Breakfast OK.
Wall lights in the room were both defective. There was a very old air con unit which did not work and looked bad. Toilet seat was loose and dangerous. Generally thd room was tired and not up to the standard we expected fir thd monet paid. Bed was really small by today's standards. Will not stay again. Mentioned some if this at reception when checking out and staff didn't seem surprised or bothered. Also vert noisy until late from function nearby.
Comfortable
TV didnt work, not an issue as I didnt need it. Staff were great
Sehr freundliches und hilfsbereites Personal.
Staff were brilliant
All good
Staff very helpful
Room not clean nasal discharge on wall near light
I booked this for the location, in anticipation of our cruise from Southampton. Having been at the venue for many years as a performer, I was looking forward to staying here….. but oh dear :-(
The room was in an appalling state of repair and cleanliness. Almost every tile in the tiny bathroom was cracked, with dirt ingrained into the damaged surfaces. The showerhead was coated in brown grime and limescale, making it feel neglected and unhygienic. The bed was old, worn out and deeply uncomfortable, with every spring painfully noticeable throughout the night. The dated brown furniture was literally falling apart, while the carpet was caked in dust around the skirting boards and bathroom doorway, clearly indicating that it had not been properly deep-cleaned for quite some time.
Any hope of a decent night’s sleep was quickly shattered. Loud music from the marquee directly outside our room continued well into the evening, while the threadbare, ageing curtains failed to block either the noise or the light. External lighting flooded the room throughout the night and into the early morning, making restful sleep virtually impossible.
We raised our concerns with the receptionist, who was courteous, apologetic and explained that the hotel was currently refurbishing its rooms. Unfortunately, ours was clearly not one of the refurbished rooms. Whilst her apology was appreciated, no offer of compensation or goodwill gesture was made despite the unacceptable standard of the accommodation.
And so ends my association with what was once a truly great music venue and hotel. It has become tired, dirty and poorly maintained, offering accommodation that falls well below the standard its prices suggest. To make matters worse, the adjoining music venue no longer attracts the calibre of acts that once made it worth visiting.
To borrow the title of one of the neighbouring music venue’s most memorable performances, ‘I Gotta Feeling’ this hotel will continue to disappoint its guests unless significant investment is made to restore it to an acceptable standard.
All the best.
Hotel Staff were very helpful & their 'helper' little Ollie was just cuteness itself. Breakfast staff were great too - all helped make the visit.
Fan was OK but Air Conditioning would have been better.
Nice peaceful/relaxing place to stay with some really nice walking tracks/lakes very close by.
Nothing
The setting was beautiful
The bed! It was awful, it was the worst night sleep I’ve had at a hotel!
All desk clerks were friendly , they always had a smile and spoke to me every time I left for the venue or returned
I had brilliant dry weather, could have been a problem if wet and cold to walk quite a distance to the venue for entertainment or breakfast
Staff were great. Big towels. The wedding we attended was great. Held outside. The team running it all were competent, efficient and everything went smoothly. 10/10 for them
The room was old fashioned. Had cobwebs which bothered me but not my husband. Couldn't get cold bath tap working. Was then explained it wasn't a cold tap but temp regulator. Never seen that before. Also bulbs missing from lamps which made it look neglected.
