The hotel is absolutely gorgeous, but be prepared to be charged exorbitant fees throughout the entire hotel. Parking is close to New York rates, even though you’re not in the city, food prices are off the charts and not as good as it should be. Overall, the hotel and the staff are amazing. It’s just the feeling of being ripped off that brings down the stay.
The rooms are very confortable
Excellent view from day to night in both our room and common area. You can enjoy the view at the patio as well. Live music is wonderful add-on. The day pass for spa is also great especially for us being Globalist members, the price was 35 USD(normally 65). The breakfast buffet provides tasty food including omelet station on site. The location is good for it's not too far from San Diego but also close to popular places like Lego land, Sea World, and state park and beaches. The room is perfectly sized with great amenities and also very quiet.
Beautiful location. Good, service, ambience was superb! Very relaxing and the pool temp was warm, even in mid January.
Top notch service, beautiful grounds, great pools (both family and adults only), housekeeping was noticeably better than most places, beautiful golf course. Lacking in the game room activities and the top golf suite leaves something to be desired.
We had a very underwhelming experience at this resort, although the grounds are lovely and the rooms clean. We happened to be staying here over New Years and the hotel was a total zoo. There was nowhere to sit, the only option for dining was a a prix fixe which doesn't work with toddlers, or a 3 hour wait to even sit in the lobby bar. It seemed very unorganized and it would have been nice to know when booking the stay that we would be unable to dine or leave our rooms for one of the nights because it was so crowded. The pool was also too wild for our liking and there were significantly more people in the hot tub than should have been allowed. Why not heat the main pool more if clearly it's too cold and everyone is congregating in the hot tub? The valet took 15+minutes to get our car on numerous occasions. They truly just seemed like they were way over booked at the resort and understaffed. The best experience was breakfast in the morning where the staff were extremely kind! We also didn't know it was buffet only until arriving where we were told they didn't offer the menu when the hotel was at capacity. Good proximity to legoland, the grounds are nice, but nobody explains anything such as the volleyball area down the hill etc. If you want help you have to just figure things out on your own. Overall, it's fine. We surely didn't leave thinking " wow that was incredible I can't wait to return".
My family and I just returned from a spectacular weekend celebrating my daughter's 5th birthday at the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort, and I am still floating on cloud nine! From start to finish, the experience was absolutely phenomenal—a gold standard for family luxury!
The Property & Ambiance: Breathtaking Beauty
The resort is just stunning. The grounds are immaculately maintained, with lush landscapes and beautiful views of the lagoon that made us feel like we had been transported to a tropical paradise, perhaps like Maui, but closer to home. We spent hours just walking around, soaking in the serene atmosphere and taking countless photos. The recent renovations have truly elevated the elegance, especially in the lobby area and around the grounds, creating a wonderful, luxurious, yet unpretentious feel.
What a great hotel to visit with kids or without. They had a kid friendly pool with a water slide as well as an adult pool. They had great activities for kids all day and great food onsite! Will definitely visit again!!
I wanted to say thank you to Chris and Lolo from the security team at Park Hyatt Aviara (Carlsbad), who went SUPER out of their way to get my credit card back to me after I had left my trip. Wonderful experience at the hotel, for sure will be coming back, my kids (5 & 6) were OBSESSED with the christmas mart.
We’ve stayed at this property many times. It’s a great hotel for kids with fun water slides. Thank you to Ashley Wallack for telling us about Christmas on the Green. It was magical! Our family of 7 enjoyed the activities including bouncy houses, characters, a train ride, a light show, live music, a magician, beautiful decorations and yummy wood fire pizza.
Great location, good food, just a fun Yuletide experience for the family. We don’t golf, but even so it was a very welcome experience.
Beautiful but over price, breakfast staff was fail, $40 for a buffet that doesn’t have much food. Room was very spacious and clean. For the same price or even higher, choose Alila near by are much better!
I hadn't been to this property in over 20 years since it was a Four Seasons, but wanted to try it over Christmas since family has now moved within minutes of the resort. The somewhat recent renovations look fantastic and the lobby areas and grounds are beautiful. Steven at the front desk was exceptional and helped select a room that was perfect for what I needed. My nephews really enjoyed the pool and slides. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in the area!
Always an excellent experience. Truly our home away from home. That's all I think I need to say but this thing wants 100 characters :). I recommend Park Hyatt.
Just Outstanding. Steve D and Daniella must be doing something right. Every single one of their staff I encountered demonstrated outstanding customer orientation: Janette, Leslie, Tom, Tasha, Stephen, Natalie, and Amit. Please duly recognize and reward each of them.
Best part of my stay was eating at Ponte Lago. Best tasting example of Coastal cuisine. For us, is was the best part of our stay at the Park Hyatt. We had the octopus and mushrooms and both blew us out of the water so we re-arranged our departure to try the buffet breakfast. The mushrooms came with a delicious mole. The complimentary arepas were so delicious: Oaxacan cheese and homemade tomatillo salsa. The octopus came with an olive mix and aioli.
This was our first visit and Uri gave us excellent service. You can tell he loves his job. We were celebrating our anniversary and so glad we came here.
We ended our experience with the churros and a happy anniversary chocolate berry delight l. Can't wait to return and try more items
Very beautful Christmas decorations with the tree outside. Excellent and clean faciliities. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.
Great location, great food, great hospitality!
Absolutely nothing to complain about.
I spent there 3 days - 2 nights on IT Conference, it was a great experience.
I’m traveling with two small children and chose Park Hyatt Aviara because we stayed here three years ago, back when it was a Category 6 property. The experience back then was wonderful. Now it’s a Category 7 — and frankly, the service doesn’t even come close to justifying the upgrade.
From the moment we arrived, things felt off. The Chromecast in our living room was broken. The next morning, we requested both a repair and housekeeping. Hours later, someone had clearly entered the room to fiddle with the TV, but the room itself was completely untouched — still a mess, no cleaning, no update, nothing. And the Chromecast is still broken.
When I went to the front desk to ask why housekeeping never came, the response I got was: “Well, we sent them a note.”
That was the entire response. No apology. No ownership. No follow-through. Just a completely nonchalant shrug from a supposedly five-star resort.
What made this even more frustrating is that we’re on a short trip with young kids. Instead of enjoying our stay, we spent a huge portion of our time waiting around in a messy room for basic services that never arrived. The indifference from staff was honestly the most disappointing part.
We came back expecting excellence — what we found was a clear deterioration. This does not feel like a Category 7 Hyatt in any sense.
I rarely write reviews, but families should know: if you expect genuine hospitality, communication, or even reliable basics, this property is no longer what it used to be.
