A fantastic hotel, great location near Southampton docks. A lovely room. Everything from cleanliness to staff friendliness was outstanding.
Nothing.
Staff,hotel
Just wanted lunch no staff about so went to hotel next door, also on check-in we could have been told the necessity to book so hence had a wait but staff and food delicious
Comfort,staff, price, location.
Lack of disabled car park spaces
Close to the port, clean and lovely view from the room
I honestly thought I had booked bed & breakfast! For the price I paid I assumed it was included. I would have gone elsewhere had it been clearer breakfast was extra. I booked and paid for the room but the receptionist kept asking my partner the questions and asked for his card?? A woman can book and pay these days!!
Great views from the Bedroom and a fantastic breakfast.
Would be better with more or larger lifts
Modern make over, fabulous food, comfy and clean, great location.
Tiny bathrooms, slow restaurant service from the bar and to be seated especially.
The area the hotel is in was great close for the port terminals for the cruise ships which is what we wanted. And Close to walk to the ships. The receptions and waiters were friendly.
I thought breakfast expensive. They have omelette s marked up at £7.50, but they charge the full price for the breakfast. I think we were charged £40 for 2 breakfast s.
Rooms were fine and the restaurant was excellent.
Had trouble getting them to give us separate checks for couples at dinner the first night. Other than that, meal was good.
The best part was definitely the view from the room — it was beautiful. I could see the cruise ships, the sea, and the sunset, which made the stay feel very relaxing and special. The sea view really added a lot to the overall experience.
I was quite disappointed with the cleanliness of the room. While the visible areas looked acceptable at first glance, there were several issues once I looked a little closer. I found a fake eyelash under the telephone, the hairdryer was dusty, and the area near the window was also dusty with some small pieces of rubbish. These are not hidden or difficult-to-reach areas, so I feel housekeeping should pay more attention to the details.
The breakfast was also only average. The hot breakfast in particular was very disappointing. The sausages, mushrooms, and eggs all felt like ready-made food that had simply been reheated, with a rather artificial texture.
Considering voco Southampton is regarded as one of the higher-rated hotels in Southampton, I expected a much better standard. The view was excellent, but the overall cleanliness and breakfast quality did not meet the level I would expect from a hotel in this category.
I also had a very poor experience with the hotel payment process. At check-in, I specifically requested to pay by cash, and the front desk staff confirmed that this would be acceptable. I was still asked to provide a credit card for the deposit, which I understood was only for security purposes.
However, at check-out, I was told that the payment had already been processed through Booking.com, and that paying by cash would result in a double payment. I later realised that the charge had actually been made to the same credit card I had provided for the deposit. The staff explained that cash payment was accepted, but because the payment had already been processed via Booking.com, they could no longer do anything about it.
I found this very frustrating and disappointing, as I had clearly been told at check-in that I could pay by cash. The communication was poor, and the process felt very misleading. For a hotel of this standard, I would expect much clearer and more consistent information about payment arrangements.
The room was large the bed comfortable and the bathroom facilities good. Everything was clean and tidy. The food in the restaurant was very good and resonably priced.
Not a thing.
The staff were amazing 👏 great customer service
The room was dirty, especially the bathroom the toilet back was full of wee it was disgusting.
With the amount of work they have put in to upgrade the place not would be great if the keep it up with cleanliness too. Dust was everywhere around the headboard. It was really bad
Breakfast was a total let down, could have eaten a better breakfast at McDonald's
Greeting and welcome by Shayla the best we've encountered in a very long time. All facilities as described. Excellent overnight before cruising.
