Rude and untrustworthy
Beautiful setting with balcony over water. Clean, friendly environment. Breakfast was very nice.
My wife and spent two nights here and enjoyed it. The location is ideal. It’s on an island that is next to downtown Svolvaer. You drive or walk over a short, one lane bridge to get to the hotel.
The hotel is adjacent to a public parking lot. We didn’t have any problems getting a space and the EasyPass app worked very well in terms of paying for parking.
We stayed in a “best view king” room. The room was pretty ordinary and very small. E.g. you had to be careful not to bump the tv on the wall when you walked around the bed. The room came with a small balcony that had 2 chairs and a view of the water.
The breakfast buffet was very good. The restaurant also offers dinner, and maybe, lunch. The buffet dinner looked very good. There’s no mention of dinner being available on the Scandic website, however, or I would have considered eating dinner here. (We made reservations elsewhere in advance.)
I rate the hotel a 4 - average of a 3 for the room and a 5 for everything else.
Great
This was our biggest disappointment of our Norway trip. We spent 12 days traveling down from Tromso to Reine. The location was great but the hotel looked like it was falling apart. The sliding door to the patio didn't close. The staff was supposed to send someone but did not. The exterior looked in need of some work. If it wasn't such an expensive hotel, I may have overlooked this but for what you are paying you have better choices in Svolvair.
overall a very pleasant stay but with some buts
pros
rooms with balcony are comfortable and scenic, even if not large
breakfast was large varied and excellent
cons
1) it is important that guest are clearly informed during check-in that room cleaning and setting (with no charge) is only upon client request.
2) Since sunny days may be not so frequent in Svolvaer, please instruct your staff not to inflexibly pull the shade panels in the veranda restaurant at the first sunbeam, deprivng client of a wonderful sight and making clients having breakfast in partial darkness (which may be frustrating after rainy days)

Hotel view was spectacular, perfect location, easy for the ferry and yours. Best breakfast selection. Staff lovely
Booked room with balcony & seaview. View from room wasn't as shown on webpage. Small balcony with only one chair, despite room was booked for two persons. Ventilaton fan on bathroom very dirty! Nice staff & good breakfast, but all in all: for the price paid, I expected a bit more.
There is no air conditioning anywhere in lofoten, which is completely fine. However, at this hotel in the sunroom, which is where you have breakfast there are no windows that can be opened. As a result, you are absolutely sweating, to which point I was becoming nauseous and could not eat breakfast. They need to change the design so you can open a window to get some airflow. Furthermore, when we went down to have breakfast, there was not one table available for us to sit at. The hotel has a small little patio seating area, which is lovely; obviously with the seating area being outside, you are going to get seagull poop, however, during the entire three day duration of our stay, they had not clean one of the patio chairs with the seagull poop on it. They just pushed it off to the side. Lastly, while we did book the standard book with a sea view, I was surprised at how small this room was. There was barely any room to open a There was barely any room to open a suitcase, and if you managed to open one suitcase, there was nowhere for you to walk.
Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio at Scandic Svolvær just doesn’t add up. We paid €450 for two nights, which is hard to justify considering the overall experience.
The rooms are extremely small, there’s no real way to ventilate them properly, and there’s no parking included – despite the high price. The beds looked like they were made by a teenager in a rush – messy and not up to hotel standards at all.
On the plus side, the internet was stable, the shower worked well, and the staff was generally friendly. However, one breakfast experience stood out in a negative way: I was clearly waiting for hot water, and a staff member saw me standing there but continued to slowly restock cups without acknowledging me at all. Not rude – just indifferent.
Breakfast itself was okay, but nothing special. Sadly, for this price, I expected much more. Comfortable basics, better attention to detail, and at least a proper bed setup. Definitely room for improvement.
Lovely ground floor room with balcony. Free breakfast was welcome and location is walking distance to everything. Great stay thank you.
At 77 years old, we lots of trouble getting up and down the stairs with our luggage. Won't stay here again for that reason. We had the buffet. The food was average at best.
It was a very relaxing and welcoming environment. Highly recommend this hotel. The staff are kind and hospitable and the breakfast was scrumptious and the best breakfast we had on a month long Europe trip.
Spend 2 nights at Scandic Svolvær. Great loaction and great staff.
Room was so hot and it was not possible to adjust the temperature at all. Had a Superior Balcony (pictures online is misguiding). You have an incredible view, but you and others can look into esch others Room due to low walls on the balcony. Bathroom smelled bad.
We had the best stay – loved it. The location is great, on its own little island in the harbor, justa few hundred meters from the town center – an easy walk. There is pay parking right outside the hotel which is very handy. Reception staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was a little on the small side, but clean, comfortable, and bright. We had an amazing sea view and could watch the ships moving in and out of the harbor. The only complaint I have about the room is the lack of a mini-fridge. We ate at the hotel restaurant one night, a huge buffet spread, and it was so good, the best meal we’d had in a while. The buffet breakfast was equally good – really enjoyed it. There is no gym there, but the hotel has a corporate agreement with Feel 24 Fitness, 500m away, providing free entrance to their very well-equipped gym. Well worth a visit. Overall we had a super stay and would definitely recommend this hotel to other travellers.
Amazing Breakfast
Great location on the waterfront. Staff very helpful.
Great 1 night stay. The rooms are very efficient :) but the stay overall was great. And the breakfast, my goodness, absolutely amazing. Book the place just for the breakfast and the view in the lobby dining area. Would definitely stay again without question.
Excellent breakfast, also great to have free tea all day. Room was really quiet.
Only negatives were leaky shower that sprayed everywhere and broken bathroom door handle but these didn’t affect our enjoyment.
Highest roomprice in Svolvaer for a small room of 12-14 sqm without ventilation with a bathroom of 2,5 sqm.
Poor service from reseption. Had to ask 3 times for roomcleaning before it happened. Asked for bigger room but all are alike since baracks from Lillehammer olympics were used to raise the hotel.
