Stayed here for a charity event. We were upgraded in our room & was impressed with size of room, bed was comfy too. However I have never stayed at a hotel with such a lack of lighting in room. Massive room & no ceiling lights at all, all there was were small lamps either side of bed so at night the room was too dark to even make a coffee!!! Even in the morning it was still so dark looking for things in our bags tricky..There was a unit & mirror but couldn't use it no lighting!! Bathroom floor tiled so was freezing underfoot. We had an interlocking door which was unlocked our side so moved sofa infront of it!. Shame as room Massive & got potential to be lovely......
Food we had was lovely & drinks expensive pink prosecco £47!!
Basic hotel but wouldn't choose to stay here again.
We stayed one night in this hotel and all was fine until we had an issue. I was promised a refund for the poor service received and despite numerous calls on my behalf and no one contacting me back the refund still has not been paid after 4 months . There have been a number of excuses as to why with the finance department not being staffed fully and the owner needing to sign it off. I am amazed that such a renowned hotel chain treats its customers so badly when it fails to deliver a quality service.
Brands hatch racing bar great atmosphere Tom the bar tender made me and my partner very welcome. Explained the different cocktails which my Mrs tried a couple , which were fantastic. Stayed at bar definitely lot longer than we intended lol. He will go far and this great place
We arrived at the hotel at 3:20 PM for a 3 PM check-in, only to be told our room wasn’t ready. Housekeeping hadn’t even started, and we were asked to wait in the lobby for 30 minutes before receiving our key. This was just the beginning of a deeply frustrating experience.
Upon entering the room, the bathroom was in appalling condition: silicone peeling off, black mould around the edges, and brown stains on the shower base and sides. The window corners were covered in mould, and while lying on the bed, we noticed a live spider on the ceiling—absolutely unacceptable hygiene standards.
We tried to dine at the hotel restaurant, which had only 4–5 occupied tables, but were turned away because we hadn’t booked in advance. No prior information was provided about needing a reservation. We then went to the racing bar, which was overcrowded with long queues and only one staff member at the counter. There were no menus at the tables—only a drinks list—and with a 3-year-old child, waiting 15+ minutes without assistance was simply not feasible.
Eventually, we had to leave the hotel premises to find food elsewhere. Thankfully, Jeeva and Chef Pankaj helped us get something suitable for our child, which we truly appreciated amidst the chaos.
Overall, this was a disastrous one-night stay. The room was in terrible condition, and the lack of communication and support throughout the property made it worse. I sincerely hope this is not the standard across all rooms, but based on our experience, I wouldn’t recommend
Second time staying here, always pleasant when staying. Pool area is nice, rooms are okay, could do with a freshen up.
There’s a bar area that is always busy, the staff was non stop back to back with customer and still getting things done so just wanted to say thank you and especially to Amy as well she worked very hard.
Is good place and room was clean and tidy. Value was right. Dinne was very tasty. Stuff was friendly. Especially Jakub Kubiak was very nice and friendly.
Lovely experience, friendly staff (Jakub Kubiak is the best) and good atmosphere. Great food in the restaurant and good portions. Room was clean and functional. Good value for money.
The Good:
- The staff working at the reception desk were all fantastic. Especially the lady with the French accent (unfortunately I didn't catch her name), she deserves a raise.
- The food was alright and pretty tasty, but on the upper end of what I'd expect to pay for a diner cheeseburger.
The Awful:
- The room itself. One of the most rundown hotel rooms I think I've EVER seen. I've genuinely had more pleasant stays in £40 per night hostels.
Threadbare, stained carpets everywhere. Paint peeling off in chunks on almost every wall. Mould on the bathroom ceiling covered up by a quick paint job. Toilet bowl rim caked in faeces from previous guests. Bath's hot water tap didn't work at all. Multiple bathroom tiles cracked and broken. Uncomfortable ancient mattress/pillows. Poor quality and outdated TV where every channel came through 'fuzzy'.
Top that off with random damp smells in corridors and zero sound proofing in rooms. So that every voice, cough, door slam and 6am delivery person within 20 metres can be clearly heard, and you have one AWFUL night's sleep.
