They came into our room at 10:30 pm, with a key! I will start this by saying the happy hour drinks and the omelets were the only redeeming qualities from my most recent stay here. For the past 3 or 4 years my husband's company has rented out many rooms in this hotel, as well as the expo center, for their annual winter get-together. This year started fine, until 10:30 pm on our first night. We were asleep, I heard some light knocking on the door, by the time I woke up and got to the door to check, no one was there. This happened two more times! Then we got a phone call to the room, by the time I answered, the person had hung up. Then, while back in bed, I hear two knocks followed by the key card noise, and the door opening. Thankfully, we had the extra latch to block the door from opening all the way, but that terrified me. Someone was using a key to enter our room while we were trying to sleep in the middle of the night. I looked out the peephole, the person was gone. I waited by the door to see if someone would come back, they did, it was some young guy in a hoodie, yelling that I needed to pay for my room, that the HOTEL was showing that this room should be vacant, and that they do not understand who is in here. Obviously, my blood was at a boiling point. The company paid for our room (thank you) and we even gave them a credit card for incidentals when we checked in. I told him I would call the front desk, as he was demanding that I do so, since I would not open the door. I called the desk and said it was inappropriate that they were harassing us like this after 10 pm. The woman on the phone took our name and said whoever checked us in did not do so properly and did not assign us that room number. She said she would inform management, but we never received an apology or any acknowledgement that their conduct was inappropriate.
Let me just say, as a paying guest, your incompetence is not my problem, don't harass guests in the middle of the night. And absolutely under no circumstances should you be trying to ENTER my room in the middle of the night. Also, maybe keep in mind, if it was so urgent and such an issue that you had to know who we were at that exact moment, maybe give it more than 20 seconds for someone to try to get to the door, or more than 4 rings on the phone for me to answer. I think we are all very lucky that kid did not make it past the extra latch on the door. If 20/20 has taught anyone anything, don’t mess with a young woman in a hotel room after dark. Still waiting for my apology.
Breakfast and atrium
Outdated looking rooms and smallish tv
Omelette was excellent
Very comfortable and spacious room. Loved how bustling it was for families
The room we got was right off the lobby and not private. I asked to move as they offered a different room when we checked in but they said it had already been taken and there was no other option
El desayuno exelente el lugar es muy tranquilo
It was nicely decorated, clean, updated. Large area for dining. Parking close to entrance. Indoor swimming pool. Choice of rooms. Mini fridge and microwave in room. Close to shopping.
Did not like having to pay for parking in an unsecure parking lot.
Staff was nice and checking in was very simple. The complimentary breakfast was beyond your normal complimentary hotel breakfast.
A/C didn't work, not the best sheets and pillows to my personal preference.
Everything
We frequent Embassy Suites for the suites, open layout, and free breakfasts. We haven’t stayed at this Embassy Suites since before Covid. I think the last time was 2018/19 just after they remodeled. Usually, the cost is pretty high during summer months. However, it was the end of January and the cost was very reasonable.
The layout is the same as I remember it. It has a very open, light colored, clean, and modern atrium..... more so than other Embassy Suites. The breakfast they served was what I would expect. I love my custom omelette! Service was great. Check-in was fast. Location is great, just past downtown SLO, but between SLO and Avila/Pismo.
The rooms felt a little more spacious than other Emabssey Suites. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom felt a tad small. The rooms didn’t have as much of a “remodeled” feel as the atrium did…. but honestly, all of that was fine and wasn’t a big deal. The big negative was the noise. Not so much the noise from the atrium, but noise from adjacent rooms. It felt like the was walls were “thin”. In any event, it wasn’t the end of the world and wouldn’t stop us from returning when the cost is right.
Big room
Fire alarm went off 12:10 AM. NO INFORMATION, wouldn't answer phone, no announcements. Ruined nights sleep.
Towel rack fell when tried to take Towel after shower
The hotel made a mistake on my billing through booking.com.
Breakfast was average. Not like the old embassy suites style of making everything fresh.
Rooms are very outdated. Bathrooms are very old
