We had been here in 2019 and we knew we had to come back when our itinerary brought us back to Auckland!
Checking: 9/10. Easy checkin. We had the bellboy bring the luggage to our room. The bellboy was great showing us how to get to the nearest chemist/drugstore for some bandages.
The room: 9/10. They upgraded our room to a deluxe room on a higher floor. Beautiful views of the harbour. Comfortable bed. Enough space for our luggage. Mini fridge was full but we were able to remove some of their products to put our water and drinks to get cold. We just returned their drinks back on checkout day.
Bathroom: 7/10 bath and shower combo. Good water pressure. Soap and conditioner were heavily scented. We had our own with us so no problem. The bathrowels were small. That surprised us. If you provide small towels we would expect 2 per person. For such a nice hotel that was not what we expected. Hand towels and facecloths were fine.
Buffet: 10/10 We had the buffet for our 3 mornings here. It was wonderful, having so many breakfast favourites, omelette made to order, scrambled eggs, cooked bacon, 2 ways- you pick your favourite, baked tomatoes, hash browns, pastries, different type of breads, various nuts and cereals, 3 types of yogourt, fruit salad, cheese tray. They also have the best cappuccinos, just ask the waiter to bring you a cappuccino. So delightful! You can have more after that from the coffee machine that did all types of coffee.
Pool: 10/10 lovely large 25 meter pool. My wife did her lengths daily and loved it. The sauna and hot tub were also wonderful. And, after your swim you can go on the sundeck to dry up before returning to your room. Great pool towels.
Misc: great internet. Also a wide array of movie channels.
Checkout: 10/10 very easy.
Stayed here for a night, very friendly and attentive staff on reception to greet me. My third floor room was nice and quiet and a reasonable size. Bathroom was fine, probably in need of a slight upgrade as it had an old-school shower over the bath! Not sure if there was complimentary wifi? Never found a code if there was. Breakfast buffet was yum and all of the staff here were fab
We recently spent just over a month at the Pullman Hotel and Apartments. Over the years we have stayed there on many occasions. The reason for the long stay was that I had surgery in Auckland. As an Accor Diamond member were upgraded to a fully contained one bedroom apartment which was lovely. The staff went out of their way to make my recovery as comfortable as possible. No request was too difficult and their service was supreme. It felt like home away from home. The restaurant is very good. Besides highly recommending the Pullman Auckland, I would like to thank Larina, (the guest relations manager) for coordinating all my special requests and making my stay so wonderful. I would like to especially thank Dylan, Anaia, Te Mana and Halen for their smiles, excellent service and assistance, and the chefs for sorting out my gluten free requests.
Extremely helpful staff. Large comfortable room
although the bathroom was small. The sauna, steam room and swimming pool are beautifully presented and well worth a visit. The food choices are breakfast are second to none too!
I am here at least once or twice a month and i feel as at home here as i am in my own village. Lately the service at the hotel is definitely on the improve the lounge ladies are really making a huge effort to try and present the food really well, and change the platters to keep the food looking great and fresh regularly throughout the canapés service. I was lucky recently to be upgraded to The residence tower and it was really nice to be back there again. Larina is making a lot of effort to look after the All Members and takes a lot of time to get to know the regulars. I always look forward to returning.
We held our annual Sales Conference at the Pullman Auckland this year. Dorothy and her team were excellent to deal with, very attentive and responsive. Compared to other similar venues we found the offering competitively priced, and the facilities very good. Some of the AV costings were a little pricy but they worked well and I'm not going to mark them down for that given the overall cost structure for the whole event was competitive. The onsite restaurant is very good and the breakfast buffet was top tier by NZ standards - breakfast buffets in NZ can be a bit sad but the selection at the Pullman was excellent. A special mention to Bryan who was our main contact for the coffee break and lunches coordination, he did a fabulous job and was a pleasure to work with. We will certainly consider the Pullman for future events.
We were privileged to stay at the Pullman for the Special Convention of Jehovahs Witnesses. They are as advertised: 5 star! In the days of customer service not always being a premium, they showed that it’s possible and enjoy doing it. I should especially thank the employees who keep the hotel super clean. And a nice walk to the wharf area for meals, shopping and the water.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was comfortable and had a great view. Happy hour was very welcome at the end of a working day. Dinner and breakfast at Tapestry were excellent. I had the best eggs Benedict that I've had in ages. The Concierge were extremely efficient in making sure that our car was available at short notice.
Bad service, breakfast, noisy room
We checked into the Pullman today and it was very busy. We were served at the check in by a man named Virat at about 1.40pm his service was amazing. We were seen quickly and efficiently, although he was very busy he made us feel very well cared for, explaining everything in detail such as breakfast and areas. Exceptional 5 star service
On 2 January we attended a Mixology class from 7-9 pm, our daughter had given it to us as a Christmas gift. The class itself was fantastic! (Getting information about it beforehand was tricky, we only had printed out copies of the vouchers which we were worried might not work, and getting help from the Pullman about this was almost impossible, they did not answer their Auckland phone number which we had obtained via the 0800 number which was based in Mumbai! Mumbai told us it was at 6 pm but our voucher said 7 pm, in the end we got there by bus/walk at 6.40 pm and were early, it was indeed at 7 pm and we didn't need the voucher. But the instructions on where the room it was to be held in were also poor from both the front desk and the front of the restaurant area, difficult to follow. Finally pulled open double doors and found it.)
