Pros:

First, there were no signs pointing out the location of Coco Beach Hotel. There was a sign pointing to Coco Beach, but that is a backpacker beach FAR from the real Coco Beach Hotel. It took 2 hours to find the place. No road signs, no street names, phone GPS did not work as soon as we crossed from Ghana into Togo. The hotel is in an odd area with big manufacturing all around, cannot see the sea from the highway where you are supposed to turn. Not easy to find. But once there, it is a pleasant place, clean rooms, clean linens, nice beach with breakwater so you do not get swept away by the undertow, and nice pool area. The problem with the room was that I had booked a room with an ocean view, and we got put into a tiny room with no view, that cost half of what I had prepaid. The next night we were moved to a bigger room, with a bigger bed, but it also had no view. We also had a struggle to convince management to credit us for the first night room. But that was eventually taken care of. My companion speaks Ewe, the local language, and I speak a bit of French. So communication was rough but OK. The second room was nice, the bed was comfortable, the fridge worked. But in both the rooms, the bathrooms were not exactly sparkling. First, the shower is a pipe sticking out of the wall, no enclosure, no curtain, so the entire bathroom gets wet. The fixtures are old and rusty/calcified. Not pleasant to use. BUT the restaurant is brilliant, and I would go there again, just to eat!

Pros:

They charged more than the Expedia price, there is no free airport shuttle, staff was rude and the place was run down. It’s in a very poor side of town.
On the plus side it is right on the beach and the restaurant was fine.

Pros:

It was by the beach.

We had booked ground-level bungalows - because my friend has difficulty with stairs - and a desk. We were told these were full and we sent up to rooms two flights of stairs, no desk and weak wi-fi.

Its essential to pay with local currency because the staff were operating their own exchange rate - 25% worse than the airport! Service was painfully slow.

The hotel's driver was equally bad. His non-a/c car was not big enough for two suitcases and he tried to charge a 100% supplement for a day out. The various sites also seemed to charge huge rates - a canoe crossing was 50x more than reviews suggested. When we finally arrived at the airport and gave him the agreed amount he demanded even more.

This hotel really needs to get its act together.

Revoir la propreté des chambres
Pros:
