Room was spacious and clean. Parking was good. Some of the staff were friendly. Building looks amazing. In a lovely countryside area with lovely view.
On arrival main receptionist was rude made us wait while he took a personal call. The temperature was 34 on Saturday the rooms were uncomfortably hot. There was no air conditioning just a fan that was not enough for such a large room. We asked fir adfitiobsl fan to jo avsil. Ceiling had obviously leaked with a big broken stain on. To complete the awful visit there was a wedding being held. We asked if we could sit amd eat somewhere inside. However because of the large amount of guests there was no space left
We were told we can dit in the car park where the picnic tables were. I asked for explanation twice from the manager and has yet to even contact me. I wont be using either booking.com or this hotel. This was meant to a present for my partner for he birthday but heavily spoilt the experience.
Nothing.
Do your self a favour and stop anywhere else but here. We booked two nights in a superior double room with breakfast and honestly its the worst hotel experience I have had in my life.
Starting at check in, we arrived a little early and I understand check in is at 3 however in the 100s of hotels I have stayed in my life I have never been made to feel like such an inconvenience for being early. I then came back at the time they told me to be greeted once again in the same manner. The member of staff who had already made me sign the check in form made me do it all over again and we were never informed of anything other than the time of breakfast.
We the get our room key, on the way to the room there are multiple unsettling stains on the carpets, we finally get to the room and the first thing that hits you is the heat, unbearable heat, it felt like the inside of an oven, then you look around the room and you see the carpet is coming away from the floor and the only air you can get is from a window the size of a stamp that opens maybe 3 Inches if your lucky.
We have a night of suffering hell in this oven of a
room on what I can only describe as the most
uncomfortable bed I have ever lay on in my life, I
woke up in the middle of the niaht to nearlv throw
up due to the heat barely keeping my food down.
We decide to get some breakfast and get out off
the hotbox of a room only to not be greeted by
anyone at breakfast and have to seat ourselves
and try and find where the breakfast is however
after opening the warming trays we find some
scabby burnt bacon, some half cold fried eggs
and some dry scrambled egg, no juice left and a
few bits of fruit as well as a couple of crap aldi
pastries
We go off to get away from the hotel and come
back on the evening, I went to the bar as its a
friday night in hope of a couple of drinks however
im then informed due to a event being hosted
there I cant have a drink as the bar is busy with
the event.
Big room
Old and dated in need of repair , staff not welcoming
I liked the character of the place. The staff were friendly. Comfortable beds. Nice bathroom. Easy to access.
I thought it could do with a bit of TLC, the paintwork and some of the finer details could've done with updating to stay up to date and fresh looking. The bathroom showed some clear signs of age and lack of care with tiling and paintwork.

There is no fridge in the room so you cant even store a cold drink in the hell hole
I then decided after the very unhelpful bar
manager did nothing to rectify this situation to leave and head into Chester however on doing so we heard another set of discrunteled customers leaving and decided to demand my money back and go home.
The poor lad on reception looked about ready to have a breakdown and had a waiting room full of other guests with issues.
On asking for my money back he told me he needed a manager but they said they would be a while as thev were involved in the same event that ment we couldnt have a drink so I threatened to go make it public infront of this event of just how disappointing the experience was, seconds later someones arrived to give me my refund and get me out of there
The place isnt a hotel, its a hovel, I imagine there a prisoner of war camps with nicer stand and more amineties.
For the love of god do not stay here
The only one thing I can't have fault with is the bathroom was quite nice.. thats it.
The location
The breakfast
The room was huge
The separate bath and shower unit
Free parking
Plenty of wardrobe space and drawers if needed
Very quiet
The 2 seater sofa
I asked for and was brought a fan as it was so hot upstairs which was helpful
Decor needs to be kept on top of. A hole in the wall next to the bathroom lamp, scuff marks, etc.
There was dust next to the bed and sweet wrappers in a side drawer. Plus someone's phone charger had been left in the room so clearly not checked fully before next guest arrives.
Not enough plug sockets! Those that were available were under a dressing table. Be great to have more plugs.
Better signage for rooms. Took me a while to find my room as I was presented with several white fire doors all closed and thought I had taken a wrong turn however you just need to walk through the door in front to get to further rooms. A sign on that door would be amazing!
Hotel is lovely and full of character
Junior suite is awesome great balcony too
Staff were all helpful. The room was excellent and it worked out very well for my purpose in visiting.
The only thing that disappointed me was that I anticipated eating in the dining room each evening but it was only open on 2 of the days. I thought I had prebooked for my first evening and it was only on arrival that I found out that my meal would be in the Terrace Bar. In fact the two menus were very similar.
It was not what I expected but did not spoil my trip.
The location is great for Chester and Cheshire Oaks, The hotel garden is lovely and has nice views.. The staff are friendly and the room was very comfortable. The pool, steam room and sauna were an added bonus we took the package including breakfast and we found it great value for money. Will definitely stay again.
Nothing
Old with caricature and charming
All carpets in need of repair or replacement
Location
The pool area and changing rooms very poor stsndard. No doors on lockers and ones with doors all broken. Garden chairs to sit on!
gym and Spa are pretty good although they need to update some of the machines. Rooms are fine but look dated.
The food at dinner was pretty awful, I wouldn't eat there again.
The venue is beautiful
The small details are missing. No Robes in the room, no small toiletries, the toilet roll half a roll? Was very warm, no air-conditioning.
Nothing
The room was dirty, the bed looked like it hadn’t been made. The bath had hair in the and was covered in black mold. There was no air conditioning in the room. We were right next to the spa and told this was one of the better rooms but it was humid and our clothes felt damp from it. In the morning going to breakfast the women hosting looked at us like we had 2 heads before even greeting us. The restaurant floor was dirty and the whole room was very tired. When checking out nobody even asked how our stay was to express our disappointment.
After my disastrous afternoon tea in February (see earlier review) I did eventually get a response and was offered a complimentary afternoon tea for two so they could put things right. Again I informed thrm of my allergies. My friend and I arrived and was shown to a smaller much prettier room overlooking the garden. Again no tablecloths but the table wasn't chipped this time. The teas arrived and I was pleased I had a stand this time rather than soup bowls. Sadly the sandwich was still very dry barely any fillings. There was a small triangle of a brownie which was very nice. The scone was served with cream in a small dish and the "jam" was in a bowl too this time. I spread the "jam" on my scone (which was very nice) and then the cream. I took a bite only to find it wasn't jam but marmalade! I hate marmalade. I called the young waitress over and asked if they had served me marmalade. She said yes as they knew I couldn't have strawberry jam! She asked if she could try and find some jam. By then I was past caring and had had enough. I did think that with three months notice they could have had organised some actual jam. I did email but have had no response.
