We come here about five times a year, and every single time we return, it’s because of how welcomed and appreciated we feel. It’s rare to find a place that consistently delivers not just great service, but genuine warmth — and that’s exactly what keeps us coming back again and again.
The bar team — Jesús, Johnny, Ender, Yordi, Carlos, Oscar, and Miguel — are simply outstanding. Always welcoming, always smiling, and always ready with the perfect drink recommendation. Whether you’re in the mood for something classic or feeling adventurous, they are completely on point. They create such a fun, vibrant atmosphere and make every visit feel special. They don’t just serve drinks — they elevate the entire experience. From great recommendations to keeping you updated on what’s happening around the hotel, they truly go above and beyond.
The pool team and lifeguards deserve just as much recognition. Said , Oscar, Evelio, Luis, Jose, They are incredibly attentive — whether you need an umbrella adjusted, fresh towels, assistance with seating, or anything at all, they are immediately there to help. It’s especially heartwarming to see how attentive they are with families. They go above and beyond to ensure everyone feels safe, comfortable, and relaxed, and that level of care truly stands out.
And a very special thank you to Alex — he is amazing. Always friendly, always kind, and always thoughtful. His attention to detail makes such a difference — especially the way he takes care of guests by cleaning sunglasses with that special cleaner after a long day in the sun. It may seem like a small gesture, but it reflects the overall spirit of excellence here.
This hotel is beautiful, but it’s the people who make it unforgettable. We celebrate birthdays here, anniversaries here, family trips here — and we will continue to come back with our loved ones, our nieces and nephews, year after year. A beautifully located spot in the old town with an impressive patio. While the rooms are apparently very old, we just came here for breakfast and had the most enjoyable start into the day with freshly baked croissants, great Colombian coffee and a wonderful lulo drink. Oriana has welcomed us with real sense of hospitality and a big smile.
Breakfast was 10/10 service and each staff member were very professional and friendly.

Julian at El Coro was excellent staff member! He went above and beyond in accommodating our quick stay. He took the time to explain the history of the lounge and showcased us the Monk's ceremony while providing us world class service. The drinks and food were super as well!

Absolutely perfect service. Julian the waiter asked me what my tastes were and he recommended a magical concoction! Jesus the bartender made it happen with such talent, it was delicious! I suggest we call it the sour Sabrina after me....time will tell. I recommend this place for perfect drinks and personalized service.
This beautiful old building has a great bar with occasional live music and some of the best cocktails in the city. Julien and Jesus created a custom cocktail for my wife when she didn’t find anything on the menu she liked. I would love to return when the band is playing! The sentinel at the door is a nice touch, too.

Other servers/butlers that were amazing were Jaison, Julieth, Luis Carlos, Alondra, Katharyn, Jeremy, and Alejandro! There were many other great people but didn’t catch their names. Stay here and you will not be disappointed!

Fantástico!
This hotel is not a regular Sofitel’ it’s a “Legend” brand, the name reflects the perfect blending of history with modern day luxury. The staff are always immaculately turned out and exude warmth, combined with a genuine desire to make your stay as near perfect as possible.
As our return was over the incredibly busy Christmas and New Year period, I was keen to get all the best restaurants booked in advance. Jeremy our butler made some excellent suggestions and had everything sewn up and an itinerary awaiting our arrival.
The main dining area is so charismatic, underneath grand palm trees within the grounds of the old convent. As for the breakfast – wow! the tropical fruit buffet and range of pastries needs to be photographed to be believed. Louis and Leonardo exceeded in adding so many personal touches.
Fabulous pool area. There are many luxury boutique hotels in Cartagena but it’s rare to come across such a fabulous large pool and terrace. As soon as you arrive you’re greeted and escorted to the perfect position. Special mention to José and Oscar who always managed to ensure I was in the shade and my husband in the sun, returning regularly to adjust the umbrella. Then Captain Yhordys Franco and his team take over, they’re immediately on hand with the menu, cold towels, fruit skewers etc and always remembering your previous preferences. Just love their Mimosas!
Summing up the experience - after the first/second stay you feel like you’ve left as a friend but after the third/fourth you most definitely leave as ‘family’. Can’t wait to go back next year
We arrived from the Sofitel Barú (amazing in every way) sadly it was pouring with rain for our 2 days here. Our room room had a musky smell. it was a ground floor accessible room - unsure why we were allocated this so you had to bend down to turn the shower on and the shower design is poor - water escapes into the bathroom so we had to use towels to stop the water. The bed was comfortable, room was spacious, air con worked well. We had a small terrace looking out to some plants and a walkway..
Breakfast was buffet style and had a decent variety of warm and cold stuff.
The pool and pool area is lovely, the bar is really nice and has lovely staff.
Some of the staff such as the pool staff and reception staff were very professional and friendly. The doormen in particular were not so… maybe the rain made them grumpy..

We have enjoyed many wonderful cocktails and great music at our hotel bar. The service is very attentive. Julian has been delightful to talk with and has been an excellent source for drink options.
