Bedroom radiator and towel rails did not work. Water in bathroom basin did not run away immediately, it stayed in basin and drained after time. Evening meal was not good and lighting in restaurant drab, no atmosphere. Most of the light bar menu was unavailable….no bread, no roast beef, no halloumi. Lack of staff.

The location was perfect as we booked this stay as an overnight trip for our son's birthday, we went to Chester Zoo and Blue Planet aquarium, all super close and easy to find. Lots of options for eating out as well at the nearby retail parks (great for families!). The hotel itself was a nice, older building and the family room was really spacious and beds comfortable. The bathroom however had a lot of mold on the ceiling over the bath and when I mentioned it to staff they said housekeeping would have a look, but it must have been an ongoing problem because it was far spreading throughout the bathroom. We did use the swimming pool at the allocated time for children and it was a good size with pool noodles available for the kids. Breakfast was ok, reflective of the price. However, we were incorrectly charged for the breakfast when we checked out (it was included in the booking fee) and the refund only came through after I chased it a few days later. Coincidence perhaps....
The mold on the bathroom as well as the staff's reactions to it was questionable.

Hired a cot but the base was very hard- travel cot but mattress very thin we couldn’t use it.

The hotel was clean, comfortable, and the food and facilities were brilliant. We got the room on a discount and ended up with a suite instead of just a basic room which was unexpected. The pool was clean and a comfortable temperature, but we did both say larger changing rooms would be better. The breakfast was really tasty - we both helped ourselves to a cooked breakfast and some bits from the continental breakfast options. We didn't eat here other than breakfast so can't comment on the rest of the food. The location is just out of the way enough to be quiet, but not too far so getting into nearby locations is pretty easy.
The bathroom probably needs regrouting, and a fan for when the baths/showers get steamy. The changing rooms for the pool are small. The place is a little bit of a maze, so it's easy to get lost looking for your room! But these are all trivial things and the stay was wonderful.

Our room number 53 was not like photos with no windows just skylights very claustrophobic but would stay again but not in this room
