Traumhafte Unterkunft mit ganz viel Charme
Pros:

Altehrwürdiges (für US-Verhältnisse) Haus in ausgezeichneter Lage direkt am Ocean Drive, gänzlich stilvoll, es verbreitet perfekte Urlaubsstimmung. Wir hatten ein Familienzimmer mit seitlichem Meerblick, das von der Größe her ok war, und mit allem ausgestattet war, was man so brauchte und modern eingerichtet war. U.a. gibt es Strandstühle im Zimmer und Strandtücher an der Rezeption.
Besonders hervorheben muss man die Sauberkeit und die Freundlichkeit des Personals.
Wir haben täglich auf der Terrasse gefrühstückt, dabei zahlen Hotelgäste einen Spezialpreis von 15 Dollar für 1 Tellergericht (sehr schmackhaft und schön angerichtet), Kaffee und Wasser, inkl. Tip.

Cons:

Die lauten Klimaanlagen der Nebenzimmer störten bisweilen beim Schlafen - von der Straße hatten wir allerdings keinen Lärm zu verzeichnen. Manche Dinge im charmanten Zimmer 318 funktionierten nicht so einwandfrei (Badezimmertür klemmte, Fenstermechanik ließ sich nicht schließen, Duscharmatur müsste befestigt werden) - aber all das hat unseren Urlaub nicht negativ beeinflusst - auch, weil wir mit 200€ pro Nacht für 4 Personen einen noch vergleichsweise niedrigen Preis gezahlt haben. Wir würden jederzeit wieder hier übernachten.

Die Lage ist top. Das Personal unfassbar nett. Für unsere 2 Tage war es perfekt und wir würden es wieder buchen.
Das Frühstück ist absolut empfehlenswert.

Cons:

Man konnte nichts verräumen, da es keinen Stauraum für Kleidung etc. gab.

Nice hotel - for South Beach
Pros:

The hotel is super cute. It’s historic and family owned. My bed was super comfortable and I liked the black out shades. Avalon is well located and seems like one of the best hotels in South Beach. I didn’t eat there but heard the food was good and they had a nice outdoor dining scene.

Cons:

I had a very nice spacious sunny room (#323). Unfortunately it was on an alley with raucous rude shouting people and very loud garbage trucks. The mid century desk was beat up. They should show it some love and touch up the stain that wore off. Sadly, the South Beach area isn’t what it used to be.
