Pros:

Location, staff and value for money. We found our accommodation very comfortable and conveniently located to town. We had parking included as we had a hire car. We found a great coffee shop right across the road The Big Island Roasters if you are from Australia you will know what I mean if you decide to grab a cuppa 😉

Very good location, communal spaces
Pros:

The hotel is located at a very nice location near to Reeds Bay Beach Park (a small beach you can swim in) and Liliʻuokalani Gardens. There are quite a few restaurants within walking distance. The hotel has quite many communal spaces as well as a board game area and gym.

Cons:

The ceiling fan randomly turned on at night (I think this happens when power is restored after a momentary power cut). The restaurant attached to the hotel wasn't great (but there are many other good restaurants around).

Nice stay in a place close to restaurants, parks, caves and waterfalls.
Pros:

The hotel is nice and wellcoming. The facilities are great : large swimming pool, exercice room, common room, etc.. The sea and the airport are next door. The beds were comfortable, the decoration of the bedroom was basic.

Cons:

The bedroom is not very wellcoming, even if the beds are comfortable and the room and bathroom are clean.

Bring back in-room coffee makers and glassware.
Pros:

The staff was excellent and the common areas were very attractive. We paid for a Koi Pond view and it was lovely.

Cons:

Although the room was attractive it was small and lacked such amenities as a tooth brushing glass and a coffee maker. Our mini fridge was barely cool. It isn’t anyone’s fault but the airport is very nearby and jets start taking off about 6:30 AM.

Pros:

This is a hostel masquerading as a luxury hotel. No elevator despite it being 3 stories. Located at the end of the Hilo airport runway so your 6 am wake-up is via a jet about 60' above the hotel. Doors don't fit in their frames, glass falling out of the window, no safe or coffeemaker in the room. Yet they charge $300 per night. The only reason I gave them 2 stars was because the employees were lovely. Here's a hint - if you have an experience similar to ours they will renegotiate your rate as you check out a couple days early.

Why hasn’t someone thought of this concept before now?
Pros:

Great location, extremely friendly atmosphere, very creative repurposing of building materials and used hotel furniture. Clean rooms, comfy beds. Staff are fully willing to accommodate guests requests and needs. Lovely pool area, along with various meet up areas off the lobby. What a clever idea someone had! We would stay here again and again!

Boutique Hotel in Hilo
Pros:

This is a boutique hotel. The staff were very friendly. The property is very well maintained. The common areas like lobby, gardens and pool are all nice and peaceful. The room is only average. It does have a fridge. The hotel has a nice pool area but does not have a Hot Tub or Spa which is a miss. The gym is pretty limited with 2 bikes, a bench, dumbbells up to 35lb and a TRX system. Good for getting moving but not a big lift session. There is a place to shower in the bathroom by the gym. The hotel has self serve laundry, morning coffee and a small shop. The hotel is close to town and restaurants while at the same time in a more serene setting across from a pretty waterfront. I would recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a simple place to rest after adventures if you don’t mind the lack of resort amenities.

Very pleasant stay.

The location provided access to walking. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They made decaf coffee for us every day.

Cons:

We were unhappy with the television service. Hotel provided streaming only. Wanted to access local channels and major networks.
