Father and son golf trip
Pros:

Don't go to relax. Several pools with kids and families screaming. Two golf courses. South course not any better than public courses in Orange County, CA. Valet staff friendly and helpful but parking situation is ridiculous. Daily self-park was $45, valet $75 but guest only charged $60. Property buildings and rooms so spread out that shuttle is used to get one back to clubhouse and main building. Rooms are nothing special and just normal hotel size. Way overpriced. Only gets a 2 star because north course was great.

Blah blah blah
Pros:

Pulling in the property is impressive. Check in staff - amazing. Room - spacious. From there on, forget about it. Arriving at 2, hungry, there wasn’t anywhere to get a sit down meal for hours. Even the bar had an hour long waitlist. The young man taking names couldn’t be bothered to speak to us until we asked him several times what the procedure was for getting a table.
The Marketplace offered to go food but without access to our room we were forced to eat on a bench in the sun. Once our room was ready, other than a desk chair, there was nowhere to relax unless I wanted to lay on the bed, which I didn’t at 3:30pm. The tiny patio had 2 chairs but NO SHADE.
Fortunately we didn’t have to stay on property for dinner.
Next morning I gave up on trying to get a table for breakfast since I’d been trying for 24 hours in advance and we ordered room service. My Bloody Mary was supposed to have bacon, onions, olives, cornichons, and shrimp. I received 2 olives, no spice, and something blander than an airplane Bloody Mary. The rest was fine but served in to go containers without even a cup for the OJ.
The room itself, while roomy with a huge bathtub, offered a view of the laundry carts.

Damp bedding & carpets! Watch out for resort staff driving golf carts!
Pros:

I stayed here in early August 2026 for a business meeting. I found my room to have noticeably damp carpets and bedding, which led to some of the worst sleep of my life. Imagine trying to sleep with wet sheets! Also, I found the resort staff driving golf carts to be less than courteous to guests most of the time, rarely slowing down or yielding to you when encountering them on resort property which happened every time I tried to walk from one building to another. Moving off the sidewalk and out to the road to avoid them only led to my almost getting hit by guests who speed excessively through the resort property in their personal vehicles. Nobody seems to monitor or abide by a speed limit here. I would never pay to stay here using my own money.

Go and stay at the Omni San Diego instead!
Pros:

We have always been big fans of Omni Hotels, which made this stay especially disappointing.

From the moment we arrived, check-in was chaotic and poorly managed.

We visited the family pool area and used the restrooms before changing. They were absolutely disgusting, with feces on both the floor and the walls. I reported it to a member of staff, but they seemed completely uninterested and showed no sense of urgency.

We left the family pool and went to the smaller hot tub near our room. There was a used condom lying in the area, and shockingly, it was still there three days later. That level of cleanliness and attention to detail is simply unacceptable.

The room itself had an unpleasant smell and is clearly in need of refurbishment. Throughout our stay, the staff were generally unhelpful, and the valet service was disorganized and chaotic.

Unfortunately, this experience fell far below the standards we’ve come to expect from Omni. We would not return to this property and cannot recommend it based on our experience.

Overpriced for what you get.
Pros:

I stayed here for a wedding. It was not at this resort, but the wedding party stayed here. It started with an hour and 15 minute late check in that caused us to be late for the first wedding event. Then we got to our room and it was smelly, the fan was broken and extremely lout (connected to the light, so we couldn't use the bathroom light. Then we got upgraded and the room they moved us to had dirty towels on the floor, and the garbages weren't emptied. It seems like a very nice resort, the pool areas were nice, but given our room experience I will not be staying at an Omni resort by choice.

Did not exceed expectations for the price
Pros:

I chose Omni La Costa for a special girls' trip because of its reputation as a luxury resort, and I was genuinely excited for what I expected would be a relaxing, high-end experience. While every staff member we interacted with was professional, courteous, and attentive, our spa experience and the handling of our billing ultimately fell far below the standard I expected from a resort of this caliber.

Our experience began with my massage appointment being rescheduled due to a personal matter involving my original massage therapist. While I completely understood that unexpected situations happen and was happy to be flexible, the change meant my two girlfriends and I could no longer enjoy our spa day together as planned since their appointments remained the same. For a girls' getaway, that was disappointing in itself.

