Great Time!
Pros:

Overall our stay was great. This hotel needs more elevators. Included food was sufficient but you can always head out to a restaurant off hotel. Surprised they would not me pay for a late check out, but maybe thy were all booked.

Good Location
Pros:

This hotel is in a good location, with direct access to the beach.

Our room was clean and well maintained. The bed was comfortable, and there was plenty of wardrobe space. There was a great view of the beach from the balcony. Unfortunately the unusually cold weather meant we didn’t use it or the pool.

Breakfast and dinner buffet were fairly average, but there was plenty of choice. There is a good coffee shop in the hotel lobby.

A perfect location when visiting Miami Beach
Pros:

I read some of the reviews of this hotel before we departed. I was a little worried about what we might find.

However, our experience here was fantastic with none of the issues that others had mentioned.

We found the staff polite and helpful at all times. Our room was beautifully presented on arrival and kept clean throughout our stay.

The breakfast facilities were fantastic. Lots of choice of hot and cold foods and plenty to go around!

We had dinner here one evening and although the food was fine, we found there were better options out of the hotel for the rest of our trip

We only used the pool a couple of times but found it to be clean and well kept. The area around the pool was also very clean.

The gym was well equipped and easy to navigate.

Food and drink options during the day were good although a little pricey after tax and service was added.

The bus stop for both the public buses and the hop on hop off tours was directly outside of the hotel which was very handy!

All in all, we would definitely recommend staying at this hotel based on our experience.

Riu Plaza Miami Beach review
Pros:

Stopped to spend one night here after getting off a cruise, everything was nice, clean, and great service. Room wasn’t quite ready when we arrived so we took advantage of the jet ski package they offered while we waited

Great location but some issues need addressing
Pros:

Good points -
It’s in a great area. There is direct access to Miami Beach out of the rear hotel. The hotel has its own beach area with loungers. The beach walk outside went miles & it was lovely to walk along. It’s close to Lincoln Road which is full of shops & restaurants. Our room was a deluxe with sea view & the view was amazing. We were on the 10th floor. Room clean & cleaning staff friendly when we saw them.
Bad points -
We stayed during the unusually cold weather in Miami from 29/1/26 to 2/2/26. This is not the Hotels fault but we did think they could have tried to make the reception, bar & pool areas a bit warmer with heaters. It was so cold we were shivering. Similarly, the corridors & our room were very cold. We put the old blanket on our bed that was in the wardrobe & I was quickly bitten afterwards so it went back in its bag. Our room had dual sinks in the entry to the room which we felt was odd & not very hygienic as the shower & toilet was in a separate room. The rooms were not very sound proofed & we could hear the dull background voices & hair dryer of the room next door & assume they could hear us. Breakfast was not a relaxed affair. Very rushed with people being asked to quickly finish as there were queues waiting. Most of the staff were Spanish speakers with little English so it was difficult when we asked as question. That’s probably why they came across as a bit abrupt. I asked one lady where the cold milk was, she just shrugged & walked away. The way the breakfast buffet is designed is poor. It funnels everyone into a narrowish corridor sized area & we were all bumping in to each other. Oh, and the outside eating area is plagued by birds wanting food.

Would I go back, probably. It’s a nice hotel in a great location. They just need to do a bit better on staff friendliness’s (that costs nothing), re organise the buffet area & do something about those pesky birds.

Cold and Colder.
Pros:

This was booked for us through a travel agent and have to say it was not good considering the money we paid to stay there as it was our honeymoon we wanted something a bit special.
It definitely did not turn out like that, firstly we had bed and breakfast, room was ok apart from palm trees constantly brushing the windows ( it was breezy ) so kept waking you up, secondly the arctic blast that hit the states last week dropped the temperatures in Miami down to around 6-8c the hotel would not put any heat on and the a/c was stuck on cold, when asked if we could have a heat in the room they offered blankets which was outrageous tbh. Also the previous reviews were spot on about mainly Spanish only being spoken and staff not very nice.
Now to the breakfast, was stone cold on both morning and we both just ended up having cereal and had to wear a coat in the restaurant as it was so cold which probably made the food cold as well.

Save your money and go for another hotel if your thinking of booking this one you might not be so disappointed as we were.

Riu Plaza Miami achteruit gegaan
Pros:

We felt our stay at Riu Plaza Miami was not worth the money. For one week, including the resort fee, we paid €2400.
Approximately 90% of the staff were unfriendly. The housekeeping staff, in particular, didn't say anything when we encountered them. The reception staff could also clearly improve their hospitality.
Sleeping in was hardly possible because the corridors were very noisy. In our room, one of the beds was practically unusable, it was so uncomfortable. The curtains were dirty, even with bloodstains on them. The balcony was poorly maintained, the paint on the ceiling was in bad condition, and the laminate flooring had turned green.
This was our second stay here, but once again, the general hygiene and condition of the hotel were very disappointing.

Ok stay, till check out.
Pros:

We only stayed here for one night after our cruise. We had a good welcome and we got our room straight away, which was great as we had been up very early. We had some lunch from the little cafe, which was lovely! We slept well although ear plugs were a necessity. Breakfast was good, but busy. Having the room till midday was great. Then came check out. Not so great. We handed in our key cards and were then asked for the towel cards, which we didn't have. The receptionist said we would have been given one at check in, but we weren't. I said we were not given any and had only been here 1 night. He looked confused. After a pause he looked at us and said ' ok I choose to believe you." This was not very well received im afraid. I then said well whether you believe us or not we didn't have any. Not impressed. Hotel was nice but fell at the last hurdle.

