They have the slowest lifts on the planet but it provided more giggles than stress.

Really lovely hotel with super friendly staff they even checked us in early which was a huge bonus. The room was spotless and the bed was incredibly comfortable. The location is very central which was perfect. The only reason for 4 stars is that the room felt a little dark; there were plenty of lamps but no central light, so it could feel a bit dim at times.

Very noisey from street / all night. Property did not have a reception area to sit down which is weird. Reception staff not overly friendly hence cold atmosphere. I like to sit in a hotel lobby rather than my room. Restaurant closed due to renovations. No fresh water given.

We stayed at Die Port van Cleve during a recent trip to Amsterdam and found some positives, but also a few issues that affected our overall experience.
On the plus side, the rooms themselves were comfortable and clean, and the welcome on arrival was genuinely friendly. The hotel is well located and has a lot of character, which initially gave a good first impression.
However, there were some significant drawbacks. The walls are extremely thin, meaning we could clearly hear neighbouring rooms. More concerning was the noise of rats scratching and squeaking in the walls at night, which was quite disturbing. It appeared that the hotel was already aware of this issue, but we weren’t offered any reassurance or explanation, which was disappointing.
Temperature control was another problem. There is no air conditioning, and the heating was very hot with limited ability to regulate it. One member of our party was also placed in an internal room with no window, which made the room feel especially uncomfortable. Given the price we paid, I would have expected at least air conditioning or better climate control.
Overall, while the hotel has potential and could be a pleasant place to stay, these issues really detracted from the experience. I probably wouldn’t choose to stay here again unless the problems with pests and temperature control were addressed. If those issues were resolved, it could be a much more enjoyable stay.
