Great location. Friendly staff. Excellent meals.
Location friendly staff
Lifts were difficult on departing days.
Friendly staff, comfortable beds, clean rooms
Small elevators
Location, very nice hotel
Nothing to dislike
Conveniently located to the city cruise terminal. Walking distance to shops. Stapler at reception (so you can staple your cruise tags onto your luggage). Breakfast was fine/standard.
Small room, tiny bathroom. Surprisingly, reception checkout extremely slow (many people checking out at same time so they can embark on cruise). Long wait times to get into elevator during check out (in the end, we all put luggage in lift but walked down the stairs). Restaurant served bland food.
The voco Southampton was perfectly fine for a pre-cruise stay, although there are a few things worth knowing before you book.
The location is very convenient to the cruise port and technically walkable, although with several suitcases you'll probably still want a taxi. Our room was small by U.S. standards but comfortable enough for a short stay. The breakfast buffet was quite good and definitely worth adding.
The biggest downside is the elevators. There are only two, they're extremely small, and on a cruise departure morning the situation was honestly a bit ridiculous. We waited more than 15 minutes before joining the scores of people choosing to lug huge bags down multiple flights of stairs over waiting any longer. If you're staying here before a cruise, take your large bags downstairs to storage before others wake up, or build extra time into your morning (like, a lot of extra time).
The highlight of the hotel was definitely the staff. Everyone we encountered was friendly, helpful, and welcoming.
Overall, I'd stay here again for the convenience, good breakfast, and excellent staff; it's a sold, practical pre-cruise hotel, but nothing particularly special.
Stayed for just one night, spot on location for cruising. The hotel is very well maintained and our stay was very pleasurable.
I would like to mention especially two awesome staff -- Karl, who kindly made a 9 people reservation for the Greek restaurant recommended for us, and Su, who patiently explained directions to clueless me how to get to this restaurant, step by step.
We shall be back, and thank you again, Daniela
Location is perfect for taking a cruise

Great location overlooking the port. The huge bed was fantastic. Restaurant was tasty.
Limited Parking (Car Park basically full upon arrival at 7pm), Air Con wasn't easy to operate. Lift was slow and small. Restaurant only had 2 working so service was slower than anticipated.
Fabulous location. Plenty of parking (£20 for a day), fast EV charger. Fantastic restaurant, great atmosphere and not too busy.
Room large, clean, well equipped, quiet and very comfortable.
Staff excellent.
Right by the cruise dock and very close to many restaurants and bars and sightseeing
Nothing to dislike !
EVERYTHING, friendly staff and lovely breakfast, our room was spacious
NOTHING
Very convenient for cruise port also walking distance to town centre. Lovely helpful staff food good and lovely and clean. Couldnt really fault
Nothing really
We, like many, recently stayed at the Voco Southampton prior to our cruise. We were pleased with our selection for many reasons, especially because of the friendliness of the staff. They couldn’t have been any nicer, more helpful or more efficient. The location of the hotel is also excellent and while it would have been a lengthy walk to the Mayflower terminal, it seems as though it would be easy to walk to a few others.
They work with the local taxi folks so that if you ask them to arrange a cab for you the next day, they can easily do that. The cab arrived on time and it was an easy 10-minute drive. The hotel is also about a 10-minute walk to the shopping mall which offers a large variety of restaurants for any kind of meal you wish. Plus, there are other restaurants nearby in addition to what is offered at the hotel itself.
There were three of us which made the room a bit tight. Not uncomfortable though. The bed was fine. The bathroom itself was really small with zero ventilation. Not unusual for an older property—though they have recently remodeled there isn’t much you can do about that. But, overall, the room was comfortable for the time we needed it.
Here is the one potential issue: They have two elevators that are very small. Three people and three bags were a very tight fit. And when the demand is high (such as in the morning with so many folks leaving to go to their ships), it can take a very long time to use them to get to the lobby. We were fortunate in that we were able to walk down the stairs with our bags. While not ideal, this is likely the best solution for those that can physically do so.
Overall, this property offered exactly what we needed and we wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again prior to another cruise.
Family and I stayed one night before a cruise. For the port the hotel is perfectly located. Also only a 5 minute walk to local restaurants and bars.
This was my first stay in a voco and I was a little apprehensive knowing it was formally a holiday inn, which I dont really care for. We were presently suprised and will return again.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Always made a point of acknowledging my daughter which I liked. Room was good size for family although bathroom was tiny. Clean an modern and aircon worked properly! Only nigggle was the beds were extremely hard however i know thats a personal preference. Breakfast was solid if not special. As were the drinks at the bar. Note they only have a seafood restaurant so if thats not what you like then a walk into town is worth it. To be clear, this is not a 5 star hotel, but it good enough to be 4 star. We will return when next in the area as long as price is sensible.
