Park Hyatt Aviara

Wow wow wow! My family and I had such a lovely time at this property. Staff anticipated our needs and provided us a little bit larger room. We had great views of the pool from our balcony. The Aviara is my families gold standard by which all other prosperities we stay at are compared to. Such a peaceful property with welcoming and attentive staff. Can't wait for a return trip

This resort lives up to all their stars and diamonds. Clean and comfortable and easy to get around the property. Beware, if you decide to take a walk down to racquet club or golf club – it’s uphill all the way back 😊 I recommend grabbing a book or journal, walking around to find a comfortable space, then sitting and relaxing for as long as possible, or until you get hungry.

Speaking of food. I attended a business conference and our food selections represented the onsite dining offerings. Everything was fantastic, sushi, seafood, grilled meats, veggies... so I recommend the restaurants: Ember & Rye and Ponto Lago. The lobby bar is open air, weather permitting, and enjoyable inside or on the spacious patio overlooking the grounds - a great spot for a sunset cocktail.

The resort is very easy to get to from Hwy 5. SAN airport is 32 miles and the Carlsbad location makes it easy to get to many of the San Diego area attractions.

Excellent customer service from the Parking Staff to the staff at check out. Staff was courteous and professional; everyone we had contact with ask if there was anything we needed or they could help with. Carlsbad, CA location was beautiful with views of the Ocean. The hotel and grounds are well maintained and easy to navigate around. Would Highly recommend.

Fantastic property with an amazing staff. The managers Stephen and Ashley went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. I highly recommend this hotel. You will not be disappointed.

Stunning hotel with great view and nice decor everywhere. They set up a big jumper house during spring break. There is only a few suites so we didn’t end up getting one.

My family absolutely loved our stay here. My kids really enjoyed the pool and water slides. The staff helped make our son’s birthday special upon arrival. There is a game room with foosball and pool table, couple arcade games, and a mini golf room. We enjoyed the Racquet Club there, where there is tennis and pickleball courts, and you can play croquet there. We went during spring break, so the hotel set up bounce house and obstacle course for kids to enjoy. The rooms were clean and comfortable. I appreciated the nightly turndown service replenishing fresh towels and drinking water bottles.

Be prepared to spend alot of money on food. If not have at least 15 min drive to find food.
Rooms are spacious and clean. Shower pressure not great.
Pool areas are relaxing and fun. Poolside food service was great.
Market inside was expensive but at least food was available and on time. Nespresso coffee in rooms and a fridge was a plus. Loved that. Great coffee.
Staff did not take the time to inform us of anything about hotel.

Amazing experience. Best customer service overall I have experienced in quite some time. I had an electric car and they charged for me overnight. I had so many pieces of luggage and they put everything into our car perfectly when we left. Just a great experience.

Amazing girls' trip at Park Hyatt Aviara for grandma, mom, and 4-year old daughter for spring break. Perfect amenities, pool hours, pool menu, family friendly activities, fitness classes, entertainment, cleanliness, and breakfast.

We booked our family’s Easter weekend stay through the American Express Fine Hotels and Resorts program, and it turned out to be a truly memorable and luxurious experience. We chose this property while visiting the Carlsbad area for a family event, and it exceeded our expectations in many ways.

**Pros:**

* **Outstanding pre-arrival communication:** After booking, I reached out to request a microwave for my special needs child, along with hypoallergenic bedding. The hotel responded promptly and confirmed all accommodations, which gave us peace of mind before arrival.

* **Personalized service:** Prior to check-in, we received a detailed message from our reservations coordinator, Olivia Z, outlining activities and events for the weekend. This helped us plan our stay and feel welcomed before we even arrived.

* **Smooth and welcoming check-in:** Check-in was quick and seamless. Caleb at the front desk was extremely accommodating and made the experience even better. We were pleasantly surprised with a room upgrade, which made the stay even more special. Staff also provided reusable water cans and a clear summary of our included benefits.

* **Beautiful and well-prepared accommodations:** Our suite was spacious, clean, and thoughtfully set up with all requested items. The extra bathroom and scenic lagoon view were especially appreciated for a family stay.

* **Family-friendly amenities:** The property offers plenty for kids, including an arcade area, mini golf, fire pits for s’mores, and pool activities. These added a lot of value and kept our children entertained throughout the stay.

* **Reliable room service and dining perks:** Room service was prompt and efficient. The included breakfast offered a solid variety of options, including fresh fruit, pastries, and a made-to-order omelette station.

* **Convenient late checkout:** The guaranteed late checkout allowed us to enjoy our final day without feeling rushed, which made a big difference for traveling with kids.

* **Special holiday events:** The Easter egg hunt was a highlight for our family, with designated areas for younger children that made participation more accessible.

**Cons:**

* **Valet-only parking:** There is no self-parking option. While valet service was helpful, this may be inconvenient for some guests.

* **Dining clarity during events:** We misunderstood one of the poolside event advertisements and expected food to be included. Clearer communication around offerings would help avoid confusion.

* **Technology issues:** We had difficulty connecting to the in-room casting system despite following the instructions. This was disappointing, especially for keeping kids entertained during downtime.

* **Breakfast pricing for additional guests:** While the included breakfast benefit was great, the cost for additional guests can add up quickly.

* **Crowd management during events:** During the Easter egg hunt, some older children joined areas intended for younger participants, which slightly impacted the experience.

* **Possible bug exposure:** Toward the end of our stay, it appeared that my daughter may have been bitten, which caused a rash on her arm. This raised some concern that there may be bugs present in certain areas.