Truly terrible
Pros:

I stayed in this awful hotel for 10 days, from December 25th until today. A terrible experience: the hotel is falling apart, as shown in the photos I’m attaching. But the unbelievable part is that when I asked them to turn on the heating in my room — where the temperature is below 15 degrees — they told me it doesn’t exist and that I should just use blankets. I’m attaching photos of the disgusting blankets they brought me. An experience to forget… truly terrible!

Nice hotel but some things to be improved
Pros:

This was our second time in this hotel. We like the location and access to the beach. The service is good.
The room we were given was spacious but a bit dated. The door has a gap all around through which light and noise come into the room. Sound-proofing should be improved and a general refurbishment would be good. We had neighbours that were very noisy. The first two days some people were having a party in their room. The second two days a couple with a kid that was screaming and running around in the room. This happened also at 6AM and did wake me up. If I am on holidays and I pay over 300 USD per night, I would like to be able sleep! There seems to be a lot of people that have bad manners: screaming and shouting in the corridors and slamming doors, regardless of the time of the day.

The lobby is spacious. The hotel is located in a relatively remote area, and the surrounding environment around the beac
Pros:

The hotel's location is rather remote, and the facilities are quite outdated. Both sinks in the room had clogged drains. The bathroom was large, and the entire room was spacious. The beach area was too crowded, and there was a tourist attraction nearby, making it very noisy. I wouldn't recommend it if you want a quiet vacation. The buffet was mediocre with a limited selection; although there was a discount on the first dinner, the taste was average.

Great location, no room service
Pros:

Nice hotel and excellent breakfast buffet. When we were there we got no room service and one of the nights was very noisy, with kids running and yelling on the halls at 3 am. Not sure if this is common or if it was bad luck. Staff friendly and lovely swimming pool and beach access.

Pros:

Our stay was good except one thing: the issue with the door lock. One day we had to change the key card. It was working for a little bit. But than we had to call for a service man. Apparently, there was a bigger problem. We lost an hour of our time because we didn't know if the door would be locked when we leave due to service man went to ask for help. Luckily, the lock got repaired when we came back.

Lovely hotel, great staff...but about that takeout policy...
Pros:

We had a most enjoyable visit to the Riu Plaza recently. Our group was 5 adults and 2 kids, ages 5 and 2. We found the hotel to be clean, comfortable, spacious, and generally well maintained. It's in the mid beach area, with many restaurants within a 10 minute walk. The vibe was very international, with many languages being spoken in the public areas. I enjoyed meeting and talking to folks from near and far.

As it's the middle of the school year, we didn't see a lot of kids, but ours had a great time. Reservations made sure we got the 2 connecting rooms we had requested. Staff were always warm and patient with the kids, even when they left a pile of dishes at breakfast.

The hotel is across the walking path from the wide, beautiful, well cared for beach. None of us wanted to use the pool but it got steady business from other guests.

Our king room was spacious although I thought the layout was odd. The drawers were in the middle of the room alongside a fridge, with the bed on one wall and a sofa opposite. The tv on the far wall was big but too far away for us to see well. Shower was huge and hot, towels were on the generous side. My husband ended up going out to get a bar of soap because he doesn't like the liquid soaps hotels provide now. But it makes sense from an environmental viewpoint, so we work around it when necessary. The room that our kids and grandkids shared was maybe 2/3 the size of ours, but between the 2 rooms the kids had space to bounce around.

We booked the bed and breakfast plan and it was the right choice for us. The breakfast buffet is lavish, with items that I would classify as lunch or dinner as well as breakfast. The grands and I had the buffet dinner one evening and that worked out very well for us even though both kids ended wearing some of the chocolate fountain out of the restaurant. :-) Again, we had a waiter who was patient with and attentive to the kids.

Although the hotel was fairly busy, noise levels in the public areas were quite manageable.

I have 2 complaints, one easily fixable and one perhaps less so. The fixable one was the location of our room, which was adjacent to a stairwell. We had requested a room at the end of the hall, and we got one. But the stairwell is lit up at all times, and the light shone right into the bed area. I don't like closed curtains, but we had to use the lighter pair to moderate the glare. If we were to return, I'd talk to reservations about that and I'm sure they would be helpful. I've attached a picture of the view from the bed.

For us, the big problem was that there is nowhere in the large lobby to eat a takeout meal. The hotel serves a sit down lunch and also has a cafe with items that can be made to eat in the lobby or take away. No other food is permitted in the lobby. I asked the cafe manager, someone at the front desk, and the concierge, and they all said that the cafe is an outside vendor and insists on no takeout in the lobby. The pool area does not have picnic tables, just the little ones next to the lounge chairs. The rooms are not set up for eating; there is no table and chair, and we don't eat meals on the bed. When you travel with kids, you're not always going to want to sit down for every meal. So this was a problem throughout the stay.

The Riu is not a bargain destination; Miami Beach is not intended to be. But it was more affordable than many options nearby and we would happily visit again were we to be in the area.