Unfortunately, the massage itself was equally disappointing. One of my friends and I had the same massage therapist, despite booking two different massage services. Although he asked about our areas of concern beforehand, he performed what felt like virtually the exact same massage on both of us, with very little attention to the individualized services we had specifically selected and paid for. The technique felt mechanical, repetitive, and rushed rather than personalized, intuitive, or therapeutic. Even after requesting adjustments during the service, the massage still did not improve. Honestly, I left feeling like I could have received the same experience from my at-home shiatsu massager or a neighborhood strip mall massage, not from a luxury destination spa charging premium prices.

We shared our concerns with the spa staff immediately after our treatments. While they listened respectfully, the only resolution offered was complimentary access to the spa amenities during a future visit. Unfortunately, that was not a meaningful solution. After such a disappointing experience, there is no guarantee we will return, making the offer feel more like a future sales incentive than a genuine effort to make things right for the services we had already paid for.

The frustration continued during checkout. When we booked our appointments, we specifically confirmed that each member of our group would pay individually for her own services. However, on the day of checkout, we were told the spa charges had instead been transferred to my room folio and that the hotel front desk could split the charges.

When I went to the front desk, they were unable to locate the spa balance and instructed me to return to the spa to obtain documentation. After making another trip back to the spa and returning with a receipt, I was then told everything appeared settled and that no balance remained because my card had already been charged. At that point, believing everything had finally been resolved, I completed checkout and continued my vacation elsewhere.

Later, I received an email stating there was still an outstanding spa balance. Rather than having the charges divided among the three of us as originally requested and confirmed, the entire balance was charged to my card. This created a confusing series of duplicate and overlapping charges, leaving me to sort through billing issues while I was traveling. To make matters worse, I have still not been fully reimbursed for the overcharges.

What is most disappointing is that this was supposed to be a stress-free getaway, yet I spent a significant portion of it dealing with scheduling changes, an underwhelming spa service, multiple trips between the spa and front desk, confusing billing, and ongoing follow-up regarding incorrect charges. For a resort that positions itself as a luxury destination, I expected a much higher level of service, communication, and accountability.

While I appreciate the professionalism and kindness of the staff we encountered, the overall experience did not reflect the premium experience we paid for. Given the combination of the disappointing spa treatment, the disruption to our planned experience, the billing errors, the time spent resolving issues during and after our stay, and the inconvenience of continuing to address unresolved charges, I do not feel the complimentary future spa access offered is an adequate resolution.

I hope Omni La Costa will reconsider a more appropriate form of compensation that reflects the significant inconvenience and the fact that the services delivered did not meet the standard reasonably expected of a luxury resort. At this time, I cannot say I would return or recommend the spa experience to others.

Disappointed!!!
Pros:

We chose LaCosta Resort from our previous trip 20 years ago and were sadly disappointed. Grounds are beautiful & well keep. However the rooms are badly in need of updating. The accommodations certainly did live up to a 5 Star Hotel rating.
Great place to take family. Lots of activities for kids. Food was good. Golf & Tennis were excellent. But the overall property (i.e. rooms) must improve for us to return.

Very poor staff quality
Pros:

This is a just ok hotel that is priced like a luxury hotel. Staff has a culture of unhelpfulness and is not concerned about your stay. Almost every single experience had something wrong with it. Some were minor and overlooked, but there were no apologies, even for the big things

Hotel and Room Great. Service Non-Existent
Pros:

Room and hotel grounds are beautiful but that's where it ends. I give the service was a complete "F" grade. There was no one there to want to help. No one there to get me an umbrella by the pool, an extra towel or even help find two seats together as the pool was crowded. Any other comparable hotel this sort of thing would be standard but it was completely non-existent here. I ordered room service for breakfast. The presentation was worse than going to McDonalds except we were paying 5 star hotel prices. The service was just bad. My son wanted to do s'mores and when I went to the bar restaurant and asked they said I had to reserve this from a day before. I have never heard such a thing from a hotel that is supposed to be 5 star. To sum it up the grounds and room is beautiful but the way its run is beyond armature and completely ruined the stay experience to the point where I would never go back again.

