The reception staff was great and actually all the staff was super friendly with the exception of the restaurant. They do lone out chairs and beach towels. The location was great. Beach was 3 min walk and bus stop, zoo and park was across the street. The hotel itself was overpriced for the quality of the room. Bathroom was old. Dirt and grime in the tile. The bathroom door had water damage along the bottom. The door stop was only a rusted piece. The drain was slow even after they came to clean twice. The water would pool when taking a shower. There was no real closet or dresser. The only seating was a bench that was stiff as a rock. No in room coffee. The windows looked like they had not been washed in years.
I got Room 306 and unfortunately it is close to the hotel restaurant and bar so noise was heavy up until the bar closed . That day we hit a hike in the morning and then the beach followed by a luau so we sleeping was a bit challenging that night
Everything else was awesome the staff the location of the hotel I would still recommend a stay here
I loved my stay. Perfect location and amazing hospitality. All the staff where amazing !
I will do my best to make this review as short as possible even though the story is very long. I booked an ocean view room at the Queen Kapiolani hotel last October. I wanted to surprise my son with the best view possible. It was approximately $300 more total for our stay compared to the Diamond Head view. When we got there, I noticed right away that we were given the Diamond Head view. Although it was still very nice, it was not what we paid for. I went back to the front desk and she assured me that it was the Ocean View room. I went back upstairs and took screenshots of the room descriptions and went back down to show her. She looked at my screenshots and asked me where I got them. I said, "On YOUR website"! She was very confused and credited me $200. I was still NOT happy because the only reason I booked this hotel was for the ocean view. Later I noticed mold on the bathroom counter and the toilet paper holder was covered in rust.
The next morning we had an important tour which was our main reason for going to Honolulu. I had purchased my son and I matching t-shirts for this day. Right before we left we took a selfie in the mirror and then my son ran in to the bathroom to brush his teeth. During the tour we noticed that his t-shirt and shorts were ruined by bleach stains that aligned with the edge of the sink. I reported this to management along with the state of the bathroom and included photos which clearly show my son's outfit before and after brushing his teeth.
I also want to state that our balcony faced the pool and another building. During our stay there were two men that kept exposing themselves in front of the windows. Seeing one man was one thing, but seeing two (in different rooms) was completely different. I have to say that they both looked like exotic dancers…nothing against that profession, it would have actually been a little funny if I was there on a girls trip, but not when I'm on a trip with my son. AND the fact that they were facing the pool where children were present was disturbing to say the least. I reported this as well and asked if they rented rooms to performers who were passing through town.
Another thing to note is that they did not have air conditioning in the bathroom. Taking a shower was a MISERABLE experience!! They only had a small window you could open which didn't do much at all except let in GIANT flying cockroaches! If we weren't leaving that day I would have DEFINTILY moved to another hotel!!
All in all...they credited me a total of $300 which only covered the bait-and-switch of the room descriptions in their website. Nothing to cover my son's ruined outfit, the cleanliness of the room and our less than desirable experience. I waited several months to post this to see if they would compensate me further. I was told nothing more was coming.
Please see photos of the room descriptions from their website compared to my personal photo from the room.
Do yourelf a favor and book a nicer hotel with a city view for the same price. Hilton Hawaiian Village will get my business from now on!
Unfortunately, the rooms on the city view side of the hotel are woken by the sound of the trash truck banging away. Those rooms are also very dated and small. At least they are clean. I wouldn't stay there unless you get the ocean-side room.
Such an incredible trip and such an incredible hotel! The staff was amazing and so helpful and friendly. With some very special help from Athena, Theresa, Kryz, and Stacy, I feel like I’m getting to know the staff there.
Felt so welcomed!
The location was perfect for my meetings which I was able to walk to. The view speaks for itself, especially from my very comfortable room. Can’t wait to come back! A big Mahalo to the entire team there!!!
Boa localização, fica a 1 quadra da praia. Ótimos restaurantes a uma curta distancia a pé. Hotel fornece cadeiras e toalha de praia gratuitamente. Quarto com bom tamanho, camas confortaveis, banheiro limpo.
Valor do estacionamento é alto - 62 usd/dia - valet. Mas é compativel com os valores praticados em hoteis em Waikiki, então já era esperado
Our stay at Queen Kapiolani was great! The staff was friendly and efficient. The rooms were very clean, valet was hustling. I would definitely stay here again.
Amazing staff, this is my second time coming here and it’s always an amazing experience
Love the Aloha vibe. Highly recommend Jnr suite - additional space, table & chairs & kitchenette.
Everything.
Excellent location. At the end of Waikiki but still very Close to beach, restraunts and all the fun of Waikiki. The zoo is across the street and you can walk a few miles to the crater for a hike. Staff is super friendly from the moment you get out of your car all the way into your room. The cleaning staff constantly checked on our needs when they saw us in the hallway.. the rooms were a decent size giving plenty room to walk around. The balcony is also pretty spacious to enjoy the surroundings. Didn't hear much of the noise outside from in the room. would recommend this hotel.
I always come back to the Queen Kapiolani because I can't imagine staying anywhere else. The location is perfect, the green of the park, the blue of the water, even the pink of the flamingos at the Zoo. Athena and Kawai are two of the wonderful staff who make you feel at home and so welcome. Their hospitality is genuine and adds so much to the experience of this special place in the world. The atmosphere is one of friendliness and relaxation, and as another guest and I were saying in the elevator, "you just feel at home here."
Overall this was a very nice hotel to stay at. Definitely pay the extra money to have an ocean view. The city view is not much to look at. House cleaning was very attentive, on site laundry was of great use, and a very short walk to the beach.
Great location across from Honolulu zoo, with views of Diamond head and Waikiki Beach from our room. The hotel is clean, comfortable, and well maintained. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Their staff is very welcoming and accommodating across the board. Their rooms and spaces are clean and very well kept. They provide a relaxed vibe in a great location with many food options nearby
Great location to beach and other attractions. Also, great food at the Deck. Staff very friendly.
