Hyatt Regency Addis Ababa

My favorite hotel in a favorite part of Africa. I think its pricing is very high compared to competitors (it's charging US equivalent rates not Ethiopia equivalent rates)

The breakfast was amazing.

7 star service !!!!! Staff , especially staff @ Cascara , are Pro in every sense.

As a frequent traveller to Addis Ababa, I decided to stay at this hotel to check and broaden my options, although it is often the most expensive hotel in the city. The quality of the building and its construction materials, and the lobby area are trickly impressive. There are two hotel buildings that are not connected to each other except at the ground floor, where they share the reception. As the hotel is built adjacent to a very loud church and at the corner of two busy streets, as well as a tram line, the noise is bothersome, especially at night. I used the deluxe room, and it was so crowded with poorly displayed decor and artefacts. The breakfast is a joke except for the pastries. The breakfast place's capacity does not match the hotel's. The food at the lobby restaurant was horrible. The staff's training seems limited and inconsistent, as evidenced by their selective treatment of some guests. Orders take too long, and oftentimes you are ignored. The gym is OK with some good decoration and tools. There are so many nice hotels nearby that are cheaper and have better service. I've had my lesson, and I won't be returning to this hotel or recommending it.

Had a great time at Cascara Bar at Hyatt Regency Addis Ababa. Tade provided excellent service and made us feel very welcome. The staff were all very friendly, attentive, and professional. The atmosphere was relaxing and enjoyable. Definitely a nice place to visit for drinks and good hospitality.

Eyob at Cascara was phenomenal. He greeted me warmly, was attentive and kind. I love going to Cascara, the food and service is always exceptional.

The staff were incredibly welcoming, professional, and always ready to help. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, making it easy to relax after a long day. I also appreciated the peaceful atmosphere and excellent service throughout my stay. The location was convenient, and the overall experience exceeded my expectations. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a pleasant and comfortable stay.

We travelled as a family and stayed twice April - May for 10 nights. The staff really are the stars of the hotel. Everyone is friendly and approachable, from the concierge, to the waiting staff up to general manager, Otto who was always up for a chat with my parents and siblings visiting from London. The rooms were always spotless with the housekeeping team having a real eye for detail and thoroughly cleaning daily. The pool, gym and spa are also really calm and clean spaces that my family got to enjoy. Fendika was great for live music!

Some areas to improve, while check-in experience is always friendly, room allocation can be slow and exceed the stated 2pm check in time. We requested courtyard rooms in advance because we enjoy a quiet nights sleep. These rooms seem to be harder to come by. After a night flight from London, eventually we were able to check into our rooms at around 12:30 afternoon for one room and 4pm for the other (due to a late check out of a departing guest) as the hotel was at capacity during our first stay segment. Room 301 had a brilliant view of the pool but an unpleasant drainage smell from the shower; this should be treated with drain cleaner. The housekeeping sent someone once but it didn't fix the issue completely. Room 419 was great, the only issue was the sound from the church on some weekdays and Sunday which occurs nationwide. Maybe extra soundproofing of windows courtyard side would help. My parents really liked their first room 215.

Food options could really do with some tlc; a revamp of the menus and what's on offer at the main eateries: The Kitchen and Oriental. Service was always pretty great, but what could be improved is ensuring food is piping hot upon arrival to the guest.

I will say, that despite some minor hiccups here and there, whenever you have a issue the staff respond with sincere care and as a matter of priority. For that reason and others listed above, we will likely return to Hyatt for future family or business trips in Ethiopia.

Very good location and personalized interaction with the staff and management. Birthday cake was a brilliant surprise. Access to the lounge and made my stay very comfortable.
