St George Hotel Rochester-Chatham

Breakfast was so poor.
No cutlery-ate cerial and yogurt with a serving spoon.
No hot water for coffee in dining room.
Really poor water pressure in shower.
Very noisy room.
Lift broken and no offer of help to carry cases to the third floor.
Mix up with parking-
Other guests were really angry and no management came to support the young member of staff in the dining room

Die Dusche hat schlecht funktioniert. Die gesamte Anlage ist sehr in die Jahr gekommen.

The lift was not working throughout my two day stay.
I had specifically requested a room with elevator access to higher floors, despite which the hôtel never informed me of the lift not being in a working condition, while giving me a room on the 3rd floor. I am 65 years old and in any case it was the basic duty of the hôtel to inform in advance of the lift breakdown so that I could have had a chance to cancel that booking, or I should have been given a the lower most floor in the hôtel.
The staff did however take my bag up to the room.
Breakfast was average

The Bed mattress was hollowed to the point I could feel the springs digging sideways into my body (Room 104).

The bathroom light didn't work.

Adjoining rooms could be continually heard.

I went downstairs for breakfast, which was included the next morning, on my way to check out and found that there was nobody around and no breakfast served.

At reception, there was only a basket for guests to leave their keys in.

Unfortunately, it's not a good experience at all.

Mattresses were not comfortable,some TVs were not working,had to change my room a couple of times. And for two days the heating wasn't working

We were on 4th floor, lift out of order, room was cold, no hot water or pressure for a shower.
I have celiac disease and no gluten free options, not even a piece of fruit

Car parking a bit of a carry on but staff very helpful and helped out.

Absolutely appalling. The common areas were filthy, room was freezing, and heating did not work even when asked, apparently it was on a timer, I was in the room from 19:00 - 07:00 and the heating never came on…. So not sure when it was supposed to. The room was so cold the floor in the bathroom condensates and never dried the entire time I was there.. and was wet from the clean the morning before arriving.

There were 2 fire alarms going off during the night and apparently this was due to people taking a shower….!

I never tried dinner but the restaurant was like a ghost town… no one was trying it. The next morning … apparently had only booked the continental breakfast but that was not clear when making the booking, was basically some cheap cereal, a muffin and some bread. Coffee was not even any good.

I would never stay here again, find somewhere else.

I wish at At check-in the breakfast or lack of it was explained. Included in the price is breakfast, we learnt the following morning this was a continental breakfast. But it was a very limited selection of cereal, muffins, bit of fruit, few yoghurts and toast. No pastries or similar. We were not even offered over options or told it was extra for the full breakfast on checking in.

At breakfast, The milk jug for hot drinks had a milk scum line. So not very inviting to use.

The staff member overseeing the breakfast was not courteous and quite abrupt and assumed we knew the breakfast options. Seemed almost inconvenienced we were there

The lift wasn’t working.

The place needs investing in to bring it up to date. We had a superior room but it wasn’t anything special and the furniture and fittings are still dated.

More choice for breakfast.and proper heating in the room. It’s a shame because I’ve always had good things to say about the hotel