Reading through older reviews I can see these points have come up multiple times. So clearly the owners couldn't care less, and are happy for it to be run into the ground at the expense of guest's comfort.
Who'd have thought the "We're so sorry, we'll definitely look into these issues" generic hotel responses actually mean zilch?
I would never stay at a Mercure hotel again.
Wasn't quite sure what to expect based on the various reviews and while facilities a little dated, really enjoyed my visit. Friendly welcome, well equipped gym, nice pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. Great value too for day pass.
Perfect pit stop before Brands Hatch.
We come here most years as it is so convenient for motor racing. This hotel has sometimes been laughingly bad. However over the last 2 years it has shown signs of improvement. This year is a mixed bag. Firstly the staff are great and do their very best and at least the hotel appears to now be fully staffed. I'll start with the negatives: we booked the restaurant, phoned to check and confirm booking. We get to restaurant and they had no record of booking!. We went to reception to check and confirm second night restaurant booking. Turned up, no booking again!
Get this sorted!.
No TV remote in room.
Positives: staff were great and attentive although needed organisation. Still not clear why they close bars whilst they are still busy?
Will stay again for the convenience but would be really pleased to see these organisational issues getting sorted
I’ve been a member of this gym for a while now, and I have to say that Adam at reception really stands out. From the moment you walk in, he greets everyone with a genuine smile and makes you feel welcome — even on those early mornings when you’d rather still be in bed!
Adam is always professional, helpful, and goes above and beyond to assist with any questions or issues. Whether it’s helping with membership queries, booking classes, or just offering friendly encouragement, he does it all with a positive attitude. It’s clear he takes pride in his job and really cares about the members’ experience.
Little touches, like remembering people’s names or asking how your training is going, make a big difference. It’s rare to find someone who consistently delivers that level of customer service.
Thanks, Adam, for always setting such a great tone for the gym — you’re a real credit to the team
Lovely stay, breakfast staff always very helpful and looking after the lads that stop there for work. Nice to wake up to happy people and start your day positive. Special mention to Terri she’s been very thoughtful and couldn’t do any more to help 👍🏻
Room was ok it could have done with a comfortable chair
Hotel has a motorsport theme
The Bar advertises F1 coverage whilst the F1 qualifying was on it was not on we arranged to come back to view it to find Football on instead watched in our room on an ipad insteaf
We were there for a race meeting the Drivers briefing was at 07:45 no breakfast until 07:30 at a werkend staff were annoyed when we arrived @ 07:00 on a Saturday - racing is a normal working day at weekend suggest the hotel moves breakfast to a 06:30 start - appreciate we should have checked rather than assume it was the same as Friday morning
The Portobello Inn just down the road does great Pizzas
The Pied Bull in Farnngham is also good
Hotel’s bar prices are surprisingly high but where isn’t these days no draft beer just lagers
I had dinner this evening with a friend and we honestly had the most attentive, friendliest service imaginable by a lovely lady named Michelle. She is an absolute diamond and genuinely the best waitress that we have ever come across.
Michelle is absolutely wonderful and honestly the best waitress we have ever come across.
Give this wonderful, kind lady a pay rise !
We came for dinner and had a lovely meal - Amy was our waitress and was really friendly and attentive! Highly recommend :)
From the time we came in Amy was our waitress and I cannot fault her she was very helpful and attentive to all our needs. She recommended the specials to us and gave us advice on specific wines. Always asking if we’re ok and if we needed anything. The food was lovely
We were greeted with a warm welcome by our waitress Amy. She took our order which came promptly and the food was amazing. Will be coming back
Having a lovely stay here at Mercure brands hatch hotel. The staff are lovely they went out there way to let us eat in the sports bar instead of restaurant and Tom behind the bar has been excellent all day from the minute we y in he has been looking after us and has made the best cocktails thankyou , big shout out To u tom 😁
I booked this hotel in May in preparation to watch my son racing at Brands Hatch. At 18:20 the day before my arrival my booking was cancelled by email. Apparently due to overbooking. The price had doubled since making my reservation and due to GREED they cancelled my booking. Unfortunately due to the distance I will now not be able to watch my son racing. Disgusting.
