Very hard beds
We paid for 3 people but they only had 2 single beds. They carried a folding mattress, which was extremely thin, into the room for our third person.
There is no kettle.
We strongly considered moving to a new hotel for the rest of our stay in Prague
We stayed at Hotel Union in Prague from May 11–17, 2025 as part of an Erasmus+ school program with 10 underage students (11 years old) and 3 teachers.
The reservation had been made in January and included a clear written request for 3 student rooms and 3 single rooms for the teachers — all on the same floor, due to child protection and supervision regulations.
When we arrived, we were told the rooms were split across multiple floors. For two nights, the teacher rooms went unused, and teachers had to sleep in student rooms to ensure proper supervision.
To make matters worse, on the first morning we were informed that breakfast (prepaid 856 euro and part of our agreement) cannot be offered without any prior warning or arrangement. Our students had to attend school activities without eating.
As of today, no refund has been issued, and the hotel manager has never answered our calls or mails. We have filed official reports with the Prague Police and the Czech Trade Inspection Authority (ČOI), and are escalating the matter through the European Consumer Centre.
This experience caused serious disruption to a school program and placed both staff and minors in an unacceptable situation. Please take this into account when considering your booking.
No issues throughout our stay. Tram line right outside with regular transport links to the centre. Not in a very busy area, but nice cafes/breakfast spots open. Beds were a little solid for my liking, but personal preference! Coffee machine was equipped daily, and towels could be restocked as you wished. Very clean and spacious room. Modern bathroom. Did not engage with staff often, but receptionist friendly on arrival and they kindly stored our cases for us after checkout in a secure area. Perfect for those needing a basic but reliable hotel close to the centre of Prague!
Good hotel with a restaurant and professional staff
I stayed at Union Hotel for 7 nights, and it was without a doubt the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. I cannot comprehend how this hotel is rated as 4 stars because it doesn’t meet even the most basic standards.
Room Issues:
From the start, we were given the wrong room, which had a dirty bathroom. After complaining, we were shown an even worse room before being moved to a slightly better one. However, the issues didn’t end there. The carpet in the room was never vacuumed during our entire stay, and the bathroom wall had dried residue from a previous guest’s toothbrush—evidence that it hadn’t been properly cleaned in months.
Amenities:
The Wi-Fi didn’t work at all, the TV was broken, and worst of all, the heating didn’t function. We spent the entire week freezing and ended up catching colds because of the unbearable conditions. When we spoke to the manager, they admitted that the heating was a problem throughout the hotel, but nothing was done to address it.
Cleaning Services:
The cleaning service was abysmal. They took our dirty coffee glasses but replaced them with new ones that were also dirty! Towels and sheets were often not replaced, and we had to keep asking for basic necessities like toilet paper. Only after contacting the booking platform did a housekeeper clean the room properly, but this happened just once in 7 days.
Special Requests:
I requested Prosecco and flowers for my friend’s birthday on December 2nd, and the staff assured me they would arrange it. Not only did they forget, but when I contacted the booking platform, they eventually delivered wine to the room—on December 6th, four days late.
Conclusion:
Union Hotel failed on every level. From unclean rooms and poorly maintained facilities to unprofessional service and complete disregard for guest comfort, this experience was a nightmare. I strongly recommend avoiding this hotel. It was a colossal disappointment and far from the relaxing vacation we had hoped for.
Lovely hotel with nice spacious room. Very clean bathroom also. Staff were friendly and held our bags for us even after we had checked out! Right next to a tram stop which is ideal for sightseeing, can also walk in to the city (25 mins) The sauna advertised is actually part of a spa package and separate to the hotel which we found out when we arrived.
This hotel is within reach to everything. Price is on the budget. Ideal location with big rooms suited for your one to two days travel in Prague. The only bad thing is the water is sometimes out of order especially if you’re in the 5th floor. Don’t forget to try the massage underneath this hotel - the best one in the area. There’s a good restaurant besides the hotel. Staffs are helpful! You just need to pay 4 euro for city tax and no deposit of whatever!
The hotel has a good location opposite the tram stops and not far from the metro stop Vysehrad. Nevertheless it turns into disadvantage during the night because of noise from both trams and trains.
