Great staff, great location, guest room needs some work for the price being charged.
Pros:

All of the staff we encountered from the front desk to the doormen to housekeeping were great! Polite, friendly and helpful! The city view from our room (2106) was fabulous and the location of the hotel in Chicago’s Gold Coast was great!

Cons:

Our room (2106) was a little shabby. The sofa was worn and the stitching on the seat cushions was coming apart. The chair provided as a desk chair was too low for the desk and seemed to be an occasional chair vs. a desk chair. There was a floor lamp that was not stable, the bed lamp next to the side of the bed closest to the windows was useless as a reading lamp, and the comforter cover was torn. Like I said, the room was a little shabby. It didn’t feel like an intentional collection of pieces.

Pros:

Excellent location, quite clean comfortable rooms, polite and accommodating staff and great bar/restaurant downstairs.

Cons:

The occasional car that was decked out in the gunshot popping muffler driving by. Nothing to do with the hotel

Pros:

I had a work event at the Newberry Library and needed something close by. While expensive due to the neighborhood, it was a comfortable and pleasant place to stay given my schedule and needs.

Pros:

The aesthetic of the room and hotel in general, the ease of valet service, and check-in. Considering one of the nearby garages was $50 for the same time frame, paying the $80 valet service for 8-24 hours was worth it for someone who doesn't drive in big cities more than once or twice a year.

Cons:

The beds were comfortable, but I generate a lot of heat when I sleep. I'll swear that I was boiling in the comforter and sheets provided while heating the entire room at the same time. It isn't a problem everyone has, but the breathability of the fabric made for a night of interrupted sleep for me.
