The location is great. It is right next to the Metaxirismena subway stop (M2). The three hop on/hop off tour buses are also located right here. There are a number of hotels, eateries/coffee shops, restaurants, kiosks for buying snacks, cigarettes, water, etc. Great location.
External Atmosphere: The hotel is off a busy traffic circle so it gives it an energetic big city vibe. I love the energy.
Internal Hotel Atmosphere: It is nice, clean and sleek.
Room: The room was small and standard. It faced a quiet courtyard. There is no iron and board in the room. The room was clean. You cannot flush toilet paper, they tell you this when you check in, it is written on your room check in document, and it's also a sticker by the toilet that tells you not to throw paper in the toilet. You will have to collect plastic bags or bring them with you as the bathroom trash can is small. Linens are changed every 3 days. There was a TERRIBLE sewer gas smell emanating from the bathroom. Luckily the weather was nice, so I kept the balcony door open, which helped with the smell.
Noise level: I visited the hotel February 2-5, 2026. The 5th and 6th floors were under construction. The hotel placed me on the 4th floor. The construction started at around 8:30am and ended around 5pm, with some random hammering occurring here and there after 5pm. Make sure you ask for a room away from the construction noise. This was a bummer for me because I usually like to go out early, come home around 2pm or 3pm, rest/take a nap, and then hit the streets again around 5pm. The active construction noise prevented peaceful rest and naps.
Service: The housekeeping was fine. The front desk staff were pleasant, proficient and thorough. The Cloud 9 bar had amazing cocktails. The breakfast was nice. It had a good variety of food and whole pieces of fruit you can take away. The hotel restaurant was also nice. I ate one lunch and one dinner at the restaurant. Lovely. Oh and the VIEW from the rooftop restaurant is AMAZING!!!!!! so worth going to the rooftop to see it.
Due to the construction, the sewer gas smell, and the flushing situation, I would not recommend this hotel. Maybe the more expensive rooms are better, but not room 403. It was fine due to being gone from the hotel room for 8-10 hours a day, and I did not feel a need to bring it up to the hotel staff. However, I would not stay at this hotel again. I would visit the rooftop restaurant again, though.
Having always liked the rooftop bar I finally decided to stay a night in the hotel. It was deeply disappointing and feels like such a missed opportunity: bog standard design, no flair, nothing distinctive, a view onto an inner courtyard with the backs of other buildings. Basically just an identikit, tepid and uninspring hotel room with limited space for the price and little natural light. Not what I had expected at all.
I want to sincerely thank the supervisor Katerina for the warmest of welcoming and in particular for making our New Year's night an amazing adventure. Due to her knack of knowing people we spent the night on the rooftop restaurant where the views were marvellous.
Super friendly staff , very good breakfast. one step to the metro station
Very good executive lounge
We will come back!
Thank you
Katrina and so many of the staff were very helpful organising trips and ensuring our stay in Athens was comfortable and enjoyable. When we had issues with local issues they assisted to save us money and help plan day trips and travel in Athens. The hotel has a friendly atmosphere and the staff are always alert and ready to help. Thank you Stanley and all the staff (unfortunately I don’t know all their names ) but you have ensured that our experience was joyful and safe.
The Stanley is a great hotel! I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Athens! I stayed in a twin room with a friend from high school, and we had a great experience. Below you will find some detailed notes about the room, property, and the location.
The Room:
-We stayed in a room with two twin beds–the beds–they were very comfortable and large enough to fit even tall people like me (I'm 6-foot-2 for reference).
-The balcony was large and had great views of the city, the valley, the mountains, and the sea on a clear day
-In-unit air conditioning was powerful and allowed us to get the room cold enough to sleep comfortably
-Curtains in the room did not block all the light (it blocked the majority of it), so if you are sensitive to light, bring an eye mask
-The hotel was fairly quiet–I did not hear my neighbors at all, but if you sleep in (past 10 AM), you may be woken up by noise in the hallways from other guests/cleaning staff
-Room was very clean, and the staff did a great job keeping the room clean/in good shape
-The room had a mini-fridge (not stocked with items, just for storage of purchased items/complementary water bottles), a safe for valuables, and a coffee maker
Ammenties:
-Beautiful rooftop pool with stunning view of the Acropolis and the city
-Comfortable lounge chairs/beds by the pool that are ideal for relaxing (even in the off-season, it's a great place to hang out)
-Large rooftop restaurant/bar with amazing views
-Small fitness center with decent working equipment options (we did not use it, just looked at it quickly)
-The pool is not heated, so if you go in the off-season, expect cold water
Location:
-The Hotel is located next to the Metaxourgeio metro stop, which allows for easy and quick access to Athens' best sites (takes about 5-15 minutes to get to the major attractions, and they accept Apple Pay/tap to pay, so there is no need to buy a ticket)
-We felt safe walking around during the day/late at night, even though some of the surrounding buildings/streets looked quite rundown or abandoned
-The hotel is located close to Athens' Giza neighborhood, where there are many fun bars/clubs (we had a quick and relatively safe walk home after a night out)
-There is a great bakery and an additional coffee shop located right next to the hotel–the food was great and cheap!
