Impeccable service and top notch spa services
From the moment you enter, your stress dissipates as you see the blue silica waters and everyone walking around in spa
robes. Your host provides you with a personalized check-in and itinerary review along with a tour of the retreat and spa. It is critically important that you reach out DIRECTLY to the retreat to book activities, meals and spas services as they don’t seem to get Expedia messages. Also, check-in is 4pm or after or there is an early fee of $500 (the sister limited hotel w/private lagoon does not charge for an early check-in). Check-out is at 11am or a fee applies. I would recommend 2 nights to enjoy in full. This retreat has a private lagoon that you can enjoy after hours all well. There is a meditation room with a ceiling waterfall and fireplace room that is so calming along with the spa fully body ritual. I would highly recommend the floating massages. A once in a lifetime experience.
After you check-in you just need a bathing suit along w/robes and spa shoes they provide for the rest of your stay.
A must is a room with the lagoon view as you will have seen plenty of lava fields. The shower in the room is one of the best ever. The stocked mini refrigerator is a nice touch and it is restocked with turn down service. The bed needs to be firmer with softer sheets.
The breakfast was standard but eggs came out cold. The spa has nice food options for lunch. Moss is a safe and pricey Michelin star restaurant, enjoyed Ox and Dill way more.
Great hotel and spa, really well presented building and the rooms were clean, well equipped and quiet. The breakfast was excellent. The staff were very attentive and polite. OK it's a little pricey but well worth the experience overall. The only negative for me was from the Lava restaurant where I had probably the worst steak ever especially given it's hefty price tag.
The Retreat gave a bona fide feel of luxury and quality service, not to mention the lagoon, aurora, spa and especially the ever existing peril of another volcanic eruption, combined to form a once-in-a-lifetime experience! We may want come back in the summer to taste out the long-day light season at the Blue Lagoon!
R
very nice , but overpriced
One of the most amazing hotels in the world, hewn out of a 600-year-old lava field and connecting with the Blue Lagoon. This is not only Iceland’s number 1 hotel, but totally world-class. Stylish, fantastic service, fluent English by ALL staff, super-modern rooms (lighting can be a bit confusing), keyless entry to room via wrist device, extraordinary spa, good food - what more can one ask? Our only complaint: service in the restaurants is s.l.o.w.
To say I was pampered is an understatement. Everything was incredible! Get the floating yoga massage. 😌
Amazing place for a couple to unwind and relax.
This was the nicest hotel I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. It was beautiful and so nicely kept. The staff was amazing. The Blue Lagoon at The Retreat was very private and quiet. Truly amazing trip. The Retreat was $$$, but worth every penny.

Very beautiful and top class service. Luxury amenities and great spa treatments. I loved doing the Ritual and beautiful breakfast spread and views. Highly recommend
We were told all the food/wine/coffee/drinks on the fridge and cabinet were complimentary and free but we were charged for the 2 beers we took from the same fridge where all the drinks are kept. Its a lie! Inaccurate information considering how incredibly expensive to stay in this particular hotel. It is not worth to stay for four nights as we spent most of our days outdoor.
An amazing experience.
Our so-called suite was tiny with a bathtub in the room. Our (reconfirmed!) dinner reservation was lost, though they honored it after I threw a fit. Restaurant was crowded with bused-in tour groups. Bed was very soft. Spa treatments were interesting but overall a disappointment.
Spectacular!
Dream property. We did not want to leave. This is one place I would return to again without a doubt. The staff is super attentive and kind. Comfort of rooms is over the top. Best ever
Amazing!