11 people attended. Luci was just wonderful for this, sparkling personality, so much fun. They provided very nice nibbles- nuts, crackers, prosciutto, salami, olives. Plenty of food as we had not had time for any dinner beforehand. We learned to make 3 drinks, all "sours" at this class. She varies what kind of theme she chooses. 3 people at a time, as 3 shakers, so occasionally couples had to split up but that was fine, we could learn different ones as I could not handle drinking 3 full cocktails plus one free glass of bubbly at the start. I was glad we were not driving! One bubbly and 2 cocktails was already at least 4 standard drinks. Varying tastes in the 3 drinks and excellent tips on shaking, extra touches etc. Altogether a really fun time. All 11 people got on well.
We (2 adults, 11yo and 2yo) stayed over a weekend in early December and also Christmas and Boxing day. Both stays were wonderful. The gym and pool, breakfast, the staff (Virat is an awesome guy) are fantastic.
Our rooms on both occasions had 2 X comfortable queen beds. They're relatively dark because there are no ceiling lights, but we didn't mind that. One room had a nice view onto the university quadrant. Nespresso machine and tea selection was appreciated. Also, the carpet underfoot feels luxurious!
Location to city centre, waterfront and the domain is a plus.
Had a great first impression by the valet Tony. Thanks mate!
There was a queue at the check in counter. Staff was all busy as it is the cruise ship season.
We had a wonderful experience on the topmost floor of the harbour view deluxe suite. The harbour views from the room does make you feel on top of the world. By far our best experience in Auckland. And the room is fab and spacious. The only missing thing is the bathtub.
We also enjoyed the breakfast. Staff was fast to fix the coffee machine. Coffee is good as well! Wide variety breakfast and staff handled the influx of crowd really well.
Overall my family stay at Pullman Auckland was good.
In particular, l would like to mention the front desk member Rodnigo, who went out his way to help us, and made our stay feeling better, and enjoyable.
We were two families staying at the hotel from 22nd December for two nights, and our booking included breakfast. During check-in, the reception staff clearly informed us that breakfast starts at 6:00 AM.
On our checkout day, we had an early departure at 6:15 AM, so we planned accordingly. We waited in the lobby and entered the breakfast area at 6:00 AM, only to be told that breakfast would start at 6:30 AM instead.
Understanding the situation and traveling with kids, we politely requested some fruits or light items so we could leave on time. The hotel staff initially agreed and were cooperative. However, the situation suddenly worsened when a manager named Amitkumar intervened.
His behavior was extremely rude, arrogant, and disrespectful. Without even understanding the issue or listening to us, he bluntly told us to come back after 6:30 AM. His tone and attitude toward paying guests—especially families with children—were completely unacceptable and unprofessional.
Because of this, we left the hotel at 6:15 AM without breakfast, despite having paid for it.
Later, Mr. Amitkumar came and apologized, admitting that his own staff had misinformed us about the breakfast timing. My question is simple:
👉 Why should guests be treated rudely before the facts are even checked?
👉 Why should we tolerate arrogance and disrespect from a hotel manager?
We behaved with dignity and restraint. We could have responded harshly or insulted him, but we did not. Respect goes both ways.
Adding to the disappointment, we are Accor hotel members, and this is absolutely not the level of service or courtesy expected from a brand of this standard.
I strongly feel that:
• A written apology is required from Mr. Amitkumar
• Proper training is needed on guest handling and communication
• Such behavior should not be tolerated in a premium hotel
This experience left a very bad impression, and unfortunately, I would not recommend this property based on how guests are treated when issues arise.
One of the most elaborate breakfast in Auckland . Location of the hotel is OK. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Good for a family stay .
Essence of Pullman is present, along with the calm inviting atmosphere. Awesome stay. Thankyou Dylan Chris Anaia Komal
We recently hosted an event at Pullman Auckland, and the experience was outstanding from start to finish. Dorothy, who managed our event, was absolutely fantastic — professional, attentive, and ensured everything ran smoothly. The entire team went above and beyond, from the welcoming concierge to the banqueting and AV teams. The food was delicious, and the desserts were a highlight! Our guests left happy and impressed — truly a five-star experience. Highly recommended!
We organised the End of the Year lunch at the Tapestry Restaurant and would like to express our sincere thanks to the Tapestry team. Everything was absolutely amazing — the food was delicious (the chef is remarkable!), the service was outstanding, and the atmosphere was delightful. A special thanks going to the administrative team for looking after our group, attending to every detail, and accommodating all the last-minute amendments.
Thank you, team — we are very much looking forward to coming back.
If you are looking for wonderful service from fantastic staff this is the hotel for you. Halen, Theresa & Aman were star employees for us but every staff member we encountered were so welcoming, friendly & helpful - can’t wait to return!
