My partner and I spent a long weekend at XV Beacon, and overall, the hotel has a lot of wonderful touches that make the stay feel special. We loved the complimentary bath salts, premium in-room coffee, bottled water, and even the fireplace — all small luxuries that added to the experience. The service throughout our stay was exceptional, and the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome.
Our first night’s pillows were not great, but thankfully the hotel offers an impressive pillow menu with 8+ options, which made a huge difference. I also forgot my sound machine, and to my surprise, they had one available complimentary. It really feels like they’ve thought of everything a traveler might need.
We like to unwind in our room after long days of walking, and this is where the stay fell a little short. The in-room couch was extremely worn and uncomfortable — clearly very heavily used — and the room overall could benefit from some updates.
Mooo…, the on-site restaurant, was fantastic. We especially loved their $1 oysters at lunchtime — fresh, delicious, and a great deal.
Overall, XV Beacon has exceptional service and thoughtful amenities, but the rooms could use a refresh to match the rest of the experience.
XV Beacon feels like slipping into a luxury Beacon Hill manor: cozy, historic, and ultra-elevated.
Every detail is intentional. The oversized towels, cashmere throws, furniture, and in-room fireplace created a level of comfort that felt residential. The bathroom had a Toto washlet which was so great, and a bath salt menu that made a great relaxing evening.
I had to work for a full day in the room during my stay, and for the first time ever, I was excited to work from a hotel room. Between the fireplace and the plush seating, it felt like working from a sophisticated living room rather than a guest room.
Dinner at Mooo… was another highlight, friendly bar service, good group sitting at the bar, the best lobster bisque in the city, and, to my delight, a delicious non-alcoholic sparkling Riesling! Very few places offer NA wine by the glass, and it was so good, I was so grateful!
My favorite detail was “Beacon the Burner,” the stuffed dog that came with the room! It was whimsical, comforting, and perfectly on brand for a hotel that leans into its residential charm. It’s those small touches that make XV Beacon feel special.
It was a truly stunning stay. Warm, polished, and memorable in every way. Thank you XV Beacon Hotel!!
After reading all the great reviews we were looking forward to our stay. The atmosphere of the hotel is very dark, dreary and depressing. The rooms natural light is blocked by the building next door. Couldn’t figure out how to adjust the temperature. Impossible to put makeup on in the bathroom light. The bed was the most uncomfortable I have ever slept on and kept me up all night with back pain. Needless to say we won’t be back.
Wow, really nice find, perfectly positioned to walk everywhere in Boston, super nice staff, cozy boutique style hotel, nice room, Moo Restaurant attached, great breakfast. Could not fault this place 5 stars!
We have just stayed 3 nights in this hotel room 602
Everything about it is excellent.
The location is perfect for the lovely Beacon Hill area and the park, also not far from the wharfs.
Our room was clean, comfortable with every amenity, lovely decor and relaxing to put up your feet after a days sight seeing . There was a little road noise but hey its a buzy city.
We enjoyed having room service for breakfast and one meal .We were served quickly and the food and delivery were very good . We asked for hot water a couple of times and we were quickly given our own charming kettle ( We are British and tea was calling ...not from the bay!!)
The bar and resturant have a great atmosphere with good cocktails and food .
The staff were friendly and helpful throughout . But a big shout out to the concierge team who were fantastic from to getting us into a resturant of our choice ( which was booked out ) to helping with general infomation and printing our boarding passes.
All together a great place to stay and I would highly recommend
Thank you to the staff
XV Beacon is located right in the heart of Boston directly next to the State House. Whether you want to walk to the Commons/Public Gardens or Quincy Market and the North End, this hotel is situated in the perfect place for you. It’s a boutique hotel so it doesn’t have the same grandness as other comparable hotels in the area, but for the money, it’s hard to beat. Will definitely be back.
XV Beacon is an incredible hotel in the Beacon Hill area of Boston. It is extremely conveniently located to be able to walk to most tourist areas and locations in Boston.
Checking in was super easy. They sent me a message to pre check in but that turned out to be actually checking in. I hadn't actually wanted to do this and wanted to check-in in person but I was able to speak with the front desk person when I grabbed my keys and was able to settle my needs. This process was smooth and super hospitable.
The lobby was a bit small but it was nicely decorated and very cozy. We sat in the lobby a few times and really appreciated the iced tea (and football cookies on Sunday game day.) The concierge desk is front and center and the concierge who helped us was extremely personable, with excellent recommendations.
Our room was quite lovely and very spacious. It was immaculately clean and comfortable. The water pressure in the shower was amazing and so was the abundance of hot water. Our bed was so cozy and the black out curtains did their job. We got great rest in this hotel.
We went up to the rooftop, with it's plentiful seating and gorgeous views of Boston Common. What a nice way to spend an afternoon.
We ordered room service one night and ate in the restaurant for breakfast a few times. The food at Moooooo is absolutely incredible, as well as the service.
I could not recommend this hotel more and I will definitely be back when in Boston again.
