Reception was understaffed, but staff were very friendly and accommodating.

Very dirty hotel rooms

The initial room we were allocated was way below standard. The window was smashed with shards of glass barely hanging in there and the security cable to stop the window opening wide sheared off. The toilet would only flush if you pumped and pumped the handle. We also discovered there was no bulb on the wall light over the bed nearest the door, and whilst walking away from the bed I noticed something on the corner of the wall which I wasn’t sure what it was until I touched it. It appeared at some point someone had vomited and it had splashed on the corner of the wall. I was absolutely disgusted that this hadn’t been picked up by housekeeping. The receptionist was very helpful and rectified what she could. Then we were upgraded and moved to a better room the next day.
You pay your bill on arrival and the manager doesn’t seem to respond to emails and they don’t answer the phone. We would stay again despite all this but some acknowledgment or reply from the manager at the very least would have been good as we are regular stayers here and I didn’t really want to go down this route to get my feedback to be heard.

The rooms were dated, cold, uncomfortable and dirty.

Absolutely awful stay. Paid for a double room and got two single beds poorly put together. Bed was covered in hair and smelt musty. No air in room and aircon wasn't working. Opened bathroom door and paint fell everywhere from the ceiling. Offered by one male member of staff a partial refund or a room change in the morning. Morning staff knew nothing of it. Complained again and offered a room change pointless so late at night! Offered late check out which was accepted and lack of communication between staff again led to housekeeping bursting into the room and arguing about that the room should have been vacant. Room was so hot didn't sleep at all. Came for a birthday break and left feeling like I needed a break from my actual break. Really disappointed. Avoid like the plague

Think this hotels bedrooms needs a revamp!!

Hot stuffy room which smelled very weird upon entering. Ceiling had water stains and discolouration.
Not many plug sockets.
Bathroom was extremely dated.
A strange box on one side which was very warm and although a fan had been provided it was extremely loud all night, but couldn’t open the windows so had to use it.

Expensive for small single bedded room. Room not spotless which at that price I’d expect. Only one pillow, damp not painted over, tv remote not working. Again, for £50 less or so a night id not care.

I want to make an online complaint bout the hotel I’m staying in, how does this sound? I would like to make a complaint about the state of the room I have booked. We are staying
Room 102 which we paid £214 for.
I appreciate the hotel is old, but it is significantly dated and visibly dirty. The cleanliness is appalling and not ok, I would appreciate a consideration for a partial refund due to the filthy room we have been put in, there is thick dust in the room, the lamp is broken and there are empty used sweet packets on the table with the water jug and glass. I have taken a video and I am more than happy to share should

Total sub standard- I’ve always used McDonald hotels but won’t do this in the future

Cleanliness of the hotel room felt very grubby & dated, no USB sockets.
Bar staff & service was poor, they don’t serve cocktails.
