Customer Service Not Up to Standard
Pros:

We don’t expect American hotels to be perfect, though a broken light, charger, and ice machine in one place is a bit much. What we do expect is helpful service. And some attempt to solve problems, rather than pass them on to the customer.

With a very early flight out of Tucson, we chose La Quinta because it was close to the airport, and had a shuttle every half hour. When checking in the night before, I double-checked the shuttle would run at 330am. Yes, just be down in the lobby by 325am, I was told.

When we went to check out at 315am, the desk clerk advised us the driver was sick and there was no shuttle. The sign on the desk, however, still advertised the shuttle service. When we insisted that she must have a solution, she called the hotel next door. They didn’t have a driver either! We asked if she would call a taxi and she advised she could, but we would have to pay. Apparently her boss was not contactable, and she had no idea what to do.

So we walked. Even though it is only about a ten-minute walk, we grumbled the whole way. La Quinta’s social media says “our friendly staff will help you”. In this case, they didn’t.

Pros:

Close to the airport. Very nice staff. Our room had a cracked window and the bathroom could use an update. Other hotels offer better breakfasts.
