Always enjoy our stay here. Great value for money and fantastic location.
Can be a little hit and miss with roims as some need a little tlc. Of going in summer be sure to get a room with air conditioning. Some rooms don't have it. We love staying in a quirky room they have but regretted it when realised how hot it was and window unable to open properly.
the room was so small but it stayed online there was air con we found out when we got there it was only in selected rooms as it was such a hot day the room temperature was 39 degrees and we only had a fan. but the carpets were dirty stains all over them we even took pictures. dated room dated furniture. we went the bar for a drink but was told there is no nom alcoholic drinks. it also states online that it’s luxury hotel this hotel has been luxurious in my opinion in over 100 years. so disappointed and staff were not accommodating and rude, you could tell they didn’t want to be there everything was to much trouble NEVER AGAIN
nothing
Emplacement
Location was good
The hottest place I have ever been in my life.
The room was hotter than the London Underground on a 38 degree day.
Would not recommend.
No AC. No fan. I had to sleep with a cold towel to make it though the night, I had to get ready in the hallway
The location - the hotel is near to the walls and the historic parts of the city. Shower was very good. Bed was comfortable, room with dual aspect was very light. Room was clean. Staff at reception and at breakfast were very friendly. Having seen other reviews I would say that our room (209) was one of the better ones.
The hotel looks tired. Furniture in the room past its best. Chair broken. Windows screwed shut. Stained mattress, no mattress cover, bottom sheet not long enough to tuck in at the top so I ended up sleeping on bare mattress at the head end of the bed. Rooms are not made up each day except on request. Even after requesting housekeeping, bins were not emptied, cups and tea bags not replaced, bed simply pulled up - bottom sheet still not long enough to tuck in at top so bare mattress problem again.
The location excellent. The breakfast very basic only satisfactory but cooked well. The Staff friendly.
The room on the first night the toilet would not flush at all so had a jug to fill and flush, also we couldn't open the window as it was nailed shut! No other rooms available to change to. On the second night moved rooms to the second floor which was great and had Air Con. but a faff having to move.
Full English breakfast was good, cooked to order and very tasty. Fair selection of other breakfast choices.
Servicing of the room was a bit hit and miss, air conditioning could have been better.
The staff and Location
The room was unpleasant and couldn’t wait to get out of it each day.
Small double which is fine, but boiling hot and unable to open any windows so felt very uncomfortable and claustrophobic.
Got a fan from reception which helped slightly but the company need to get some sort of air con units installed or allow the windows to be opened a bit to get some air in there, as is was just awful.
Not only that when looking out of the window each day there were the remain of a dead bird hanging from the netting outside which was just dreadful. Photo included.
We paid £293 for 2 nights so not cheap and certainly expected more.
The staff were lovely and none of this is a negative towards them.
Location.
Bathroom was disgraceful. We had to wash our own cups & glasses and write a note and leave it with reception to have our cups and glasses changed. There was a hole in the bedroom carpet. Someone’s hair on the drawers. One bedside lamp didn’t work. Despite the window only opening about 3 inches, someone let themselves into our room and sealed the window tight shut and blamed the Local Authority! I phoned the Local Authority and they denied passing on such instructions! There were problems with dirt in the restaurant at breakfast. I have written to Customer Services on 31/5/26 and as at 23/6 I still have not received a reply. The toilet roll got soaked because of the fixed angle of the shower so we had to move the toilet roll to the other side of the bathroom. The screen on the bathroom window had gaps so anybody using the bathroom could be seen by people in the opposite building. One day only half the bed was made!!
Location and staff
Condition of the room, dirty and unkempt.
Windows sealed shut so you can’t even open them ajar the slightest, then supplied with a tiny fan to blow hot air about. The room itself very dirty, stains on the bedding and carpet. Bathtub chipped and cracked, rotting sealant. Overall felt very dirty. Especially considering the price I paid
Location is excellent.
Rooms were clean and tidy.
Beds were very comfortable.
Plenty of hot water.
Bathrooms have shower and bath.
Good signal on the television.
Tea and coffee facilities were very good.
Rooms were showing some signs of ware and tare. Chandelier fitting hanging from the ceiling. Cobwebs hanging from the high window. Unable to open the window.
Do not like air-conditioning.
