Very well located in chester city centre
No heating that worked in the room - side lamp light not working - king size bed was actually 2 single beds put together and at times uncomfortable - so overall not a great stay
A lot of things missing from breakfast
Room was great for my purpose.
Breakfasts - tables felt sticky, menus not clean. No fresh fruit on offer. Porridge was obviously microwaved and not stirred enough and came in a dirty bowl, and coffee/hot water flasks were wrongly labelled which meant I had coffee in my teabag!
The whole break
Nothing
The. Real fast room staff were welcoming and nice. The location was good.
The room was below par, the carpet threadbare in places, the window in the bathroom did not shut so the room was freezing, there was a stain on the ceiling and overall the room was shabby and unkempt. I was hugely disappointed. Although the morning staff in the breakfast room was welcoming, there was rubbish from the night before left. Again the cleanliness was below par.

location
The room was lovely and we were so happy with the upgrade. but the issue was the late checkout and communication break down.
i messaged the hotel through booking.com and requested the upgrade option and the late check out as it was our anniversary and also my husbands strokeaversary. we had a response from the hotel to say that only upgrade available was at £30 not £15 and as a goodwill gesture they would give us a late check out free of charge for special occasion. I said that would be lovely and can we book the upgrade etc. i had no response on booking.com. when we checked in the lady on reception told us that the room was upgraded and that we had the late check out at 1pm.
the next morning housekeeping knocked on the door at 11:15 i called through that we had a late checkout. a little bit laterhouse keeping knocked on again saying that they had no record of late check out and that i would need to go down to reception to speak to them. I went to the door which i was embarrassed about as i was in my pjs and half asleep. I said i did not want to go down and is it possible to phone etc. there were 3 people at the door.
The lady said you will have to sort it when you check out as we have no record of it.
there was still nothing on the system when we checked out and the lady looked a little disgruntled. I showed her the email conversation i had on my phone. She said oh ok. i explained that we were happy to pay for the checkout. whilst the room was lovely the whole experience with the late checkout was embarrassing and unpleasant.
room very spacious breakfast excellent
Bar not open till 4pm and very small
