Title: 6-Night Stay Ruined by Poor Staff Attitude
I stayed 6 nights at The Riviera Hotel, Taipei, Zhongshan District and unfortunately the experience was very disappointing.
The main issues were with the staff:
1. Front Desk: Check-in staff were unmotivated and gave very poor assistance. Felt like they didn’t want to be there.
2. Coffee Bar: Staff were indifferent and slow. No enthusiasm for customer service.
3. Hotel Cake Shop: A staff member named Verna was rude, arrogant, and dismissive to customers.
4. Rooms water pressure very very low.
For the price I paid, I expected much better hospitality. The service I received made the stay unpleasant. I have already emailed management and hope they address this.
I would not recommend this hotel until staff training improves.
I had a great stay at The Riviera Hotel. The hotel is very clean, and the breakfast was delicious and perfectly suited my taste. The staff is incredibly friendly, cheerful, and enthusiastic. Plus, its central location makes it very convenient to travel to famous attractions in Taipei. I will definitely recommend this hotel to my friends and family when they plan to visit Taipei!
Great breakfast, we did enjoy it. Hotel declaration and overall feeling is also good.
This hotel is rated five stars; however, it certainly does not feel like a five-star hotel. This was the worst hotel experience of my life.
Especially disappointing was the bakery inside the lobby. The staff were horrible, rude, and argued with customers. The hotel offers complimentary cake coupons, but when I tried to redeem mine, the staff looking for any excuse to add an unreasonable extra fee.
I don’t know if this is a trick by the hotel—offering customers complimentary drinks, cakes, and coffee, only to add unreasonable charges when they redeem the offers to generate additional revenue. Just be aware and watch out for unexpected charges.
房間與公共空間都很用心維護。
Stayed one night here. Absolutely loved it. This hotel has serious charm and I mean it in a good way. You walk in and are ported to the 1940s where people dress to impress and everything is formal and beautiful. I checked in and went to the bakery and got 2 pieces of pound cake. Went to my room, ate them, and walked back and got 2 more pound cakes. Very delicious.
The room was also very nice. Loved the headboard of the bed. The electrical outlets were in very convenient locations and no looking for the light switches to turn off the lights. They were exactly where you expected to find them. Loved how the hotel had a tea pot and the tea kettle was very cute. The sound proofing was also very good. Definitely will be back.
A wonderful and very helpful staffs especially Lourraine, Claire, Wilson & Daniel . I ate two night at the Mediterranean restaurant , excellent service. Breakfast
Is outstanding. Can't ask for anything more. The best hotel in Taipei. I love it very much.
各方面都非常滿意~

The hotel staffs are very friendly, the hotel lobby and rooms are beautiful and very clean, the breakfast is very good too and easy access to the Taipei metro , highly recommend it.
Using Agoda, I booked for a quiet room, executive suite, and notified that my check in time would be between 2300-2400, a logistics problem for most boutiques in Tapei, but not at all was this the case for this hotel! Everything I requested was not just met but met with service excellence. Dickson made my check in experience amazingly swift. His excellence was superb - I didn’t wait for anything more or less. The transaction literally took minutes and was very heartfelt and pleasant. When I got to my room, it was picture perfect with hidden gems of details, I am picky about clean rooms, and this room was spotless. Linens did not smell, no grime in random corners, even all the drawer amenities were in perfect order and spotless. Even though my window faced a flight path to a small airport, I did not hear a thing from the outside. Very well engineered. The hotel didn’t feel old, nor feel new but timeless. I enjoyed the room and the wifi so much, I was able to conduct my business meetings in perfect comfort. I was even able to order delivery and was very pleased that the uber eats rider came straight to my door within minutes to delivery some sundries I needed. This did create a problem, for me it became time. I explained this to the front desk officer of the day shift, Grace. Her name is befitting, as it was grace that I sought for a slightly later check out. Most East Asian hotels will not grant a modicum of it, especially if you’re from the south east asian bloc but not again the case with this hotel. Grace is a royal level brand ambassador, she gracefully granted the small extension I needed. I wasn’t rushed either by a pesky call from her office. I came out of my room refreshed and grateful for the experience. Impressions in hospitality are everything Dickson and Grace make for in the luxury hospitality industry. Everything a business traveler needs is perfectly close to the hotel 24/7. The location of this district made the drive from TPE T2 swift. The food and menu options were delicious. And this hotel is priced right. Now the only concerns I had were that the hotel is next to the flight path and occasionally the room did smell of jet fuel which gave me a slight headache. Tolerable for a businessman who frequents hotels but maybe of a concern for families with children. Other than that small issue, this hotel and its people make the five star category. I’ve stayed at the global hotel chains and have accumulated status with them over the years, but given what I’ve experienced with this brand, I have to come back and try it more: truly an aesthetic gem.
We had a wonderful stay at the Riviera Hotel! My family was comfortable and enjoyed the 5 days, 4 nights we spent there. The staff was very family and hospitable, making sure our stay was comfortable. They provided a baby cot and baby bath supplies for my toddler, which was above and beyond our expectations. The morning breakfast spread had a good variety, and we were always satisfied with the breakfast. The room was very clean and well-kept and the lobby area and lounging area on each floor was nice and comfortable. Our favorite part of the hotel was the rooftop, as we could watch airplanes fly by and soak up the mountain views and sun as we lay on the reclined seats. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and will definitely recommend The Riviera Hotel to anyone visiting Taipei, Taiwan.
Everything perfect from the food, to the staff.
