Wow! From the moment we checked in until the moment we checked out, our 4 days/nights at the Sofitel Legend Santa Clara was magnificent. Located within the Walled City, the hotel and the surrounding areas felt safe every day and night. Every staff member went out of their way to ensure that we were happy and comfortable. Every morning at breakfast we were greeted with smiles and coffee-thank you to Jesus Mira, Alaidis, and all the other Jardin breakfast staff. Our afternoons at the pool were very relaxing. Carlos, and all the other pool staff made sure we were comfortable and well fed! The grilled chicken lunch was scrumptious! On our final night, we ate dinner at Jardin. Luis Carlos had previously described the aged picanha to us so we had to try it. That steak and the legendary lomo al trapo were both delicious. Thank you to Luis Carlos, Leonardo, and Luis for making our last evening extra special. We’d also like to thank all the men and women at the spa for creating such a warm and relaxing experience for us. From the moment we made our appointments to the end of our spa visit, every detail was made perfect. Our therapists, Saydi and Ilena, provided perfect massages. Our stay was also enhanced by the expert attentiveness of the butler services. Any time we reached out for anything, Jeremy, Luis, Rudy, & Alejandro, made sure our questions and requests were answered. We’d also like to thank housekeeping for their daily and nightly services-especially Ana Karina, who left us a very nice note at the end of our stay. Today, upon departure, thank you to Pedro for assuring we got into our uber safely for our ride to the airport. All in all, the sparkling hotel grounds and amenities were top notch, our room and view were beautiful, and the pool/roof top bar were inviting. We loved our nightly sunsets! Overall, EVERYONE who works at the Sofitel Legend Santa Clara did an amazing job at ensuring we had a magical stay! Thank you!
We had a wonderful experience dining at 1621 with our waiter Jose. The food was a great experience, taking our palettes through fine tasting that we will always remember!

From even before we arrived, they were attentive to our questions and needs, promptly guiding us in how to best spend our time in the beautiful city. While we are at the hotel, we were treated with warm hospitality every moment, allowing us to enjoy a truly comfortable and luxurious stay. Our children especially had an amazing time, and we will be sure to return next time we visit Colombia.

A genuinely magical experience.
The hotel itself is visually stunning. A tranquil and rejuvenating environment. But the magic of this place lies in the staff, truly exceptional service and truly exceptional people. They made me feel so welcome and like I was coming home to family each time I walked into the building. The butler team: Alejandro, Jeremy, Rudy and Luis were just phenomenal. I felt so well taken care of and I have made a promise to myself that I will visit Cartagena and stay at the hotel every year.

Do not waste your hard-earned money booking Sofitel Legend Santa Clara Cartagena or using Expedia.
We booked what was supposed to be a special anniversary trip in May for an August stay. Unfortunately, due to completely unforeseen circumstances beyond our control, we had to cancel our plans in June—a full two months in advance of our arrival date.
Despite giving them 60 days' notice, Expedia canceled our booking but completely refused to refund our money. Santa Clara Hotel was equally unhelpful and uncompromising, stubbornly refusing to issue a refund or work with us. Between Expedia and Santa Clara Cartagena, we lost over $3,000 of our vacation savings.
Refusing to return over $3,000 for a cancellation made two full months in advance feels like nothing short of extortion. They kept thousands of dollars for a service they never provided, leaving us with zero flexibility or empathy during an already difficult situation.
Save yourself the stress, heartbreak, and financial loss: Do not book Sofitel Legend Santa Clara Cartagena, and do not use Expedia. They will happily keep your money and offer zero customer support when life happens. Look elsewhere in Cartagena for a hotel that actually values its guests.
