Rooms were dated. Location was great.
The in room hair dryer did not work. The front desk said that they would have one delivered to the room. An hour later we checked out without ever receiving one. My wife was not pleased that her hair was not dry. Also there was a mildew type smell in the hall that drifted into our room. The room next to our was undergoing repairs so it may have come from that room.
Overall good stay. Room was a little outdated and quant. Could use a little updating. Staff was great and location was wonderful.
The hotel has a beautiful historic charm and an excellent location right across from Grant Park — perfect for sightseeing and walking to nearby attractions like the Art Institute and Michigan Avenue. The staff were friendly and helpful, and our room was comfortable and clean. It’s a great choice for anyone wanting a classic Chicago experience!

Shockingly updated interior of the rooms based on the historic feel of the common areas- I was so pleasantly surprised!
Staff non existent at night. Check-in was teally smooth, though and my room view was spectacular.
Old building without upgrades
It's an older hotel ... a little shabby in a few ways but clean and pleasant.
The Congress Plaza Hotel wasn't what I expected. It was giving haunted vibes. Ceilings were super high, bathroom door creeks, lights were super dimmed. Just an eerie vibe.
Pro is that it is in the middle of everything you possibly like to do such as the Bean, museums, Chinatown etc. All are within walking distance or a 5-7 minute drive.
One thing during our stay, we called the front desk if we could get another blanket due to how thin the blankets were and the room was super chilly. No one ever brought us the extra blankets. Otherwise everything else was fine, check in process was super easy and everyone was really nice.
Front desk staff don’t wanna work there, worst of the worst customer service I ever experience at hotels.
All good, except no hot water in the showers.
Are stay was very nice my husband has always wanted to stay here it was one of his dreams and his dream came true every one was very friendly my husband was hoping we would hear something go bump in the night lol 😂 thank you for giving us the best night

Good place to stay. Affordable but no one told me about the haunting reputation. We didn’t experience anything but quite a rep. TV in the room was smaller than my monitor at work. Staff was professional. Parking is the worst part though. The hotel doesn’t have a parking and you gotta pay $60+ a day and there’s no going in and out. There is another parking but about a block down the street. Crazy.
Shopping was very accessible within walking distance laundry supplies were available upon request
Great location across from Buckingham Fountain. Nice wheelchair accessible room with 2 beds which is sometimes hard to find.