XV Beacon delivers a truly refined boutique hotel experience in the heart of Boston. The room quality is outstanding — spacious, tastefully decorated, and equipped with luxurious details like a gas fireplace, plush bedding, and marble bathroom with heated floors. Every element feels carefully chosen to balance comfort with sophistication. The tech touches, like easy lighting and temperature control, add modern convenience to the classic charm.
The view from my room was beautiful — overlooking Beacon Hill’s historic brick townhouses and tree-lined streets. It’s rare to find a hotel that feels both so private and so perfectly connected to the city’s character.
The service at XV Beacon is what truly sets it apart. The staff are intuitive, polished, and genuinely attentive — remembering names, preferences, and small details that make each stay feel personal. The concierge team is exceptional at arranging last-minute reservations and providing local recommendations that never disappoint.
If you value quiet luxury, thoughtful hospitality, and a sense of home in one of Boston’s most elegant neighborhoods, XV Beacon is unbeatable.
Very welcoming with excellent helpful staff. The courtesy car was very useful and added to an overall great stay. The breakfast was plentiful and well cooked.
We just spent 5 nights at this charming hotel. The location is perfect. The room was lovely and spacious. The entire staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The welcoming doormen, the efficient front desk, the very well-informed concierges (hat tip to David), the terrific driver of the hotel courtesy car, and the housekeeping staff that kept our room spotlessly clean. The breakfasts were marvellous, and the adjoining steak house (Mooo) was incredibly good.
This is a classy boutique hotel, friendly staff who go the extra mile and keep the property looking sharp. The Moo restaurant is a real hotspot in the area, great food. The location is just where you wanna be in Boston.
Great Staff, very nice room. Ideal location for exploring Boston history and access to the T
From booking to check out, a great experience. The location is amazing & walkable to just about everything. The staff was friendly & attentive - even sending someone up to refill the ice bucket before we even had to ask. If you're there, be sure to check out a sunset from the rooftop deck - stunning. Our room was lovely with just about every amenity you can think of from sticky notes to towel warmer. I will definitely stay here again the next time I visit Boston.
First of all, the location of the hotel is excellent — easy to walk to just about anywhere in the city. If your destination was too far to walk, they offered complimentary shuttle service. Our room was very quiet. The breakfast at Moooo was delicious. But the best part of our stay was the staff. From the bellman to the reception clerk to the concierge to the restaurant waitstaff, everyone was so friendly and welcoming. Thank you for a lovely stay.
My husband and I loved our stay at the XV Beacon. Our room on the 9th floor was very spacious and, since it was on a corner of the building, had two windows both of which opened a few inches to the outside. Even in July we prefer to sleep with the windows open rather than with air conditioning. The hotel was very quiet with minimal street noise. The bathroom had a good amount of hangers for our toiletry bags, convenient plugs, and super-thick towels. One aspect of the room to note: if you prefer not to have your room serviced, there's a switch next to the bathroom to turn, which illuminates a red light outside your room, thus alerting hotel staff you do not wish to be disturbed. There is no card to hang outside your room to communicate that wish.
We ate one breakfast in the restaurant, Moo, and enjoyed it. My order of rye toast came out nice and warm, which is unusual in any restaurant. The bacon my husband ordered was delicious, although, if you want it fried crispy, best to ask for that.
Shout out to bellman Owen for managing our bags at check-in and to concierge David for pointing us to nice dinner options whilst we were there. All-in-all, the XV Beacon made our visit to Boston super-enjoyable. If we return to the city, we'd definitely choose the XV Beacon as the place to hang our hats.
What an exquisite hotel! We got a suite and it was so nicely decorated. The staff was so nice. The hotel made it so special for us to celebrate our anniversary. The location was perfect for walking. The hotel pays attention to details, even leaving out paperclips on the desk! The softest pillows and sheets. The hotel did things to the room to make our anniversary so special. The only thing that I think they could improve on is the bathroom towels. They are nicely monogrammed but not so soft! They are rough towels!
I think it’s one of best boutique hotel in Boston. Amazing staff. Rooms are immaculately kept. Service both front desk and valet extremely friendly and helpful. Housekeeping staff excellent! Great location. This is our go to hotel going forward!!! Wonderful experience. Car service a plus and Mark the driver was so kind , helpful, knowledgeable!!
Recently spent 3 nights at XV Beacon. This is a lovely property with superb service and incredible staff who know the meaning of hospitality. Special thanks to Myriam, Carlos and Patrick for helping make our stay memorable and dealing with minor issues that came up. The location on Boston Common could not be more perfect and the restaurant Mooo has outstanding food. Ivan dropped us off at P town ferry in the house Audi capping the perfect end to our visit.
The hotel is a beautiful boutique hotel with everything a person needs in a city! The rooms are spacious and nicely appointed, the staff is great and the food amazing. What more could you want. Oh...there is a car to drive you to dinner or somewhere in the city if you need a ride!
Spacious and beautiful room. Love this hotel.
