Lovely hotel - would recommend!
Pros:

Lovely, lovely hotel - clean, well designed, great facilities. Our room was spacious and well maintained with quiet and effective air con - which was brilliant.

The food was fabulous and value for money (half board). We enjoyed the themed evenings whilst still feeling that we could experience local food and drink. Staff were welcoming, friendly and attentive. Super service throughout our stay.

The fact that it is adults only made this a quiet and peaceful retreat. We had great weather so we were able to take full advantage of the pool and outdoor spaces.

The location was a plus too. Beachfront and near to supermarket/ touristy shops, nice walking along the sea road.

The spa was fabulous with a wide range of treatments and Katerina was great!

No negatives for us - we would be very happy to visit this hotel again.

Caveat: I love cats but possibly not the place to go if you are not inclined 🐈

Small and Friendly for a relaxing stay
Pros:

Pros:
We had a wonderful stay at Enorme Maya Beach. The food was excellent, with different themed dinners each night that kept things interesting. The staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly, special shoutout to Bernardo and Katrina in the restaurant, whose English was impeccable and service outstanding.

The atmosphere was quiet, relaxing, and peaceful, perfect for unwinding. We stayed in a junior suite with a sea view, which was spacious and nicely laid out with a separate room and a very large balcony. Despite it being the end of the season, all the staff remained upbeat and eager to go above and beyond.

The pool area was spotless, with plenty of comfortable sunbeds, and the breakfast selection was fantastic, there was truly something for everyone. The hotel itself is beautifully designed with a boho aesthetic, and everything felt clean and well-maintained. We also appreciated having fresh towels every day and the lovely outdoor bar/snack area, which also serves as the à la carte restaurant.

Areas for Improvement:
The beds could be a bit more comfortable , they’re quite firm, so if that’s your preference, you’ll be fine. The bathroom in our room was quite small and felt like the only thing that let the room down.

While the hotel itself is lovely, it would perhaps feel more at home in a more affluent area, as Gouves doesn’t have too much to offer beyond a pretty church and rows of souvenir shops. I’d definitely recommend hiring a car to explore more of Crete, as the island has so much to see and do.

Since we visited at the end of the season, some activities like yoga were unavailable. Also, the toiletries provided were quite minimal; just soap and shower gel- and we would have expected a bit more from a 4-star hotel.

Overall:
A beautiful, peaceful hotel with friendly staff, great food, and a relaxing vibe. A few small tweaks could make it perfect, but it’s still a lovely place to stay and unwind.

Beautiful Honeymoon Hotel
Pros:

We went on honeymoon, wow didn't disappoint the staff made us feel so special, always smiling and so helpful, only criticism is that the room was a bit small and not a lot around in relation to bars and restaurants, if you walk somewhat you will find them, its a very quiet resort so if you want a bit more about then this isn't for you, but we couldn't fault the hotel staff food amazing

Excellent experience, good food, helpful and kind staff and beautiful property.
Pros:

My boyfriend and I went for 5 days, the staff were all so welcoming and helpful, providing us with food and complimentary drinks when we got in after a late flight. The room was beautiful and well kept, cleaned everyday other than when we didn't ask for it to be. The pool area is charming and clean with a small family of friendly kittens around.
Food was excellent, a full 5 course meal was provided once free of charge at their restaurant, with breakfast and dinner buffets included.
The local area is a little touristy but there's plenty of quiet beaches and sights to see despite that.
Very happy with our experience and would highly recommend it to couples looking for a peaceful week away.

Area very disappointing
Pros:

Positives, the hotel is beautiful, staff are very helpful, we had a seaview junior suite, having 2 rooms was a bonus. There is a lovely little church opp the hotel.
Negatives, the area is quite rundown, not what we had envisaged, the seaview description is a stretch, the main shopping area is abt a 20 min walk away. If u arrive through the night pls go to reception the next day for an update, we had to figure most of the layout, eating times ourselves, the times of the resturant is wrong, the Jet 2 rep has been asking the hotel since April to update the books in the rooms.

We would not return, the area is a disappointment.

Not 4 star
Pros:

The hotel was definitely not a 4 star.
The food in the main restaurant let the hotel down, it was not good.
The room was pleasant enough but you didn't get coffee each day only on your arrival day!
I had a massage by Katerina and that was the highlight of the week, she was great 👍

Very good
Pros:

We have just left maya resort. Its a beautiful small place. Everything you could need. The staff are all amazing and friendly. The hotel has a beautiful grassy area for chilling and lounging around and snoozing in the sun.

The food is fantastic quality and plenty of choice.