5 Star Staycation 27 miles Away!
Pros:

I just returned home from a fabulous (yet again!) 5 Star experience at the Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, California! This is the 4th or 5th annual 2 night staycation for my sister and me to treat our daughters. From the moment you drive onto the resort grounds, you are treated as though you are someone VERY special! From the Valet, to the porters (special shout-out to David), to the Concierge Katherine, to Tammy, the server in the Vue, to Sam and Trent at Bob's, to the entire Spa staff, everything was over the top! (Special thanks to Jessica C in the Spa for the BEST treatment I have EVER received!)

Luxurious resort
Pros:

A very luxurious resort with excellent amenities and facilities. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Parking isn't great for such a vast property. Depending on your location, you have a 10-15 minute walk to the family pool area with no nearby parking lot, only valet.

Luxury and Beauty
Pros:

I still think about our experience at Omni La Costa and can’t wait to book our next trip. What a beautiful property with so much beauty and gorgeous landscape. The kids had a blast in what felt like a private pool as there are many on the property plus the water slides added for extra fun. The steakhouse on property was a memorable dinner we still reminisce on to this day. Highly recommend 10/10.

Missed the mark
Pros:

We stayed here for three nights and expected a better experience given the price you pay for this resort. The rooms were mediocre and outdated. We had to request new sheets TWICE in our three-night stay because there were strains, and they didn't even change them for us; just left the sheets on the bed. There were old stains on the carpet in the room and you could just tell things were not cleaned well. The bathroom needed a deep clean; there was mildew on the ceiling above the shower and in the corners of the shower tub. It was kind of gross for being such a reputable resort. The highlight was the kids pool, but even then the lifeguards were busy chatting and on their phones instead of watching kids in the pool. There was bird poop on every lounge chair and clumps of hair near the drains and it was just gross. We've been to several high end resorts and they've figured out how to keep the birds away and how to clean up the walkways at the pool area. Lastly, lots of poor training when it comes to hospitality. Servers were great, but hostesses need some major training on how to greet guests and say bye when they leave. Just small things that made the experience feel bland. This resort has so much potential to be a 5-star resort with the location and views, but it really missed the mark.

Amazing and Kind Staff
Pros:

The service at this resort goes beyond my standards. From checking in, Andrew, Justin, Edz, and Ariana were incredible in assisting me. Catherine, the resort concierge, was very welcoming as soon as we entered the lobby. The suite was very clean, and I was very satisfied with it. The valet team was always incredibly helpful and kind. Elsa at the Vue restaurant gave us exceptional service and is overall such a kind person. The pools were a top favorite of my niece and nephew, and they can't wait to go back. The firework show was an amazing experience as well! Overall, I couldn't have chosen a better place for a weekend getaway.

Exceptional Experience at Omni La Costa
Pros:

I recently spent a few days at Omni La Costa while conducting a site visit for a large conference we are considering bringing to the resort, and I was thoroughly impressed.

While I know the resort was putting its best foot forward, what stood out to me was the consistency of the experience. Every area of the property was beautifully maintained, and every employee I encountered was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely focused on providing outstanding service.

The food throughout our visit was excellent, from catered meals to dinner at Bob's Steak & Chop House, where we enjoyed a wonderful meal and exceptional service. I also had the opportunity to experience the spa, including a treatment, relaxing at the adults-only spa pool, and enjoying the many spa amenities. It was a true highlight of my stay. I even spent some time browsing the resort's shops, which rounded out the experience nicely.

From beautiful grounds and outstanding dining to attentive service and first-class amenities, Omni La Costa exceeded my expectations. I would highly recommend it whether you're visiting for a relaxing getaway, a spa retreat, or a conference or special event.

Luxury & Family-Friendly
Pros:

We stayed at the Omni for Father's Day weekend, and it was one of the best hotel experiences we've ever had. From the moment we arrived, every member of the staff went above and beyond to make us feel like royalty. Everyone was genuinely warm and welcoming, and even the valet team was incredibly helpful and made such a positive first impression.

The atmosphere is the perfect blend of luxury and family-friendly. It feels like a five-star resort while still being so welcoming to families with young children. That balance is rare, and the Omni does it perfectly.

The food and drinks were absolutely amazing, and every meal exceeded our expectations. We honestly never wanted to leave the property because everything was so enjoyable.

Our room was beautiful, incredibly comfortable, and the perfect place to relax after a day at the resort. Every detail of our stay made us feel taken care of.

Thank you to the entire Omni team for making our Father's Day weekend so special. We can't wait to come back!
