Spacious room, but facilities need improvement.
Pros:

The room was spacious, comfortable and generally pleasant for a short stay. Breakfast was reasonable, and the hotel was adequate overall for a one night visit.

Cons:

There are several areas where the hotel could improve.
Firstly, there was no refrigerator in the room, which was disappointing given Guilin’s warm and humid climate.
The advertised gym was particularly disappointing. It was essentially a seating area with two or three treadmills, with no weights, dumbbells, resistance machines or other exercise equipment. The room was dark when I visited, so I couldn’t establish whether the treadmills were operational. There were also no towels, drinking water or visible sanitising facilities. Describing this as a gym feels misleading to guests expecting a proper fitness facility.
Breakfast was acceptable, but the food labelling could be significantly improved. Meat dishes were not clearly identified by type, making it difficult for guests with religious, dietary or personal restrictions to know what they could safely eat. As someone who does not eat pork, I had to avoid several dishes because I couldn’t identify the ingredients and the staff do not speak English either when asked.
The coffee machine also appeared to have a minor issue, although this wasn’t a major concern.
These are constructive observations that I hope the hotel will consider to improve the guest experience.

An acceptable accommodation choice . . .
Pros:

The hotel was well located within easy walking distance of major attractions - with plenty of food options handy. The breakfast selection was adequate - with both Chinese and Western options available - although the hot food was barely warm!

Cons:

I was surprised, given that this is a western chain hotel that none of the staff spoke any English - the checking in process had to be conducted via a translation app - and trying to book excursions through the in-house travel agent was similar - in the end I gave up and hunted things out on my own . . .
