From 1 May 2016, please note that besides room rates and service charge, guests may have to pay government tax/VAT (value-added tax).

I LIKE MOSTLY THE OUTSIDE GARDEN AND THE BAR YOU HAVE THERE
ON SYNDAY 19TH APRIL AFTER I HAD BREAKFAST AT YOUR RESTAURANT I FELT STOMACH PAIN AND HAD DIARRHEA. I STOPPED EATING AND FELT TERRIBLE FOR TWO DAYS BUT WANTED TO COME BACK TO GREECE BEFORE I WENT TO A DOCTOR. NOW BACK HOME, I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH FOOD POISONING, AM ON TREATMENT WITH ANTIBIOTICS ETC. I CANNOT KNOW WHAT WAS THE CAUSE OF THE POISONING BUT YOU MUST MAKE SURE YOU CHECK THE HYGIENE OF THAT RESTAURANT.

Excellent Stay at the Shangri-la Hotel Beijing . Our recent stay at the Shangri-la Hotel Beijing affirmed our earlier stays in this same hotel as a very pleasant stay, excellent service and care for details and needs of guests. This made the difference. While the hotel is no longer as young as before, it makes up the difference by having an excellent staff, good operational management, cosy environment and away from the noisy bustle of downtown location . It's proximity to two very important sights -- The Summer Palace, and the Great Wall at Mutianyu makes the Shangri-la Hotel Beijing an excellent location.
I spent 6 nights at the Shangri-La. I have nothing but compliments for the the staff and the hotel. From the time I arrived, my experience was positive. Beautiful and spotless facility, efficient and helpful staff, excellent bar and a la carte menu options, beautiful guest room - it was a complete experience. I loved the garden. And the location was ideal for the sightseeing I did in Beijing. Everything was within about 30 minutes using the DiDi ride app.
I treated myself to Peking Duck at the Shang Palace Cantonese restaurant onsite, and that was excellent.
BTW, the breakfast buffet is excellent. I mistakenly didn't include it in my reservation, and I quickly upgraded when I realized there were no other appealing breakfast options locally.

Not many people talking english
The hotel itself was lovely if a bit dated! Staff were nice and helpful. Unfortunately the room smelt strongly of cigarettes even though it was meant to be non smoking! Internet was a problem as we couldn’t connect often and it is absolutely necessary in Beijing. Breakfast was great huge buffet choice.