Breakfast is not included and there is no option to add it to the booking. (Though there is a café downstairs in the building, that offers coffee with croissant with something else for apprx. 200 czk).
Electric kettle wasnt in the room, despite the fact, that it was listed in the description of room equipment.
TV in our room didn´t work during our stay (2 nights). We immediately made a complain at the reception, nevertheless the problem wasn´t solved during our stay for some technical problems. Wifi had bad quality.
Cleanless was OK.
I cancelled my booking for total lack of communication. Impossible to call the reception. The only tool available is "casova schranka" a voice box that greets only in Czech and doesn't indicate the name of the hotel. If you leave a message regardless, no one answers it. Emails are ignored two times and answered the third time with total misunderstanding of the issue.
Sødt personale men madrasserne kunne godt trænge til en udskiftning men bestemt et ophold værd og i den tilhørende restaurant laver de fin mad til fornuftige priser.
Sødt personale men mega dårlige senge men bestemt et ophold vejr
clean and quite environment
Unterkunft Personal ok, Unterkunft hat ein Abwasserproblem es riecht überall eher unangenehm aus den Abwasserabläufen,
Fenster sind schalldicht im Herbst war es kein Problem,
This property is located just 6 tram stops and a 5 minute walk from The Olr Town Square. The area is a lot quieter than in and around the square but still has bars, cafes and takeaways within walking distance.
The rooms were clean, with cleaners coming in each day. The bathroom was a bit on the small side but for showering and brushing your teeth how much room do you need.
For those wishing to avoid the late night noises of a very busy city centre this is an ideal choice, and less than 30 minutes from the airport via taxi/uber/bolt.
After reading some of the reviews, we were a bit worried about this hotel. However, after staying there, we were very relieved to find that some of them are obviously fake (there are no bugs, mould or spiders. free breakfast has never been on offer either, so the couple complaining that they didn't get it are scamming) It's a traditional, early 1900s building, very comfortable accommodation, our room slept 3, with plenty of space. Staff were lovely, very pleasant, friendly attitude and helpful with all our queries. The attached, independently run restaurant has erratic opening hours but well worth a visit, the food is gorgeous! The only criticism I have is that there was no tea/coffee making facilties in the rooms, it's in the foyer.
Booked because this was meant to be a 4 star hotel, if that's what your expecting then you will be disappointed. The staff where lovely, the building itself, even being a little dated, is nice enough.
We were given our room and on initial look it looked fine. We where in room 202. Unfortunately the mattresses were almost non existent, they where that worn it was like sleeping on the bed slats.
The shower is a nightmare, I'm not large and I struggle to not hit the shower handle which either scalded you or froze you. Even jist trying to wash your hair. The shower door did not close properly so you ended up flooding the bathroom.
On the night the silverfish come out to say hi! Especially in the loo.
There was stains over the carpet and rubbish left in the bathroom.
Basically, if the mattresses were semi decent I wouldn't mind so much. We only used the hotel to sleep and even that was poor.
It's a shame as it did win an award back in 2014. Give your hotel some love as it has so much potential.
Clean the rooms near the window /bed there's loads of what looks like sawdust against the wall.
I didn't make a complaint as we had already been moved once as initially we where given a twin room which we had asked for a double.
Hotel said we weren't booked until the following day - got sorted finally.
Safe and air con not working. Building work outside hotel. Paid for breakfast but not provided - we went to Lidl for coffee and a sandwich. The restaurant/bar is a separate business (according to hotel staff) I would not recommend this hotel.
This is a very good cheap option for staying in Prague. If you're there for the city centre, there is a door to door tram service which takes about 20 minutes to the centre. If you are there for the Congress Centre, it's ten minutes' walk away. The hotel was clean, my room was very spacious and fresh, and the staff were helpful. The hotel does not offer any catering, and the only downside is that the bar/restaurant which shares the site and is supposed to function as the breakfast and dining option, keeps erratic opening hours. It is great when it is open, but do not rely on it being open at the advertised hours. There is a fridge in the rooms and a Lidl five minutes away, so nobody needs to starve.
Bom custo beneficio.
Nice hotel with good connections to the centre of Prague. Unfortunately there were construction works outside the hotel during our stay, which lead to some unconvinience. Besides that me and my friend are satisfied and would recommend the hotel to our friends and relatives :)
