It was all fine
Hotel and room was grt
Absolute scarse menu and to top it off didn't have half of what was available left bloody starving and disgusted
Location is brilliant and suits what I need
Disappointed that the pool was closed for refurb, but they’ve got to do it at some point
The staff were very abrupt and at times rude, we went for a drink in the bar at roughly 20:30 only to be told that the bar will be closing after 1 drink. We were unsure of where to go for breakfast so proceeded to reception to ask, after asking we were told that breakfast will likely be closed at 09:00 despite the website stating 10:00. There was a very limited selection of food at the bar, which forced us to find food off site.
Every member of staff I met seemed to go beyond what I expected - extremely helpful.
The pool etc was closed on my second night for maintenance, which I do appreciate has to happen.
Comfortable beds, good bathtub/ shower, swimming pool, and sauna
Great bar and spa
The bed were a bit too hard and more pillows would have been better
You need to go into this hotel with realistic expectations. The price reflects exactly what you are getting. The exterior, the history of the building as a former Marriott, and the golf course setting give the impression of a high end property. Unfortunately, that is no longer the reality. This is now a budget hotel, and the experience matches the price point.
The rooms are clean and tidy, but very tired. Towels and sheets feel extremely thin and worn. It’s functional rather than comfortable. Again, for the price paid, it is not shocking, but don’t expect luxury.
Breakfast is not worth adding. It is overpriced and honestly the worst breakfast I have had in a hotel. It is cooked to order but the options are poor. There is no fresh fruit, only tinned fruit and very basic yogurts. It feels like cost cutting everywhere. I am not sure what guests expect at this price, but it certainly does not match the image the hotel tries to project.
The gym situation is disappointing. Guests are charged an additional £5 to use it, which feels unreasonable. The equipment appears to be from the old Marriott days. It is outdated, much of it does not work properly, and parts of the gym are sticky and have an unpleasant smell. After seeing the pool, I would not go in it. It looks neglected and uninviting.
That said, the staff are genuinely helpful and polite. They do care and try to assist where they can. However, this is not a five star level of service and you are charged extra for many basics. Even small details like staff greeting guests in outdoor jackets add to the sense that the hotel is running on a tight budget.
In summary, this is a cheap hotel and you get what you pay for. If you book with that mindset, it is acceptable. Just do not let the exterior or golf course setting mislead you into expecting a luxury stay.
Location is fantastic for what I need
Nothing of note
Fantastic staff in particular Mohi on reception, nothing too much trouble! Good gym with free parking, excellent breakfast. Lovely room with large 32” tele, bed was great too!
Paying for gym.
Place is lovely, was hoping swimming pool would stay open later which would be my only criticism. Maybe a bit of back ground music in the club house as well
It’s nice
