nice but could be nicer.
Pros:

Thoughts about the Banff Caribou Inn
Overall I would give the banff caribou inn a 4

We stayed here a total of seven nights.

Room: the room appeared to be recently refurbished with modestly worn carpet, and furniture. In particular the bathroom appeared to have been really recently redone with granite and tile floor and walls and new fixtures. The room was large enough to include a sofa to occasional tables and a breakfast table with two chairs besides the queen size bed

However, some things appeared to have be older and worn out: such as the occasional table, the showerhead, and the thermostat which was an LCD display. the worst thing was the bed which was so soft it didn’t support the body while sitting on edge.

Housekeeping: paragraph housekeeping, service the bad daily and forgot to replace the towels one day

Housekeeping did not clean or replaced the coffee pot one day and did not clean or replace the used coffee filter in the coffee pot one day. They also did not clean or empty the hot water kettle for tea for over four days.

The included breakfast was adequate. The eggs Benedict had a very hard English muffin at the bottom and often the egg inside was not sunny side, but fried fried hard. The choice of breakfast meats and carbohydrates and fruit was adequate if not sumptuous. The service was good.

Side note on another day when I ate at the restaurants, happy hour the prime rib sandwich and included fries were very good. In particular, the fries were served fresh and hot and crispy. The prime rib sandwich tasted more like a cheesesteak, but it still tasted good.

The front desk: was generally helpful and friendly. They routinely provided passes for the bus system, which was very helpful.

The location of the hotel is at the edge of the main street such that we were the second stop on the bus route for the ski resorts.

I did not try the spa. The Ski locker had open bottoms at the end and appeared only useful if you drove to the end with your skis and did not want to leave them on on a ski rack on top of the car. There was no attendant and there was no place to change and put on boots. Although carrying skis, snowboards and boots into the room were tolerated.

The Keg restaurant service excellent.

We always enjoy this hotel.
Pros:

The hotel is very nicely appointed and clean. We like the underground parking and attentive, friendly staff.

Cons:

A basic complementary breakfast would be nice. Only option is to purchase breakfast which is fine if you want a lot. They no longer have complimentary coffee in the lobby. The pillows are too thick.

Overpriced for a 2 doubles room
Pros:

I liked the hot pools & sauna available. The bathroom was nicely Reno’d with a big tiled shower. We had the accessibility room. Rocky Mountain soap company toiletries & soaps in the bathroom. There was underground parking included although the parkade was very tight. The Keg is built in to the hotel & the hotel offered ski shuttles.

Cons:

Our room’s window faced the roof with taller buildings surrounding it so we had little natural light coming in. Absolutely no view of barely the sky, which made half our room feel dark & dingy. Our bathroom wasn’t 100% cleaned as there were hairpins on the floor & sticky spots on the bathroom counter. There was no soundproofing coming from the hall so it was very hard to sleep in because of the skiers rush in the morning, followed by housekeeping going around & knocking on all the doors. Our fridge was absolutely tiny & the tv in the room was tiny & cheap. I believe that the room would’ve been acceptable if closer to $330-350 for 3 nights. However, $567 for 3 nights for this particular room felt like robbery.

Cons:

We were at the back of the place right next to the loading dock on the second floor and it was so noisy with the coming and goings and everytime someone opened the door it would bang and that went into the small hours so not happy
