Mauritian Fawlty Towers
Pros:

The location was fantastic. Right on the waterfront in a very nice part of town. The hotel looked quite smart and the lobby, bar and restaurant areas were very well appointed. The breakfasts were generous, varied and fresh. Highly enjoyable. The breakfast service by waiters was excellent.
The concierge team, some of the most handsome men I have ever seen, organised a day trip for us which was wonderful. The car was modern, cool and the driver informative and friendly. Ask for Alejandro. Alejandro also took us to the airport the next day.

Cons:

We were checked in an hour after the advertised time. We had to sit and wait in the lobby.
My friend was given her room key and when she arrived a woman was asleep in the bed. She was given someone else's room. I don't even know how that happens.
My room, when I finally got there, had someone else's packed luggage there. Staff were very hesitant to explain that.
My friend's minibar door wouldn't shut therefore didn't stay cool. I decided to check mine and there was a hole where the minibar should have been. No minibar!
On our last day we received notice that the hotel will be without any power for 3 hours. No lights, lifts, aircon, Wi-Fi. I was staying on the 4th floor and if I wanted to go to or from my room I had to climb the stairs. Lucky the electricity came on just before I had to bring my luggage down to take the taxi to the airport.
All the staff were good especially concierge staff. except one of the evening bar staff was gruff and unfriendly.
The staff were doing their best, but this hotel is trying to be 4 or 5 stars and while they know how to charge 5-star hotel prices they don't know how to run a 5-star hotel.

Faulty Towers Mauritian style
Pros:

The location was fantastic. Michael at the concierge desk was very helpful in organising a half day excursion and airport transport for us.

Cons:

Dysfunctional administrative processes and arrogant attitude of the bar staff. Our rooms weren’t ready at 2pm and they were juggling vacant rooms to meet the demand of guests checking in and the room allocated to me was already occupied with the person asleep in bed. I think they were more shocked than me when I charged into the room. There was also a power outage for several hours when we were about to check out meaning the lifts weren’t working (not to mention the AC and wifi).

All staff are excellent. Breakfast to the room is usually excellent but this time it was cold.
Pros:

Sephora was excellent. Breakfast to the room due to a regular hospital appointment arrived cold. Otherwise everything was excellent. Reception staff always very helpful. Sephora is very helpful and arranged a very comfortable room for us. Thank you, Stuart

L'emplacement idéal .

Cons:

La décoration n'est vraiment plus d'actualité, la piscine est à rénover, les plats proposés ne sont pas rafinés (ça fait plus brasserie que resto d'hôtel 5 étoiles). Très mauvaise expérience : on nous sert du vin dans des verres mouillés
