Gorgeous hotel, extremely friendly staff, brilliant location.
Staff were great
Building works going on and no mention of it before booking (no room discount or special offer to compensate). Free coffee and bun or something would have been a nice gesture.
Location. Casual relaxed atmosphere. Staff charming. Excellent food at dinner and breakfast although service poor
Service in the restaurant slow and erratic.
Bar and lounge area often full.

Great location. Slightly anonymous — you could be in London or LA.
The design is fine, but the aircon shines a bright green light into the room at all hours. Hoxton: people come to hotels to sleep! We need dark and quiet please.
Wow we have had the best time in Amsterdam! ☺️ This was a perfect hotel for us. Beautiful, stylish, clean, lots of space, friendly staff, great location - it’s right next to the tram stop which is so handy - it’s very easy to get around.
Rooms:
The rooms are spacious and stylish. The bed is very comfortable- I feel like I slept well, and loved the blacked out curtains. The hotel room also has a fan (no aircon) but the Dyson fan was powerful enough to keep us cool. The bathroom was gorgeous, clean, powerful shower.
Location:
The hotel is pretty close to get to everything you will want to see because of the tram, but it’s also far enough away that it is lovely and quiet. So I’d say it’s perfect location. Also the tram is very easy to use (scan Apple Pay when you get on, and again when you get off - that’s it! Very affordable too).
Staff:
The staff were very friendly and were happy to help us with extra oat milks and tea bags for the hotel rooms so we could enjoy tea (typical Brits- we love our tea🙈).
Food:
Breakfast at the hotel is a buffet with English breakfast style choices, yogurts, bread, toast, croissants, juices, teas. Very nice! We also had an evening meal which was gorgeous. Shout out to our wonderful waitress Lieke who gave us such good service and was so friendly. Thank you!
Pretty cool Photo Booth when you walk into the hotel too which we used and got some cool pics.
Toilets in the hotel were so clean!
5/5 great place to stay while in Amsterdam.
Booked to go to Amsterdam for my husbands 40th birthday. Last time we stayed more central and I wanted to go for something quieter with some nice restaurants nearby. The Hoxton is in a fabulous location, in a much quieter area of Amsterdam. It’s just a short walk to lots of lovely restaurants and great independent shops. If the evening liveliness is more your thing, it’s about a 15 minute walk away from the Red light district (so far enough away to get a really good quiet sleep!).
The hotel itself is great, we choose a cosy canal view room and it was a good size (super high ceilings) and did have a nice view of the canal and the beds are super comfy. Rainfall shower was a lovely treat. No complaints at all.
The restaurant and bar downstairs is called Lotti’s and we sat there most evenings before heading to our room to wind down, it’s just such a lovely vibe! During the day the bar is visited by individuals with laptops, and little dogs are allowed in too so it’s very relaxed.
They don’t provide room service for food but do have some essentials behind the reception desk that you can buy and take to your room such as drinks, crisps and of course Tony’s chocolate bars. I did end up spending €60 on these snacks and drinks which I found out when we checked out so bear that in mind!
I would recommend the Hoxton, we will definitely go back when we revisit Amsterdam in the future 😊
We had booked a Roomy Room with a large 2-person bed. Unfortunately that was a 1,5m wide bed. In the Netherlands a large 2-person bed is 1,8m to 2,0m wide. And they would not change it. We felt cheated.
Location was great! Very close to many of things you want to do in Amsterdam.
Since the shower is not contained it creates alot of water through bathroom, even with being careful. Messy!
The Hoxton Amsterdam is a charming heritage hotel in a fantastic location, right in the heart of the old city and within easy walking distance of many of Amsterdam’s attractions.
As expected with a historic building, there are some compromises. We experienced ventilation and electrical issues in our original room, although the staff were helpful and promptly arranged for us to move. Our “Cosy” room was clean and comfortable, but quite compact, making it a little difficult to move around with luggage.
The hotel offers a complimentary minibar, although ours contained only bottled water. There are also many stairs throughout the property, and adding a few ramps would greatly improve access for guests with heavy luggage or mobility challenges.
Check-in could also be more welcoming. The process felt focused on collecting credit card details rather than orientating guests to the hotel and its facilities.
Overall, The Hoxton offers character and an excellent central location, but given the premium room rates, I’d recommend comparing your options before booking.
great location nearby prime areas
small rooms, hot AC didn’t work
Location is amazing
Design is nice
So expensive for what you get: a very small room with the very bare minimum...
Very well located at walking distance to the main sites to visit
Very nice staff
Expensive for the overall level of the room
