old hotel with doors that rattle when you're neighbours get in, thin walls so you can hear everything your neighbours are doing and the unhoused freely roaming the hotel. no security around each time we returned to the hotel after midnight.
10 dollar cab ride to Roger's Arena
We had stayed at the Hotel Macdonald several times before... but this time was disappointing. I think that when you market yourself as the classiest hotel in town and charge those rates, then you better get the details right. Breakfast in the Harvest Room was very average, though expensive. Music in the bar was loud and inappropriate for the historic setting. Rooms were a bit depressing.
open a little earlier for coffee/tea.
Bedding hot and bed not so comfortable. Everything else was fine.
This property is pristine and a gem in the City of Edmonton. The service is 5 star and the employees are friendly and knowledgeable
Overall we enjoyed this property and the staff.
Our one and only issue came up the morning we checking out; the washroom pipes stopped draining. The tub wouldn’t drain and toilet as well. When I brought this up to front desk with were kind and took care of us. This was just a issue with buildings of this age.
Hotel is beautifully renovated and clean. Staff meh.
The rooms are great but windows are old. You can hear street noise. Staff attendances are not very eager to help. The salt pool is nice but needs update.
There was loud people a few doors down - likely coming back from the Morgan Wallen concert until late at night which was unfortunate. But the cot was all set up when we got there which was perfect.
The food and service on the patio restaurant can be improved. The service was slow and the food quality was less than fitting for a hotel like Fairmont.
Down town Edmonton is not a great place, there are a lot of homeless people and some sleep in the park in front of the hotel
The view and state of the property is excellent as well as the food
Priya from room service was great. Almost everyone else didn’t really care. We could not get the bed lights off at 3 am. The night manager, who was unable to turn them off, was outright rude. I ended up having to cover the lights with towels so that we could get to sleep. They fixed it the next day. Then the internet went out and two technicians were in the room for more than an hour. Many staff members asked how was our stay but gave us a “Sorry “ at most. Only when we checked out the day manager gave us two nights free parking. Far from adequate compensation for such an expensive hotel.
Every time need requests water bottles and dental care tool too.
I thing one time requests rest should refill every day.
Beautiful historic hotel with the best views of the Edmonton river valley. Food and drinks number one. We were upgraded to a suite for my wife’s birthday.. how awesome.
They went above and beyond to help us celebrate our nephew's 10th birthday- we walked into the room with a mini cake and toys waiting for us. Plus, the room was absolutely beautiful. The pool was a big hit for the nephew and I as well.
Amazing staff
Staff are so professional and friendly in the same time!
