Sam'S VIP Hostel San Gil

The hostel has a nice terrace and seating area with tv. The wifi is good. It is located right in center of town overlooking park with gorgeous view. There are grocery stores and restaurants nearby. It is a five minute walk from the busstation. The staff is very friendly and helpfull. The kitchen is very comfortable and has free koffie in the morning. The hostal also has a pool and sauna area which is nice to relax at after doing an excursion. The bathrooms are very clean and the showers have hot water.

If you are coming to San Gil I would very much recommend staying at Sam’s VIP hostel!

This is the best hostel I’ve ever stayed in! 100% recommend if you come to San Gil. We plan on staying at least another week because of how nice it is.

General:
-Staff is great, especially Amanda. She is sweet and helps with anything you need. Sam, the owner, is very responsive if you need anything
-Wi-Fi is solid
-Location is perfect! It’s right in the center of town overlooking the park with a gorgeous view! I sit on the terrace in the mornings. From the pool, you can see the mountains and watch sunset. Can walk to grocery stores, local and regional bus stations, restaurants, El Gallineral Garden, a mall and a bank
-You can book tours through the hostel. So far we did paragliding. Amanda arranged it all. Company came and picked us up. They have rappelling, bungee jumping, white water rafting, ATV tours, tejo, and we are staying longer and have decided to do a lot more because we love the area so much!
-There is a pool and sauna

Rooms and bathrooms:
-I stayed in the 4-bed mixed dorm
-The dorm rooms are downstairs and there are 3 shared bathrooms, each with toilet, sink and shower. They are clean. There is hot water if you want. Hand soap dispensers in the bathroom.
-You get a complimentary towel and soap bar
-There is a lot of storage in the dorm room. I am in the dorm with my boyfriend and one other person and we each have enough space on shelves and in lockers (bring your own lock) to unpack some. There are hangers as well. Light and charging outlet at each bed
-There is a fan in the room, but we just open the window and that usually keeps us cool. We have turned the fan on a few times

Kitchen:
-There are two kitchens. The downstairs one on the same floor as our rooms is a bit smaller, so we use the upstairs one
-The one we have been using is one of the nicest kitchens I’ve had backpacking. Has microwave, oven, stove, electric kettle, blender. Kept pretty clean (but there will always be those guests who won’t clean up after themselves)
-Free morning coffee

Très bon emplacement, belle terrasse et piscine avec vue sur la ville. Et surtout une attention particulière à Amanda très efficace et de très bon conseil

Great location and room was an excellent price. The staff were very friendly and gave us advice for activities for us to do. We booked caving with them. Near a big shopping centre with a cinema.

Good kitchen great furniture, great staff, great location

The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff, felt very safe and attended to, kitchen is nice, hot showers! the access to a sauna and pool, beautiful balcony overlooking the park and the decorations were very cool. Liked the feel of community there, glad my room had a fan and a window...

Nicest and most helpful staff I’ve ever met at a hostel. Activities booked through hostel were great. Spacious bathrooms, kitchen, dining area and balcony. Pool area with view of city. Sauna. Location beside square with everything you need. NICEST STAFF EVER.

This was the best hostel I stayed in in South America! The pool is nice and clean, the sauna is nice as well! But the best part is the staff,. Daniella,. Amanda, Sebastian and Freddy make you feel like family.

Well located - good facilities

Great hostel with good facilities and activities. We liked the balconies on both sides of the hostel, both with nice views, and the pool is a nice feature. The room was really comfortable and spacious. The hostel resells tours from local agencies at a good price or sometimes a discount. It's not the liveliest hostel in town but the vibe suited us well.

Believe the hype, Sam's VIP is a superb hostel.
The location is great, right by the main square.
The facilities are brilliant, with a rooftop pool that isn't just a puddle.
They have wonderfully affordable private rooms.
And the staff are fantastic - great communication in advance from Sam (or possibly his AI twin...) over WhatsApp, and lovely, friendly service from everyone while there. Special shout-outs to Daniela and Amanda!
