Location
The horrible smell from the old carpet, it smelled like feet. The shower/ tub was chipped, rusted and dirty. The TV was 30 years old and we couldn't get anything but local Boston channels.
AC in our room never worked even after engineering came
If you are looking for a clean basic hotel this fits the bill. This is an older hotel so expect slightly worn hallways etc. But our room was always clean, the staff was friendly and we could walk everywhere we wanted to go. There’s a market across the street with tons of food options.

Room smelled strongly of bleach when we arrived, requiring the windows to stay open during the day.
A staff member tried to enter our room at around 8:30am on Sunday the 17th. He knocked multiple times and as I was going to the door, he used a key card and opened it, fortunately I was at the door to stop him. It was very alarming and distressing for us, especially as a gay couple. If I hadn’t stopped the door or if we wouldn’t have been there, he would have been in our room without our permission while our booking was still active. While the hotel was really great otherwise, we’re not sure we’ll stay here again because of this experience, it was very distressing and unexpected.

I’m genuinely disappointed with my stay at this hotel. While I want to be fair and mention that the staff were kind, professional, and helpful throughout my stay (this is absolutely not their fault), the hotel itself is far below expectations.
I encountered a cockroach in my room, which is completely unacceptable for any hotel, especially one charging such premium rates. The property clearly needs serious renovation and better maintenance. The facilities are extremely limited, outdated, and simply do not justify the price being charged.
For the amount paid, I expected a much higher standard in terms of cleanliness, comfort, and amenities. Unfortunately, this was one of those cases where the price and the actual experience were completely mismatched.
This is my second stay at Copley Square Hotel. The first stay was fine, I had no complaints and loved the location. This time was not as good. I noticed a few hairs from previous guests in the corners of the bathroom and no extra toilet paper in the bathroom-even asking housekeeping in the hall to put extra in our room that morning. But the biggest issues came later. On our second night our AC stopped working, it was 76 degrees in our room before we checked out that morning. Now we are sitting in the lobby with our bags because the Valet has been on break and there is no backup to retrieve our car before we can head home. It’s been 30 minutes and counting, this is not acceptable!
