They initially gave me a very noisy room at the front I went back to reception they changed immediately to a quiet room

The staff at the hotel are so welcoming and friendly! The hotel is an excellent location close beside local transport and within walking distance of everything, really the best place to stay to make the most of your visit

Not a lot
The hotel was clean, stylish and the staff were really polite, professional and helpful. The room was large, clean, with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Breakfast was really nice. The location of the hotel to the main sights of Derry was perfect and the close proximity of the car park was helpful.
Sadly, someone has made the decision to create a karaoke bar right underneath the hotel. A karaoke bar that is part of the hotel. I just can't understand why this was thought to be a good idea from a noise point of view. Our room was on the 2nd floor and toward the back of the hotel, so in theory, it should have been quiet. However, the noise and vibration of the music below comes up through the floors of the hotel and goes on well after midnight, meaning we couldn't sleep. To top it off the door to the room is so badly fitted that the bright light from the corridor illuminates the room all night but also allows the noises of people shouting down the corridor when they are returning from the bar.
Whilst I appreciate that people stay in hotels for celebrations/parties/nights out etc and that there will always be noise, I just wouldn't have thought that the Holiday Inn was that kind of destination and given the demographic of people we were having breakfast with, I don't think they did either.
The reviews on the hotel looked so positive when I booked, but the recent addition of the noisy bar, I suspect, will change that over the coming months.
If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing stay, this isn't it, and I would avoid, which is such a shame as the staff and facilities were great!
