Thermal Pjamas needed.
Pros:

Location

Cons:

The room heating was terrible. I should have took notice of the many complaints about this by other guests , but ce la vie.
Hotel in a great location, but I won’t be staying here again until I see a notice the heating has been upgraded.

Don’t expect a comfortable bed!
Pros:

I didn’t enjoy my stay at all.

Cons:

Landed at the hotel just before 9pm, having booked only 13 hours earlier before starting an 11-hour journey from Ireland (boat and 574 miles of driving). I had specifically requested a cot in one of our two rooms for my child.

On arrival, the hotel was hosting a private event with extremely loud music—so loud the car park was vibrating. The lobby was chaotic, making check-in unnecessarily stressful after such a long journey.

Despite the advance booking and clear request, no cot had been prepared in the room. Our 21-month-old, who should have been transferred straight to bed, had to be woken and kept waiting. We were told reception would sort it, but after 30 minutes with no update, we had to call to chase it. The cot eventually arrived 45 minutes after we entered the room—far too late for a tired child who normally sleeps at 8pm. This is a basic request that should have been handled well in advance.

The mattress was unacceptable for any hotel, let alone one claiming a four-star standard. Every movement caused loud spring noises, making it the worst bed I’ve experienced despite having stayed in hundreds of accommodations across 30+ countries.

Charging guests for parking also felt unreasonable. While I understand the need to manage long-term parking, there are better ways to do this than charging all overnight guests indiscriminately.

Given the poor quality of the room, I chose to skip breakfast entirely as I had little confidence in the overall standard.

I genuinely question how this hotel has achieved a four-star rating. In my experience, it is a basic three-star property at best. Based on this stay, I would avoid this hotel and would seriously reconsider staying at DoubleTree by Hilton in the future.
