Rooms location.

Small room and ensuite but I expected that and I fitted fine.
Good basic hotel in Copenhagen.
First room initially had an unpleasant smell but we were able to upgrade.
Location and spa
One of the staff was exceptionally RUDE and aggressive towards me. I have stayed at The Wesley Boutique Hotel numerous times since 2010 and, until this visit, considered it one of my favourite places to stay in Johannesburg. Sadly, after sixteen years of loyalty, this will be my final stay.
I booked the Presidential Suite for four nights during Johannesburg’s recent cold spell when temperatures dropped to around 6°C. From the first night, it became apparent that the room heating was not working properly. Given the size of the suite, this was not a minor inconvenience. The room was freezing.
I reported the issue immediately. The initial response was to provide an extra blanket. When that failed to resolve the problem, I reported it again the following day. A second member of staff was genuinely helpful and attempted to investigate the air conditioning and heating controls. However, no engineer was called and no meaningful repair was undertaken.
Instead, I was eventually provided with a small portable heater that was wholly inadequate for such a large suite. After four days of sleeping in a cold room, I developed a persistent cough, lost my voice and experienced an asthma flare-up. As someone with a respiratory condition, this was extremely concerning.
What made the situation more frustrating was that I was ultimately moved to a smaller room towards the end of my stay. This demonstrated that alternative accommodation was available. Had this happened on the first night, much of the discomfort and illness could have been avoided. Despite paying for the Presidential Suite, no compensation or adjustment was offered.
The customer service was equally disappointing. One receptionist repeatedly questioned why I had booked such a large room for myself, which I found unnecessary and inappropriate. During my stay, friends and family visited me briefly, as is normal in any hotel. I was made to feel as though I was doing something wrong despite being a paying guest.
