Close to Chester Zoo and Blue Planet Aquarium
⭐ 1/5 – Completely unacceptable cleanliness, especially with a baby
Unfortunately, the condition of our room was absolutely disgusting. We were staying with our 8½-month-old baby, who is now crawling and exploring everything, which made the lack of cleanliness even more concerning.
There appeared to be dead bugs/insects on the carpet, along with hair and other debris that quite clearly should have been picked up if the room had been properly hoovered before our arrival. The quilt was visibly stained, and there were unpleasant marks/residue on the walls and shower curtain. There were also large, obvious cobwebs around the ceiling and light fitting, which clearly suggests the room had not been thoroughly dusted or cleaned for some time.
Even the curtains had been left hanging off their hooks. Thankfully, my husband is 6ft tall and was able to stand on a chair and just reach to put them back on himself – although guests really shouldn’t be having to carry out basic maintenance to their hotel room.
More seriously, the glass tops on the bedside tables were not secured at all. They could simply be lifted or pulled off. This is a significant safety concern, particularly in a room occupied by a small child who is at the stage of pulling themselves up, reaching for things and exploring. A heavy piece of unsecured glass being pulled down could cause a serious injury.
I appreciate that hotel rooms won’t always be immaculate, and I wouldn’t normally complain about the odd minor imperfection. However, this wasn’t one isolated issue. Bugs, hair and debris on the carpet, stained bedding, dirty marks, an unclean shower curtain, substantial cobwebs, curtains hanging down and unsecured glass furniture all in the same room point to a much bigger problem with housekeeping and basic room checks.
To describe the room as disappointing would be an understatement.
Such a relaxing stay, the room was amazing. Staff were friendly and made me feel special for my birthday.

No hairdryer in room food menu was knocked down to bare minimum and over priced lipstick mark on glass asked for water on table got warm water in a vase so wasn't a great experience

we didn,t like our neighbouring guests slamming their doors late at night.
Hotel was presented perfectly. The room was clean and fantastic for the money paid. Car park was large with plenty of spaces. SPA and Gym were great as well. Would defiantly visit again in the future. Thank you!

Food was excellent both breakfast and dinne r- we paid for these. The Spa was nice . we paid for a massage for my partner which she enjoyed. parking was good
the room was too hot - despite asking for the receptionist to help with this on checkin we were unable to get any help. It was over 20* degrees outside and the radiators were on full....it was very uncomfortable. we could not leave the window open as they opened directly onto a small courtyard where staff/ guests were smoking so it was noisy...there was a wedding going on....and also we were directly over the kitchen and the large extraction unit which kept us awake . we woke up very tired and sleep -starved. This was supposed to be a 50th birthday treat and we had travelled from manchester for it, we upgraded to room 8. I really hope that this could be looked into and sorted for us - we NEVER complain or write poor reviews but we were shattered after the sleep and we were thoroughly excited to come and visit you before this.
