Excellent choice in Peso da Régua
Pros:

The staff was excellent, taking care of every possible request. The building is very nice, with lots of light and airy spaces. Everything very clean. Very good breakfast with an excellent fruit selection.

Our second visit to this unique hotel and it was lovely to see it has is continued to be loved and cared for.
I communicated with Nelson a few times before our arrival date and he was super attentive and so helpful. A true asset to the team.
Room 106 is very large and a balcony to watch the trains. Very comfy and huge bathroom too.
Our first evening we decided to have wine & cheese at the hotel. Lovingly prepared and a great way to relax into our mini break.
Breakfast excellent - lots of choice and perfect to our taste. Lovely friendly staff too.

Location just a short walk to & from the the train station and lots of restaurants and cafes within easy reach.

Can not recommend this hotel highly enough and hope to get back there again soon.

Wunderschönes Hotel mit ausgezeichnetem Frühstück, toller Lage und Service
Pros:

Ausgezeichnetes Frühstück mit vielen Optionen, auch pflanzliche Milch, viel Obst, Kuchen, Säfte, Tees. Das Interieur des Hotels ist wunderschön renoviert und zeigt den alten Stil eines portugiesischen Hauses. Der Service war ebenfalls super, sowohl beim Abendessen (nur Snacks), als auch beim Frühstück und im Boutique-Bereich.
Uns als Bahn-Fans hat besonders gefallen, dass das Hotel direkt neben den Gleisen liegt und man vom Hinterhof die rangierenden Loks sehen kann. Die Umgebung im Douro-Tal ist nochmal besonders sehenswert.

We were welcomed by Maria. She gave us detailed advice including how to book tickets on the Douro railway. She also provided a type-written note specially for us recommending some local restaurants.
By the way, if you arrive at Peso da Régua by train or bus there is no need to get a taxi to the hotel. It is less than five minutes walk.

O edifício está muito bem recuperado, bonito por fora e por dentro, com quartos bem decorados, confortáveis e intimistas. O pequeno almoço estava delicioso, variado e com produtos locais que nos encantaram. Adoramos a simpatia dos funcionários, muito disponíveis e agradáveis. Voltaremos com certeza!

Cons:

Sendo um edifício histórico, no meu quarto conseguia ouvir o ranger da madeira do piso de cima, quando as pessoas caminhavam, mas nada que incomodasse ou impedisse de ter uma ótima noite de sono.

Gostamos de tudo. O quarto estava muito limpo e cheirava muito bem. O pequeno almoço é muito bom e tem leite magro sem lactose. Para quem gosta de comboios o quarto em que ficámos tem um extra: acesso a uma passagem superior sobre a linha férrea.
