Hidden Fees at Check-In

Cons:

We booked the hotel and it said that pets were allowed. However, when we arrived, they charged us $75 for our Chihuahua and $30 for parking per night. We really had no other choice but to agree, because when you book, you have to pay in advance and the money is non-refundable. It was unpleasant. Also, breakfast was not included.

Great Stay!
Pros:

Very pleasantly surprised by our recent overnight stay at Hilton Garden Inn Carlsbad beach. Nice modern, clean, quiet room. The hotel is one of the nicest Hilton properties I have visited. Staff were friendly, courteous, and efficient! I love the convenience and features of the Hilton app on my phone. I can gain access of parking gates, hotel room door, and even control the tv!

Cons:

Hallway and room had sewer odor which we reported but was masked with chemicals and not removed nor compensated for the inconvenience. Wasn’t able to enjoy nor sleep at night because of the smell, surrounding noises, and creaking bed. The handheld shower spray was also leaking all over the place. The whole experience was overpriced for such a unpleasant and disappointing experience. Requesting compensation for being overcharged, but hasn’t been resolved yet.

Beautiful Ideas, poorly executed.
Pros:

The lobby, pool area (even though it was small), and workout room were nice. I liked the free flavored water in the lobby.

Cons:

I don't like how far away you had to park from the main entrances. There weren't any accessible doors on the sides of the building, so the only options were the front or back. And the parking in those areas was always full. The beach was right across the street, as advertised, but the access to it was not convenient or close. The beds were loud when you would turn over or move and there was dirty calk in the showers, which is never fun to look at.