**Overall:**

This was an exceptional stay with attentive service, thoughtful accommodations, and plenty of family-friendly activities. Olivia Z and Caleb both contributed to making our experience feel personalized and welcoming. Despite a few minor issues, the overall experience was outstanding, and we would absolutely consider returning in the future.

Beautiful property, very nice suite, nice pool for families with excellent service there. There’s a very nice game room for kids and we used the market there several times and it was as overpriced as expected. Checkin was relatively efficient but the lady who checked us in seemed a little snobbish to me. She did offer our kids toys so that got rid of some of my annoyance. Housekeeping didn’t come until the later afternoon afternoon and one of the times, they halfheartedly cleaned it, even though we leave tips daily. Valet was expensive, quick and for the most part friendly, especially the lady who works the desk there. One of the valet attendants got upset at my wife for accidentally driving off without the keys and he told her not to do that. We were dealing with three young kids and it was an accident that we drove off. Don’t make it sound like we did it on purpose.

Overall, a nice stay at a nice property with a nice suite.

Let's start with the positives:
1) Property is beautiful. From the lobby to the grounds, the property is stunning.
3) The suites are wonderful. Roomy, well laid out and a pleasant room experience.

Here's the skinny:
1) Staff service levels were attrocious. Staff seemed disengaged and focused on personal issues. I noticed, several times, staff texting on phones instead of working or having personal conversations in the hallway.
2) Housekeeping was attrocious. They would stop by the room in the morning. Due to my circumstances, I needed services in the afternoon. They would promise to return but failed to do so. My room was serviced 1 time during a 5 day stay.
3) Due to the poor experience, I cut my stay short. Customer service never inquired as to why I was leaving early. They were insistent on charging me the early departure fee.
4) Management never checked in during my stay. Had they done so, I would have shared my feedback. I don't like to complain and I believe the difference between a high end resort and a motel is the pro-activity of management to ensure a positive experience. From my experience, management could care less about how their guests are doing.

I expect more from a Park Hyatt. This location failed miserably from a service standpoint. Avoid - there are plenty of high end options available in the area.

The service at this hotel is exceptional! I was blown away by that. Yes, the hotel is gorgeous and the location stunning, but it's the team that makes the difference. Alex at the front desk and Nicole at the bar are standouts. But everyone was truly wonderful. The room was beautifully clean and thoughtfully appointed. Every single banquet meal I had was incredible, and banquet food at hotels isn't always the best. Here it absolutely was. I would go back here in a heartbeat!!!

Beautiful resort! I plan to return with my family. The rooms are excellent, staff is great, housekeeping did an outstanding job.

The personalized customer service my family of 5 experienced at Park Hyatt Aviara Resort was outstanding at every. single. turn. Before arrival, I received several emails from Esther Hong preparing for our special trip celebrating my son's 6th birthday. Her email contained valuable information for our stay at the Park Hyatt Aviara, reservation help for restaurants/amenities on property, and nearby local recommendations for kids' activities. From the moment we arrived on property, we felt a very warm welcome from Annie at the reception check in. She wished my son, Andrew, a happy 6th birthday and informed us that we were upgraded to a suite in close proximity to the family pool. We had arrived around 10am and were able to check in early and get to our room. She offered to bring the kids small spa robes and slippers and gave them each really cute (high quality) stickers. She was very personable and kind. Zoltan was placing our luggage in the room before we had even walked down to the first floor. We didn't even need to wait a moment before getting our swimsuits on and heading to the pool. He showed me how to turn the lights on in the living room -- I NEVER would have found this switch. Have you seen/heard the Nate Bargatze comedy sketch about not finding the light switch in the hotel? Please google it and take a listen. I'll wait.
Shortly after we arrived to the room, Esther greeted us at the door with personalized dolphin stuffed animals with our kids' names embroidered on them. At this point, I was completely blown away by the kindness exhibited by the staff to our family. She personally wished our son a happy birthday as well. Her attention to detail and compassion should be recognized. I am only an Explorist within the World of Hyatt program but she made us feel like the most valuable guests on property - truly VIPs.
Sydney, our server at the pool, was attentive, efficient, and kind. She did not miss a beat to bring our drinks shortly after arrival to the pool. Our kids were delighted to drink a cotton candy lemonade drink with gummy bears and sprinkles - I mean, come on. What 4-, 6-, or 8-yr-old wouldn't be delighted?
When we made our way back to the room to prepare for our afternoon outing, we were surprised with a chocolate birthday cake and three Sprites for my 3 children.
Roger at the valet offered great advice on our beach outing. Each of the men and women at the valet were hardworking, efficient, and helpful. We never had to wait long for our car to arrive (and my husband refused to call down for it ahead of time.) :)
When we dined at Ember & Rye on our last evening, Erika, our server surprised us with a special menu for our kids whose collective love of buttered noodles is unsurpassed. They were brought jars with paintbrushes to "paint" butter, parsley, and parmesan cheese on their pasta. What a fun activity for them to remember.
I want to make a special shout out to Chad Eding for his ultimate role in coordinating the BEST vacation our family has ever had. Thank you to you and your entire staff for this incredible experience. Our three children have made such positive core memories this past week - for this I am eternally grateful. As a result, I am loyal to the World of Hyatt program for life and I honestly cannot wait to return to the Park Hyatt Aviara for our next family vacation. Both of my daughters have already asked us to return for their birthdays.

My husband would like to add that we did not feel like the staff was trying to be kind in order to get a good review; they were genuinely kind and friendly people. Nothing was forced or awkward.

The overall experience was amazing and I am grateful the time and experience. The property is beautiful and well maintained, the staff is present and available. Rooms are beautiful and clean. I do wish the hotel was closer to the ocean or that they had a way to access the ocean via shuttle.
