A disappointing and expensive stay

The hotel is in a very convenient location and was clean

Le personnel très très sympathique l’emplacement

Cons:

Ça n’a absolument pas le charme que l’on attend dans une ville, comme Amsterdam, la salle des petits déjeuners et digne d’un buffet de Gare La décoration générale de l’hôtel est extrêmement vieillotte.
La chambre est basique et je trouve que pour 500 € la nuit ça ne le mérite pas il y a tellement de jolis hôtels à Amsterdam

Excellent in every way
Pros:

What a lovely stay! Thank you.
The service was impeccable. Rooms were very well appointed. Bed was extremely comfortable. Had the pleasure of ordering some room service...arrived promptly and was delicious.
Concierge were extremely knowledgeable.
Wish we could have stayed longer.

Pros:

Lokalizacja, najlepsza z możliwych. Bardzo ekskluzywny hotel.
Spa klimatyczne, aż szkoda wychodzić. Kameralna siłownia, ale bardzo fajnie urządzona..
Śniadania bardzo dobre, choć dużo potraw na zamówienie u kelnera z karty, kosztem bufetu.

Good but a few issues have to be fixed or I am not sure many customers are returning.

This is our fifth stay at Grand Sofitel. We always come to this hotel and have a great time. However, there are a few issues that need immediate attention:
1. Shower glass is getting old and water is invariably leaking out to fill the bathtub.
2. Terrible spa facility with broken jacuzzi, water jets in pool and lack of any attendant.
3. Despite a clear sign that kids can’t come to the pool after 6 pm. The pool is often filled with kids playing and shouting and splashing which is VERY disturbing. Despite alerting the front desk staff, NOTHING was done!
4. OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive for the value you get in return.
These things have to be fixed ASAP

Absolutely not up to sofitel standards
Pros:

Beautiful building in the center of Amsterdam. Everything is within walking distance. The location is perfect.

Beyond that, it is absolutely not up to Sofitel standards. The rooms are dated, the carpets are stained, and the bathroom has only one sink made of a kind of molded plastic that feels very low quality. The fridge motor is noisy.

In addition, our room was not cleaned on January 17. It was only attended to at 6:30 p.m. after two reminders at reception—and when I say “cleaned,” only the towels were changed. The carpet was not vacuumed, the trash was not emptied, and the bed was carelessly made, without pulling the fitted sheet or fluffing the pillows.

In short, the hotel has clear management and quality control issues. No commercial gesture was offered. Not even an apology at checkout. So I would advise you to stay away. It is expensive for what it is.
