The Lynden Grove Hotel

Friendly staff. Pretty building.

The hotel was welcoming and had a lovely style to it. There was a pool table upstairs that we could use after returning from dinner.
Room was spacious and lovely

Delightful little hotel. Unfortunately views were spoilt by a new building right in front. However the staff were so welcoming, hospitable, warm.
The bain - marie heating dishes didn't keep the food very hot, luke warm, but the wonderful chef whisked our plates away and instantly returned them with hot and delicious food.
However wouldn't hesitate to recommend this Sri Lanka gem.

Great location and very kind staff. They really cared about our stay and helped organize everything so we could catch the train to Ella. They even prepared a delicious breakfast to take away for us. Highly appreciated!

Lokalizacja świetna! Śniadania bardzo dobre, do wyboru kuchnia lokalna i europejska. Bardzo pomocny i życzliwy personel! Zostawiłam w hotelu dwie ważne dla mnie rzeczy i poprosiłam o przesłanie kurierem do Colombo, w którym miałam być za pare dni i zorganizowali to wszystko bardzo szybko i sprawnie. Bardzo im jestem za to wdzięczna!💌💌💌

I am struggling to find much to commend about this hotel, though I would say that overall the staff were polite and keen to please - highlighted by a swift laundry service with about a two hour turnaround.
Our room was effectively without a window because it had been partly papered over for reasons unapparent. From within the room we could clearly hear conversation from an adjacent room - such was the thickness of the walls. Overnight there was heavy rain and the water from the roof appeared to be falling on something akin to an oil drum!
However, the biggest quirk of this hotel is that it serves food which is at best warm during mealtimes. This was a point I made to the waiter ( why the tatty gloves??) along with mentioning the toughness of the beef. There was no explanation nor apology. I guess he had heard it all before!

Quaint little hotel. Rooms were a great size with 2 day lounges by the windows. Beds were a little too firm but still slept well. Nice and quiet with no outside noise heard. Bathroom set up was a little different but it worked. Toilet and basin in one room. Shower and basin in another. The towel rails were above the toilet though. Shower did leak out so the floor towel was always soaked. But we learnt just leave clothes on the sink!
Nice walk into the main part of town.
Not sure if it was the norm but we had to pre order dinner when we checked in. Little disappointed that there was no Sri Lankan options on the menu though. However what we had was great and the wait staff were really attentive. Loved the little restaurant area though.
Loved our night here.
