Macdonald New Blossoms Hotel, Chester

The room we stayed in was a bit tired
Needs new carpet
Complete revamp in the bathrooms as well

Very outdated, stains , in desperate need of an update

Nothing very poor . It needs a total refurbishment. No staff . Found a Swiss Army knife on the floor in our room obviously not been cleaned very good and not what you would expect to find in your room.

Paper thin walls so was woken early by guest/cleaning staff passing our room. Also before checking out a really horrible loud alarm kept going off every few minutes. Aircon wouldn’t work in our room and not great in regards to plug space. TV was tiny. We also had one tiny lamp for the whole room, no ceiling light? Also had to manually empty sink as wouldn’t drain. Foyer and reception were lovely but room needed a lot of TLC.

Some of the furniture was a little dusty, lampshades and headboard.

There was. I cheeses or meats for the continental breakfast and they run out of croissants and an hour before breakfast was finished no selection of danish.
Bed was dirty I had to ask staff to change bedding at 9 pm

There isnt a bed for children so if you do book with a child, they bring a temporary bed in which isnt a bed, it is made from trampoline/sunbed material with a thin mattress topper on (not a proper mattress). It is extremely uncomfortable, small and doesnt feel safe. This is not advertised when booking or in any communications.
Communication with the hotel prior to arrival was none existent, messages and phone calls for advice not answered and this made parking arrangements worrying. You have to park in the nearby shopping centre and find your own way to hotel as directions not given. Although, the hotel do give you a code to discount the parking to £10.

The room.had not been deep cleaned i suspect for a considerable time considering the sticky dust on on the skirting wi dow sill around most of the woodwork.generally.
Could not open an of the windows and air con almost non existent but made a noise. Bathroom extractor full of dust and didn't work
Bathroom sanitary wear completely lacking in attention plug hole brown behind the taps there was pink soap scum and mouldy as it was around the shower doors.
The grout in tiles in the shower were black mouldy.
The soap and shower dispensers were completely empty.
Floor tiles cracked and grout missing.
Hair and fluff balls in the corners of the room on the carpets
Stains.and spillages all down the back of the bathroom
There was a club nearby blasting music until 330am we were unable to sleep due to this and the stuffy dry heat in the room.
We got zero sleep, frankly we were glad we did not pay for breakfast as this complete lack of hygiene would have ensured we did no eat there. Complained at desk and advised to email management.... No response.

Breakfast little choice and ran out of items. Room too hot

One room was far too warm air con not working. Staff were very good and provided a fan. Grandson is ADHD and ASC and struggles to regulate body temperature. Open windows would have been better. Other bedroom castor missing off one bed and bathroom needing an upgrade.
