Receptionist was really helpful and pleasant.
Very tired decor. Shower poor. Toilet didn't flush properly. TV control didn't work. Just generally low standard for a city centre hotel in a nice city.
location
Room was completely run down, stains all over the carpet and marks on the wall. The whole hotel looks like it needs a major revamp no idea on other rooms but mine was awful
It was lovely hotel, friendly staff and a central location
The only little thing was that the tv signal kept going off all the time, but ruin our stay.
like the fact that is old, it's very nice
Really lovely staff, and helpful , amazing bed, great night sleep, great location, and breakfast was filling.
Nothing.
Nothing definitely not 4 stars as advertised
The stairs were dirty, carpets on the stairs had rubbish on, dust and looked like they had never been hoovered.
The shower head was covered in limescale
There was only 1 working plug in the room
Kettle was hidden away in a cupboard behind the mirror, no one told us it was there so didn’t find it until leaving
The bar didn’t have ice and had to be talked through how to make an Aperol spritz as had no idea
Good location
Very dated, rooms old need renovation. Noise so bad until 5am in morning so no sleep at all. Obviously no double glazing, old windows
Rooms were very dated. Mould in the bathroom, stains on the carpet. Not all the sockets worked
Staff welcoming and friendly.
Beautiful old building..
Traditional furnishing in keeping with building.
In need of upgrade .
Bathroom very poor state for 4 star hotel.
Cracked and broken floor tiles
Peeling paint
Not very clean
I travel to chester often and thought id try this hotel to use potentially regularly in future weeks for work trips.
On arrival it was made clear The bathroom air extraction fan was being replaced and having maintainance. Whilst waiting outside the room 3 people came out in relation to the job 2 minutes after 3pm when the room was paid for from 3pm. Which felt uncomfortable in its own right. I was told the room is now free. On entering the job wasnt finished on the fan. As they didnt have time. The shock and upset became apparent all afternoon in the room. Each time I open and closed the bathroom door, even gently it rained all o er the toilet seat and floor black plaster and dirt as the fan was left I completed and loose in the ceiling. I found myself cleaning filth and plaster all afternoon and all eve in the room where id had enough I came for a1 day rest and ended up cleaning. I went to reception that evening to say I was APPALLED it is HEALTH AND SAFETY and noone seemed to care. Whilst sitting in the toilet on 2 occasions plaster get dropping all over me and my hair. I was told to tell the manager at 10am the next morning as I was scattered and this 1 day of my time would have been exhausting to start changing rooms at 8 o'clock at night. There was also bloody stains from a previous guest on the bathroom marble ledge I wiped it with a tissue and it was blood. There was a small amount left that I showed the manager the next morning who just wiped it off with a cloth and didnt apologise that the cleaning staff had not cleaned the bathroom properly. What I found MOST HORRIFIC was the manager made me feel like it was an inconvenience that I showed him the plaster and dirt all over the bathroom floor and toilet. He made me feel uncomfortable because he DID NOT APOLOGISE TO ME!!!!!
