After we checked in, the front desk informed us that both the hot and cold water were not working from 11-4 that day and the next day. I asked for a discount and they said they could give us free passes for the waterpark the next day. No other discount or compensation was offered. The hot water was not turned back on until after 6pm and it took until after 7 before the hot water reached our room. The next day we had to ask repeatedly to get the free waterpark passes. The room itself was clean and comfortable however the window by the bunk bed was dripping water from the snow outside.
Only three elevators were working and at times, the wait for them was over 20 minutes.
The novelty of the rooms and proximity to the Mall is really the only good thing. Otherwise it is fantastically overpriced. At $500 plus a night, one should be able to shower and use the toilet.
elevators are terrible, rooms are outdated, was not made aware of roof construction that was happening directly out of my room, woke the baby in the morning at 7am.
The good- fairly clean room, conveniently located to the mall, breakfast add on was good value, staff friendly and efficient.
The bad- booked a jacuzzi room, how ever a scheduled water shut off for the entire day occurred, that information would have been good to know when booking. I would definitely have booked a regular room with that information.
The ugly - maintenance on the water park roof took place starting around 7 am. Very loud and smelly omissions from the machinery. The room we stayed in was directly adjacent to the construction.
Noting I should have read the prior reviews as there a most definitely themes around water noise and cleanliness. The responder -?sp Pavan frequently responds with apologies and wishes to address the problems. The theme there appears to be lip service!
We enjoyed our stay with family and friends and the whole mall kept us busy for a few days. I would definitely book the Fantasyland Hotel again, maybe with better planning to make sure we booked more events. Thank you very much.
I stay here often and I love that everything I want to do and need is located near me. No need to drive anywhere.
We enjoyed our stay. Very convenient to be able to stay in the same space as meetings, shopping, attractions, and restaurants.
We really enjoyed our time at Fantasy land hotel. The kids lived the space room. The room service was also great.
Our trip to Fantasyland Hotel was excellent. The theme room was so fun for our 5-year-old and being able to easily access all of the attractions at West Edmonton Mall was so convenient.
Elevator was slow and we were not reminded of our purchased breakfast in the morning so we didn't go eat it
I live in Calgary and my best friend lives in Grande Prairie. We met halfway for a girls weekend. We didn’t have to leave the mall for 2 days. Staff were friendly, executive room was perfect and surprisingly quiet for how busy the hotel was!
For 350 a night, the rooms need to be updated and extra amenities needed to be included small things like hair dryers, etc. I would not stay in that hotel unless I was going to the waterpark or the park it is handy as it is it right in the mall and a five minute walk from both.
I would stay elsewhere. When we brought up any issues the staff were super rude. The renovated rooms are okay, but the old rooms and theme rooms are super run down. Also had someone above us sliding around their furniture all night.
The room was very dated. The room also had a very bad smell in it was not impressed with the room for the money we have paid. There were dirty glasses left from previous guest's. The toilets started acting up in the middle of the night with a strange foam and gaining water/chemical. $500 a night for this room is wild. I’ve stayed at cleaner and more comfortable Motels
Cool room, price is insane. Only stayed because I could use my More rewards points to pay for it. Would be nice if you could access more then 2 theme rooms when booking through Expedia, which you have to do to use more rewards points.
Rooms were very clean. We stayed in the Polynesian with the hot tub and it was pretty cool! this was a quick family trip and I highly recommend staying
Great hotel. So nice to walk around the mall and not have to worry about wearing a jacket. Great to be able to go back to the room to drop off your purchases too.
Booked an igloo theme room while visiting from the UK. The room in general was quite tired and could do with a refresh. One of the cupboard doors didn’t fit on and the jacuzzi was quite noisy, not relaxing.
no AC in rooms waiting upwards 20 minutes to get into elevators which are full with people who are sick and hacking with colds. not enough electrical outlets in room. had to unplug lanmps to charge our phones computer. internet sometimes worked very slow. TV system very old you get french channels mostly and some sort of cable .
The room itself was very cool , we enjoyed the space room. It was a great experience, especially for kids. We noticed areas that were so dusty, even from across the room and it looked like it was a while before the room was dusted and wiped down. The mirrors were quite dirty around tv and in the bathroom.I don’t think it was worth almost $500 a night for that reason. Customer service was also non existent at the desk. She told me room number and that was it.
The convenience of being able to stay at the fantasyland hotel is a great advantage when visiting West Edmonton Mall. Interesting to see all the different stores and eating opportunities. We went to the Jubilation Theatre and saw a very good show. Nice to be able to walk back to the hotel without going outside.
