Categories

Cleanliness
7.5
Multiple guests report cleanliness problems: mold in shower, musty odor, food left in refrigerator, bugs seen in rooms, and several notes that rooms were not cleaned daily or missed cleanings.
Service
10
Consistently praised staff: called out as friendly, helpful and professional (mentions of Ms. Cookie and staff being super professional), accommodated room changes and early check-in — clear strong service sentiment.
Location
10
Repeatedly described as a great location in a nice neighborhood, walkable to transit (Red Line), beach, Wrigley and downtown attractions — location is a primary positive theme.
Room Quality
8
Rooms are frequently described as small, with awkward layouts and very small bathrooms; some guests liked specific rooms (e.g., Room 505) but overall size/layout is a recurring drawback.
Amenities
9.5
Lobby, bar, outdoor sidewalk seating and evening wine service are praised and create a strong amenities experience, though there are notes about limited food options and only one ice machine.
Value for Money
7.5
Several guests feel price is high for the offering (explicit comment about $400/night and services not matching price); mixed value due to excellent location/service but small rooms and cleanliness issues.
Food and Beverage
9.5
Bar drinks and evening wine service receive positive mentions, but dining options are limited (one reviewer noted only sushi) — overall F&B seen as a strong point with limited scope.
Overall Experience
10
Overall sentiment leans very positive driven by outstanding service and location; negatives (small rooms, occasional cleanliness issues) are noted but many guests describe the stay as great or amazing.

Great small hotel in the Gold Coast
Pros:

The location is great. Also, because it's a relatively small hotel, it doesn't feel chaotic . It also has a bar/coffee place. Locals even stopped there to get a latte etc. Also the location is great. Right near the lake, I am very close to the red line -and the neighborhood is full of restaurants etc. And not really touristy at all.

Cons:

I get why some people say the facility could use an update. However, it's such a warm, comfortable inconvenient place this day. You just can't fault it.

They charged me twice, couldn’t find my booking, then ignored me. Awful, awful service.
Pros:

Lovely neighbourhood.

Cons:

Hotel was overbooked. Then I was overcharged. Terrible service.

When I arrived they could not find my booking, despite my confirmation emails. I was then given a key to a room which was already occupied. I was then told the hotel was fully booked. The manager then found me a room and offered a discounted rate. When I left, I was double charged the original rate. Now the hotel is refusing to resolve or take any responsibility. Awful, stressful stay, and now I am $400 out of pocket, with no recourse.

This hotel should not be allowed to operate.

Pros:

Very nice location. Decorated well! The vibe seems fun.

Cons:

I wish there were more “included” things or validated parking. Breakfast would be nice to have included.

Pros:

It is a great location. It’s very small and a bit tucked away and was difficult to locate. Parking is horrible. There is a garage right next door but it’s old and creepy and super expensive. The people who work there are all super nice but there aren’t very many. The room was minuscule.

Cons:

Location is perfect for transit, both train and bus. It’s also a great walking location.

They need better breakfast but it does not matter because there is a great breakfast place, 3rd Coast, two door up.

Pretty good place to base a trip to Chicago
Pros:

Very good location in a really nice neighborhood and close to the Red Line which easily gets you to Wrigley, Rate Field, River Walk, etc. The staff was very friendly. Beds were comfortable.

Cons:

It’s an old building, needs upgrades. The bathroom was really small. Chicago hotels are overpriced.
