very old and not worth at all
very old and not feel like 5 stars!
2 stars maximum
Beautiful, historic building but not maintained at all!
No maintenance, rude staff, as women we felt uncomfortable at times. Male staff was very intrusive and harrassing. The young woman at the reception was extremely rude and unfriendly. Two male staff were harassing us on the street and running after us. The food was not good. We would absolutely not recommend staying there. For female travelers we would overall not recommend Egypt.
The architecture
The hotel need to be renovated
The place is unique and decorated beautifully. The staff are amazing. The garden is so beautiful.
Nothing.
The hotel is in tragic conditions. Délabré, run-down and decadent have now a new meaning after seeing how Sofitel is running this historic place. The manager and the owner should be ashamed of the state of the facilities. We were attracted here by the allure of the hotel’s history but it impossible to enjoy to stay here since the premises are close to fall apart and the carpets in the public areas and the room are very old, dusty and feel dirty. I am sure not a dime was invested in the hotel at least in the last 30 years. I have never been a fan of Sofitel but after staying here I will stay for sure at large from this brand forever.
The hotel was a beautifully maintained building both in the interior and in the garden. The hotel had both premium and normal restaurants. We visited each of them and enjoyed the food according to the personal menu. The staff were polite and very willing to help with any information as well as for departure transportation. It was possible to take a tourist tour at the hotel heading towards the Valley of the Kings or the monuments and other tourist destinations of Luxor.
The rooms were very small for the price of the room, two people could barely move around in this space. The room overlooked the Nile and the noise from the street was terrifying day and night.
Took my mum here for 4 nights as part of her birthday 'grand egyptian tour' trip. And it didn't disappoint. From the exceptional staff to STUNNING gardens and wonderful pool area. We had dinner and a fabulous breakfast in Corniche restaurant, both services were lovely. Food beautifully cooked/presented and again service was exceptional. They made a real fuss of mum for her birthday which was greatly appreciated. And the tranquil garden and relaxing pool area made an oasis in the heart of a chaotic city. Thank you all it was magical good old fashioned service and hospitality
Beautiful historic hotel with magnificent gardens. We had a suite which we did not feel was value for money as it was over large, dark, furnished with oddments such as hat stands and occasional tables etc etc. Most disappointing aspect was the 1886 Restaurant which we were sold as a fine dining experience - it was'nt. In short there was no menu, it was fish or fish which for my wife who is allergic to fish made it challenging. We inquired if there was an a la carte menu to be told we had been sold a fixed price menu with no alternatives. This was NOT as advertized. In fairness the hotel did refund us as neither of us ate anything from the limited menu. However by comparison the pool area and informal restaurant was very good as was the club bar. In short the hotel is the classic "curates egg" - good in parts.
