We stayed at this hotel for only one night, from about 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM. The room cost $235 for the night, which is already quite expensive. At check-in, the hotel also took a $200 safety deposit, which we were told would be returned if nothing in the room was damaged or missing.
After checkout, I checked my bank account and discovered that the hotel had charged me an additional $185. When I called to ask why, I was told it was because there were blood stains on the towels and on the bed sheet, and they claimed they could not remove them.
This explanation is extremely surprising and difficult to believe. These were fresh stains from only a few hours earlier, and any professional hotel laundry service should be able to remove blood stains from sheets and towels.
Nothing in the room was broken, damaged, or missing. The room was otherwise left in normal condition. Charging a guest $185 for something that can be washed is unreasonable and feels like an abuse of the deposit policy.
For me, $185 is a significant amount of money, especially after already paying $235 for one night. I have stayed in many hotels and have never experienced anything like this.
Charging $185 for washable stains is simply unacceptable.
I feel very disappointed and frustrated with how this situation was handled. I hope the hotel management reviews this charge and considers issuing a refund.
If this charge is not reviewed and resolved, I will have no choice but to dispute the charge with my credit card and file a formal complaint with Consumer Protection Ontario.
Nothings
I did not like any think the room dirty the sink block the fridge small very very bad the customer service bad unfortunately is very very bad experience i will never aver back there they did not come to clean even i told them before please let’s anyone clean my room and take the trash no one come very bad my fridge not working i went to the customer service she offered put my staff on her fridge and she will call the maintenance guy next day when i back next day after my work i sow the same no one come and fix it and the room dirty no one take the trash they are very very bad
The service was nice and very friendly.
Check in as well as check out was extremely easy and stress free.
Beds were very comfortable.
The hotel is a bit rundown but it seems like they are trying to improve.
Check in and out was quick
The room was not very clean. Mildew and dirty bath/shower/shower curtain. Broken wall plug cover. Peeling trim in bathroom. Peeling ceiling in bathroom. Nearly broken off towel hanger on bathroom door. Dirty, scummy, scaling shower head. Dirty and unreadable thermostat. Freezer needed deicing. Uncomfortable and broken bed. Metal rod under bed had poked a hole in the floor. Bedside light was not working. Entire floor and room smelt like cigarette smoke one night even though the Hotel is advertised as smoke free. When I told a staff member I was told there was not much they could do. Hotel did not have any items requested such as a kettle, bottle opener etc. Breakfast ended too early (9am). Was charged a deposit of $200 on the room yet the room was already damaged upon arrival. Felt ripped off and was not worth the money.
Good location
Hand towels were stained. Hand prints on windows and walls. Blood stain on curtains. Curtains don’t close all the way, very bright. Shower was very dirty. Dirt on the floor. Dust on the tv.
The beds were old and really sagged in the middle making for a very uncomfortable sleep. You sure could not roll out of bed. The room desperately needed a paint job as there was paint chipping everywhere. The walls had who knows what on them which they never bothered to wipe. The TV remote control had various cracks and was held together with tape which did not work very well. The remote literally bent when you pushed a button. The bathroom sink drain was rusty and did not have a stopper, there was paint on the tub surround in various places and the baseboard was literally falling off. Our fridge was very wobbly and the freezer had so much ice build up that if you closed the door on the freezer, the fridge door would not close because the freezer door stuck out so much. The water in the hot tub was grey and the swimming pool was freezing cold. The hallways stunk and the two washrooms near the front entrance had the "occupied" sign on the doors during the whole stay. The room was only supplied with two sets of towels, but there were three guests. The continental breakfast was not the best and the worker hovered over you while you were getting your food. Please do not waste your money staying here!
good location
pool and hot tub were dirty. room was in rough shape as was hallways.
I was genuinely surprised by the hot breakfast. Waffles, eggs, and sausages are far superior to the typical fare. Even when things got busy, Matthew, the breakfast attendant, was incredibly kind and kept everything stocked. It made mornings much easier.
Old and run down

One of the best features was the indoor pool and hot tub. After touring nearby sights like the Molson Center and downtown Barrie, they offered a tranquil way to wind down. They were tidy, cozy, and peaceful.
The staff at the front desk try very hard to do the best they can, at three in the afternoon they were quite busy without assistance
I booked a room for four. Housekeeping set it up for two with towels, didn't replenish the soap and there were a total of three coat hangers.
The door to the bathroom and bar fridge don't open/close properly. Wallpaper in the bathroom falling off, the bath tap isn't properly secure
It was easy to check in thanks to Lubna at the front desk. Our brief visit was made easier by her friendliness and familiarity with the downtown area and neighboring Barrie Beaches.
Breakfast exceeded my expectations. Everything was kept fresh, and there were hot options like sausages and eggs. Before leaving with the kids in the morning, it made things easier.