Other Notes:
-We got a great price for this high-quality hotel in the off-season
-One of the few hotels in the city I could find that allowed you to select the twin bed option on Orbitz–this made me feel confident before check-in that I would not have to share a bed with my friend
-The staff allowed me to check in early since my room was ready (I arrived at 1 PM–two hours before check-in–and was able to go right to my room)
-Hotel staff and cleaning crew were very friendly
We had a truly wonderful experience at The Stanley Hotel. Everything went smoothly from the moment we arrived. The team has a very professional approach, the service is excellent, and every question or request is solved in less than a minute.
We stayed as a group and also rented the meeting room for our workshop. Both experiences were perfect. Ekaterina (Supervisor) supported us with all organizational matters and was incredibly helpful. Georgakis Konstantinos (Sales Manager) accompanied us from the very beginning until the last day and provided exceptional support. We truly felt welcomed and cared for.
I highly recommend The Stanley Hotel for anyone visiting Athens, whether for personal travel or business meetings. You will be in very good hands.
Warm regards, Diana
Outstanding hotel and the staff were amazing. Very friendly and attentive, treated us like friends. Can fully recommend coming here for a stay or just drinks on the rooftop bar
We really enjoyed our stay at The Stanley.
The room was comfortable and clean with a fantastic waterfall shower.
The hotel was quiet and in a great location right by a metro station.
Views of the Acropolis from the roof bar were fantastic.
All staff friendly and welcoming. I would definitely return.
We had a wonderful time at The Stanley. Whilst it is very much set up for larger coach parties we felt totally home and the hotel did not feel nearly as big as it actually is. The roof terrace was a real hit. We ate & drank in the roof top restaurant a few times and it was very enjoyable. A big shout out to Stavroula who was incredibly friendly and very efficient, she made our visits very special. Breakfast was a great experience evenery morning. A couple of small things could have improved our stay but quite minor - a couple of drawers in our room & a couple of chairs on the balcony. If we ever make it back to Athens we will definitely stay at The Stanley. Great location very close to the city centre my Metro
Great Hotel and Restaurant
Very nice and clean rooms. Friendly staff. Beautiful roof top view of the Acropolis! We were traveling with a tour group. The buffet breakfasts and dinners were excellent. Katerina, the supervisor at the buffet was friendly, welcoming and gave us great service! She works very hard!
Great hotel with wonderful rooftop pool and restaurant. The staff at the restaurant are lovely, especially Kleopatra who was super attentive and wonderful with our 6 year old boy. The hotel is not in a particularly great location but the metro is so close that it is not a problem. The only negative is there is quite alot of noise at night from outside - most nights we were woken up from people outside the hotel drinking. Overall though - we recommend this hotel.
This is a beautiful hotel. We stayed 4 nights here in one of the new updated luxury rooms. It was very nice and the extras like a complimentary stocked mini-bar were very appreciated. The staff were all very friendly and the restaurant was very good. The breakfast buffet was one of the best I've ever had. They even had a honeycomb dripping honey into a bowl. The view from the pool on the roof was spectacular.
Ridiculous that you can’t drink coffee or have a pastry round the pool - get sent to your room to eat not a great experience.
good staff & location not the best rooms for what u pay.
We flew in on the day on the day of general strike. Our original transportation was unable to pick us up so I contacted the Stanley Hotel for some advice. They arranged private pickup, which was awesome. Cant thank them enough ! Very clean excellent service
We had a wonderful dinner for a group of 28 people at Sweet Basil Roof Top Restaurant. Everything was excellent — from the food to the atmosphere — and we were warmly supported by Katerina and the entire team. Highly recommended for group events!
Great hotel with amazing pool.
Room was ok for a couple of nights.
Staff were friendly & helpful.
Convenient location with hop-on hop-off bus stop outside.
Beautiful pool, amazing views, delicious food at the restaurant, attentive and kind staff, great location near subway
This hotel is in need of a total remodel. The rooftop pool and restaurant were beautiful. The rooms were old and the bath was the worst. The drain smelled of sewage. Bring a candle if you want to breath. The rooms did not have a full mirror. It was in an unsafe area. There was nothing to do in this neighborhood. I would rank walkability at a 2. I would not recommend this hotel for your visit.
The staff was nice but not worth having a subpar hotel. The Expedia rating should be 2☆ hotel.
