Ellington Lodge at The Concorde

Having stayed previously, 3 years ago, we were disappointed to see that the rooms have not been redecorated, they are looking very tired, are very dated and need some maintenance. Our room needed the carpet replacing, the hook on the bathroom door was not fit for purpose, it was ready to fall off if any weight was added. The bathroom as a whole was beyond ready for a refit.
We arrived a little late and asked for the receptionist to book us a table at the restaraunt next door whilst we got changed, she said she would but once we got there they had not heard of our booking.

The bathroom needed cleaning and the toilet seat was broken.

The room didn’t smell too good. The bath is way too deep to get in and out of my wife actually slipped and hurt herself.

Room 1 - The carpets in the room looked old & tired but appeared clean. There was a damp smell in the room when we first walked in. Probably unused for a while as it was right next to the reception. The hot water was intermittent in the shower. There were specks of mould on the bathroom ceiling. Only one hand towel was provided for a dual stay room. Air conditioning unit was not working and therefore the room was pretty warm until late evening despite the windows being left open. There was no fan available in the room. The safe in the room was no working. A TV was in the room but unfortunately the remote would not work to change the channels. Only the on/off and the volume buttons worked. A pleasant lady at the reception in the evening exchanged the remote kindly but it made no difference. Later the night care taker tried to fix it but failed. He said he would ask the night supervisor and be back. That was the last we saw of him! All in all the stay was definitely not worth the money I paid via booking.com. This is perhaps the first property I have stayed using booking.com that did not come close to my expectation. I would pay perhaps half of what I paid to stay in a place like that next time.

Unfortunately the bar was over expensive a single bells and lemonade a a glass of white wine over £20 ( didn’t think we were stopping in the Hilton )
They had no cider in the main bar but I tend to think they concentrated on keeping it for the concert side
Also the kitchen was taking breakfast orders when we asked for tomatoes they said all gone which is down to bad ordering management

Nothing. You have to accept that the hotel is older and therefore not the most modern but Is quaint and the setting is lovely which makes up for it.

Room looked a bit tired.

TV didn’t work, air conditioning didn’t work

Wall lights in the room were both defective. There was a very old air con unit which did not work and looked bad. Toilet seat was loose and dangerous. Generally thd room was tired and not up to the standard we expected fir thd monet paid. Bed was really small by today's standards. Will not stay again. Mentioned some if this at reception when checking out and staff didn't seem surprised or bothered. Also vert noisy until late from function nearby.
