We booked an afternoon tea with a buy a gift voucher we received. It was our 23rd wedding anniversary. We have enjoyed many afternoon teas over the years at many different places. Unfortunately, this was by far the worst. I do not usually do reviews but my Husband and I were really disappointed. Signage was poor, welcome was poor, sandwiches were soggy and strange taste, weird bread rolls, crumbs on floor, tables not cleared. Waitress spray cleaning the tables next to us and wiping with a napkin! The scone was delicious and still warm, unlike the coffee. Waitress and staff all busy chatting. Sorry but we will not be returning.
It’s located very near Chester and Cheshire Oaks Outlet and is a step up from the usual chain hotels. The property has lots of character, a nice spa/pool, and free parking.
Unfortunately the room was cold, the central heating being off. However we appreciated that given the size of the place if all the room radiators were on their fuel bills would be prohibitive. The situation was remedied as when raised with reception we were given a small electric heater which worked fine.
Lovely building
Spa was out of order room needed updating and repairs
The location was lovely and the room was amazing, staff were very helpful.
The facilities were abit lack luster and the bar was very slow.
Nice location
Spa facilities out of order, main bar and terrace unavailable as wedding had it all booked.
Nice outside space, spacious bedroom
Broken coffee machine, and we chose this hotel so we could use the pool etc and it was closed and we were not given any compensation, and the staff were not apologetic. We had planned our stay around a swim and steam and were denied!
Lovely area. Nice building and room.
We booked this hotel as it is a hotel and spa. On the day of our stay, which was booked for my birthday, payment was taken from my account. An hour later I received a phone call from the hotel reception to advise the spa was closed due to water issues and we could reschedule, if required.
Surely I could have been informed earlier, before payment was taken?
I enquired about a discount or would anything be offered as a gesture of goodwill due to the inconvenience of the spa being closed and the fact this is why we chose to stay in this particular hotel and the receptionist said nothing would be provided.
I understand these things can happen, however, to not compensate your customer due to an inconvenience with the service you are offering and I paid for is unacceptable. This was a birthday treat and the only option was to reschedule or lose my money.
Sadly won’t be returning.
Spacious clean rooms in a perfect setting
Two double Bacardi and coke from hotel bar £25 , so disappointed at the cost. But hey it was only a meeting with friends before going into Chester .
Location
Heater didn’t work in the bathroom
It was very cold
We attended a family wedding. The wedding setup and area for that was lovely, very well put together had no complaints there. Breakfast was also good.
Shower in our room didnt work and was scalding hot, so we couldnt use it.
We paid for an upgraded room, it had a fire exit next to the bed which back onto a corridor to other rooms, people walking past at night would try to open it thinking it was a door to go through. Luckily it was lock so nobody actually came in but it was annoying with the noise and banging and you wouldnt expect this due to the cost of the actual room.
Floor boards creaked in the room above us like mad so that woke us up in the morning.
At breakfast where you collect you plate for hot food there is no sign to warn you that they are hot. Myself and other guests that we were with all burnt our fingers initially picking up the plates, staff didnt seem to bothered when we pointed this out. A simple sign would of helped.
It was a peaceful environment to get away and just relax
No bins or ashtrays around the grounds,
Also unreliable taxi firm as it meant we couldn't go into town centre
Spacious clean room, breakfast staff very friendly.
Great location for Chester zoo and the blue aquarium and Cheshire oaks
Bed was quite uncomfortable but fine for one night