The location is ok but a bit far from the centre, it is a steady 15 min walk

Lovely small hotel with fabulous staff.
Pros:

We've just returned from a fabulous holiday at Maya Beach hotel. I would have rated this hotel 5* but for a couple of small points. The staff are superb, always smiling and going the extra mile for guests. The rooms and communal areas are all very clean.

On arrival we had a lovely welcome and whisked off to the evening buffet which was about to close. We were then shown to our junior suite with sea view.

The pool area is not large but we had no problem getting sunbeds. The rule of not reserving beds is not adhered to and most customers reserve beds on going to breakfast. We didn't see staff removing towels on long time unused beds.

The pool call system for food and drink works pretty well.

The restaurant food is excellent. Breakfast buffet is substantial with fruits, yogurts, cereals cheeses, meats, hot options with various types of eggs, also cakes and pastries.

The evening buffet was themed and the food was on the whole very good but here's my first small complaint. The very popular options run out quickly and were replaced by cheaper options. We like to eat a bit later than most, about 8pm (the restaurant is open 6.30 - 9pm). On Greek night moussaka and chicken kebabs ran out and were replaced with Greek sausage. On another occasion a popular dish was replaced with grilled chicken.

We visited the al a carte restaurant on one evening and thoroughly enjoyed our 4 course meal finished off with raki and ouzo.

Another minor complaint was that there is no indoor comfortable lounge bar. Possibly not needed in the summer months but was disappointing on cooler autumn evening. It meant that we frequented local bars.

Our last minor complaint is about our junior suite. In other hotels that offer suites there is usually a comfortable homely seating area along with the bedroom. The junior suite is really a bed room with another single bedroom tagged on. The seating was just a single bed pushed against the wall. It would be better if it was a true sofa bed and put the tv in the lounge area. The balcony was very small and although we had a large sea view it got no sun at all.

We paid quite a lot extra for our suite and it didn't meet expectation.Don't get me wrong this is a great hotel with wonderful staff and nice food and accommodation but the rooms are not 4*

Pros:

I indulged in a full head to toe relaxation massage with Katerina Andrianou. This was pure bliss. I have had a very stressful year and found it difficult to unwind until Katerina worked her magic, such a beautiful caring soul. Also Clefta, the most helpful beautiful young lady front of house, went above and beyond with her very approachable manor .. excellent staff all round

Great Hotel
Pros:

Very nice hotel, good food and cold beer. Plenty of beds around the pool. All staff friendly. Hotel is in a quiet part of town but still plenty of restaurants pretty close by. (Behind the larger beach)

Katerina the onsite masseuse is excellent, offering lots of different treatments. Highly recommended.

Pleasant hotel
Pros:

Nice hotel, very chilled around the pool but sunbeds could be a problem if you are a late riser.....the food at best was mediocre, lots of choice but unfortunately mainly cold so ate out after giving it a go for 5 out of the 10 nights we were there.....the staff however are the saving grace of this establishment, each & every one are absoluteley lovely... extremely welcoming, very friendly & happy in their work. If you don't like cats avoid, I'm not the biggest cat lover but they didn't bother me, a couple of litters of kittens which really were very cute but around the dining area which may be off putting for some....Gouves itself is a VERY quiet resort but there are a few bars & restaurants in either direction.sadly wouldnt return

Review of 14 night stay
Pros:

The hotel itself is lovely, it has a good relaxed vibe and was spotless during the whole 14 nights of our holiday. The food was buffet style and catered for mosts tastes, offering Italian, Greek, Bbq etc. all meals and breakfasts were very fresh and tasty. One point to note was that we’d asked for a junior suite and although this was to our liking, having 2 large balconies was a bonus, we did not have a great outlook. Our room was above reception area and overlooked a not very pleasant looking carpark. This let the room down in our opinion, even although we do not normally spend a lot of time on balcony, it’s still nice to have a better outlook. Sunbeds around the pool - you could get a couple of beds even after breakfast time, so not too bad. There are another 8 beds which overlook the beachbar and sea, the warm wind blowing in from the sea was just perfect so we chose these beds most days.
A little about the surrounding area now - Gouves is not your typical holiday hotspot in that there are not a huge amount of shops/bars and restaurants close to Enorme Maya Beach hotel. We found that if you walked up to a mile in either direction, there was more choice. This is not a criticism as we understand not everyone wants the hustle and bustle of a more busy town.
We did a boat trip and visited Hersonissos, 3 bus stop rides away for €2, very good value for money. Hersonissos was beautiful, would recommend visiting this town.
If what you are looking for is peace, quiet and a very chilled holiday, then this is the place for you. If you want more going on around you with more hotel entertainment, then perhaps think twice about visiting Gouves.
