Just a beautiful old hotel but evidently well kept over the years. But for modern amenities you'd think you had travelled back in time. Great meals in the restaurant. If you travel by rail, the location is impeccable.
Had an issue with the hotel rejecting my attempt to extend the stay through booking.com and had to call them to resolve it (they dont have 24 hour phone service). However it was promptly resolved once I was about to get through and the staff at the hotel tidied everything up on that front.
Staff were lovely
Loved it all
A beautiful old building in a lovely position.
There were signs of neglect throughout the hotel. The bathroom door had the worst diy repair I’d ever seen! The shower cycled from hot to cold.
The food in the hotel was very average, it took an age to get served and it was fairly expensive.
The whole place had a very ‘that’ll do’ attitude throughout.
- Great location by train station and short walk from city centre
- Large hotel with a nice feel to it
- Decent breakfast
- 4pm check-in is extremely late for a hotel
- Room (1111) smelled terribly of sewage. Nothing we did could mitigate this
- Toilet was malfunctioning
- Bath skinhole kept bubbling up and making strange noises
Great location if you’re travelling by train. Spacious bedroom and professional, friendly staff.
Very small lift!
The room and bathroom were spacious, with nice furniture and good quality decor. Everything felt well presented and comfortable, with no complaints about the overall standard of the room. The staff on reception and in the bar area were very helpful and welcoming, and the building itself is lovely with a really nice overall feel to it.
The bed is positioned right next to the door, so noise from people passing by is quite noticeable. There was also a loud gurgling sound from the water system throughout the night, which sounded like it was coming from above and disturbed sleep.
Beautiful hotel, had a suit on the 7th floor ,lovely spacipus rpom.Great Roman pieces in the halls and gardens
Nothing great staff,bar and restaurant.
Lovely grand old building
Could be cleaner. Attention to detail required
Across the road from train station and a 10 minute walk into town. The rooms are lovely and staff very helpful
Nothing
Lovely hotel I a good location
The restaurant just seemed like we were eating in a cafe. The staff were lovely but the general decor and layout was like eating in a cafe. Not what I would expect for a hotel like this. May as well as stopped in a cheap travelodge. The room was lovely but was spoilt by simple things that could be put right. Curtains not up properly for one.
Handy for the station. Staff were mostly polite. Too. Was nice enough.
When someone went through the double fire doors on ground floor, they banged very loudly then our door would bang loudly too and you could hear everything on the street outside. This all quietened through the night though.
Everything is so comfortable for me
