So relaxing, came back home feeling revitalised.
Pros:

The experience was amazing. Great staff and good food. Plus we were right on the beach.
We came back relaxed and refreshed. Highly recommend

Cons:

There was no option to go full board or half board.

We had a lovely and memorable stay at Upendo Beach Boutique Hotel.

The location is simply beautiful, with breathtaking views and a peaceful ambiance. The staff were exceptional—especially Theo, who was incredibly helpful and welcoming throughout our stay.

Although I made an error in my booking by reserving the two-bedroom villa for only two adults, the hotel management showed great understanding. They kindly offered a generous solution by asking us to cover only 50% of the additional amount, which we truly appreciated.

The villa itself was spacious, clean, and beautifully designed. The entire property is well-maintained and provides a wonderful boutique experience.

One recommendation: it would be great if a pool heater could be added, as the water can be quite chilly in July.

Overall, we enjoyed our time very much and thank the team for their hospitality!

Pros:

Very good place to spend a week in a relaxing and comfortable way. Villa is great for a big company, with spacious rooms, designed to deliver the comfort and coziness to every minute you will spend inside. You have everything you may need. If you’d don’t - the stuff will solve our problem. And the famous The Rock restaurant is in 1 minute away.

Beautiful secluded boutique hotel with unforgettable staff and services
Pros:

Upendo is a lovely boutique hotel on Pingwe beach. The service and staff were exceptionally stellar and it was easy to book rides and excursions. The room was spacious and always kept clean. It was nice to have private beach access and very interesting to see the tide come in and out.

Cons:

Keep in mind that this location is very far from other parts of Zanzibar. Travel to Stone Town, Kendwa/Nungwi, and Mnemba Island is over an hour.

Beautiful common areas, rooms and service lacking.
Pros:

Restaurant and common areas for pools and daybeds were beautiful.

Cons:

The room itself was spacious but not well designed. For example, even though the room was huge it did not have seating so the extra space was unusable until we pulled in chairs from the common area. The patio doors were also problematic as they didn't close all they way(there was a one inch gap), the doors did not open all the way as promised because the hinges were all rusted and the curtains could not be pulled back easily. The shower in the room was also not well designed as water sprayed out to 1/3 of the bathroom whenever the shower was used.

Service also felt awkward and inconsistent though we could tell they were trying. Airport transfer was arranged seamlessly but there was one day were our Whatsapp messages were not read for 45 minutes and it took around 45 minutes to arrange a taxi into Stone Town. Wifi was also very spotty at this property - which was not the case at another property we stayed at down the road. Service for meals was also awkward as we would be asked for orders before we were ready but then never checked in on again after receiving food.

Overall for the steep price (2.5X the cost per night of the other property we stayed at) we did not feel the stay at Upendo was worth it.
